legameboy
In recent events I discovered the MSB worm on my computer I looked this up and it is very severe. Millions of computers have been infected with the MSBlast.exe worm. I will tell you how to check and see if you have it and how to get rid of it. Please do this A.S.A.P.! If you have a firewall you were probobly not infacted, but just to make sure, do steps 1-3. What's so bad about this virus? It makes your computer a "zombie". On the 16th, this virus will trigger all of the computers that are infected to demand data from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ (your valuable Windows security update site), shutting it down. This virus also is known to wipeout files you have and shut down your computer without warning. And again, I plead to you to do all of the steps BEFORE the 16th. 1. Run the program "Run". 2. Enter "msconfig" and press enter. 3. Click on the last tab 4. If you see anything with "msblast" in it, go to: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html 5. Install and run the program. 6. After you have found and removed the worm with that program, go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and get the latest security update. 7. Relax, your computer is fine now. Arreat
Do you know HOW to get it? Because I want to prevent taht from happening in the next 4 days.
legameboy
You just get it, its not an attachment, its just data that goes to your I.P. address. If you don't have a firewall, keep checkin' to make sure you don't have it. As for preventing it though, I'm sure if you go to http://www.windowsupdate.com , there will be an update to protect your computer from getting it. El Sitherino
just because you have a firewall doesn't mean you are safe. People with firewalls have gotten infected also. I suggest you read news articles and the like.
legameboy
And that's why I said check anyway if you have a firewall. I know that the firewalls didn't stop all of the worms from getting in. I also read about 3 news articles about this too.

Kain
WOOHOO!! I'm clean! That and I delete all my cookies all the time, I don't keep any kind of information on my computer whatsoever. The only thing that'd piss me off is if I lost all my Zim episodes...that'd be like 50 days(and I mean 50 24hour spans of waiting) worth of downloading gone...just thinking about it makes me want to cry... THANK YOU LEGAMEBOY!!!

Elegy
I've also been told if you're running Win98, you're safe. Hey, kinda like the last worm that was floating around. Thank god my cheap ass never upgraded to XP or 2000. Of course, just to be on the safe side I looked anyways.

Any help? Do you have any Logitech stuff, like a logitech mouse?? That's what I assume logi_mwx is. As for wcmdmgrl, it's the automatic windows update manager running in the back ground. As for this worm, it is exploiting a known bug that had a security update issued 2-3 weeks ago. Whilst I do not live in the US, your homeland security guy made an announcement about it. So, I don't understand how so many people have been so slack in updating their PC's. No one can blame MS on this one, they warned people quite some time ago... Yeah, it is only a problem with Windows NT, 2000 and XP, since they are all based on the original NT kernel. Not nice to know it's taken 8-10 years to see this a security risk. Oh, Mac's and Linux/Unix have the same kinds of bugs floating around, but they make up less than 3% of the user base, so it doesn't cause the same kind of problem.... It's not a good target to only annoy 3%....
