LucasArts DirectX 8/9 games and Nvidia's RTX Remix
Scummbuddy replied to Scummbuddy's topic in General Discussion
I added Double Fine, Autumn Moon, and Telltale Games to the considerations. I think I was just so excited I forgot to mention those potential games. With these new editions, perhaps now I'm most excited of the possibility of an RTX enhanced Psychonauts with cleaner figment textures. -
With this incredible piece of Nvidia's RTX Remix tech now in open-beta, who here will be undertaking texture mod refinement on LucasArts games of the DirectX 8/9 era?? DirectX 8 LucasArts Games: - Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb - Star Wars: Republic Commando - Star Wars: Starfighter DirectX 9 LucasArts Games: - Armed and Dangerous - Lego Indiana Jones 1 - Lego Indiana Jones 2 - Lego Star Wars (other) - Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga - Lucidity - Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge LucasArts (Others listed as RTX capable?): - Star Wars Rogue Squadron - Star Wars The Force Unleashed - Star Wars Episode 1 Racer - Star Wars Jedi Academy - Star Wars The Old Republic DirectX 8 Telltale Games: - CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder - CSI: Hard Evidence - Sam & Max Save the World (but we have excellent remasters now) - Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space (but we have excellent remasters now) - Telltale Texas Hold 'Em DirectX 9 Telltale Games: - Back to the Future: The Game - CSI Deadly Intent - Game of Thrones - Hector: Badge of Courage - Jurassic Park: The Game - Law and Order: Legacies - Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent - Poker Night 1 - Poker Night 2 - Puzzle Agent 2 Telltale Games (Others listed as RTX capable?) - Wolf Among Us DirectX 9 Doublefine Games: - Brütal Legend - Costume Quest 1 - Costume Quest 2 - Gang Beasts - Hack 'n' Slash - Mountain - Psychonauts DirectX 9 Autumn Moon Games: A Vampyre Story In all seriousness, the Indy game could probably be a winner with a texture mod pack and enhanced lighting. Maybe even Armed and Dangerous too. Lucidity had a strong light focus to begin with and may be perfect just as it is. I bet some fun could be had with Monkey Island 2 though...

The Legend of Monkey Island (Sea of Thieves)
Scummbuddy replied to Gins's topic in General Discussion
Just an update, Sea of Thieves has put out a very large patch and some fixes were made towards this Legend of Monkey Island tall tale. Nothing of real importance, but it's nice they spent some time tweaking some bugs. Potential spoilers below in the patch notes: ‘The Journey to Mêlée Island’ - Players can now head up to the Mansion as soon as the guard leaves his post, and are no longer blocked by parts of the environment. - When players have constructed a body for Murray, any players joining the session after the initial sequence will now be able to see Murray’s body. - Players will no longer see a silhouette of Walt the violin-playing skeleton through the church window. - Fog seen in the Mansion now behaves correctly throughout the location. ‘The Quest for Guybrush’ - Players should no longer see a patch of mist on the stairs near the Lookout Point after the fog has cleared from the mountaintop. ‘The Lair of LeChuck’ - A Quest Book is now present during the ship chase sequence, giving players the option of leaving the Tall Tale during this section. - Herman’s Supply Crate will no longer appear to move around while the player is viewing it. - The front-facing cannons on the Headless Monkey now have more restricted movement to prevent issues with aiming. - The Head of the Navigator can now be taken from another player when offered. - Liquids in the cooking pot now appear to drain correctly when collecting Banana Grease. - The Banana Grease Jar will now appear correctly after it has been used. - The notification shown to players when the Chilled Banana Soup has been discovered or lost now references the correct item. - Players can no longer become stuck on the palm tree within Herman's camp. (Can't delete this html block while just editing on my phone. Ignore me!) -
Day of the Tentacle Remastered physical editon by LRG

I must have missed the update that they upgraded the hamster from a "bean bag with printed art" to a proper beanie-baby-type toy. I'm so happy they did that. -
I totally agree and maybe what can come out of this is a respectable poster and/or a cardboard sleeve to slide over top our EMI boxes. 😛 Unfortunately for my taste, I think I prefer the more dynamic Guybrush on the magazine than what is on the poster. Also of note this poster is NOT from the same magazine in this post. It's actually of a paper size slightly bigger than this magazine and does have staple holes where it was likely inserted in the middle of some magazine. I think when I found it listed on eBay it may have been titled more to do with the Tomb Raider game on the flipside of the poster. The original owner also unfortunately used some sticky tape on the EMI side that tore the artwork away. (Spot reserved for first page of article that I failed to take a picture of...) I'm curious if I have picked up any of the promo/media discs around this timeframe that may also have this artwork digitally. I may not be able to look for that in my stuff for awhile though.

@Laserschwert Re: Outlaws cover art. I was also going to suggest it was Adam Schnitzel. I've been looking through the official strategy guide for clues. It doesn't specifically say so for the cover art but it does also say he is an accomplished painter, beyond the cutscene background artwork and being the lead background artist. I'll look harder for his signature in the artwork on that other Outlaws cover pop-art piece that I have that we've talked about before.

I've actually been meaning to bring this up too. I have both that magazine and the actual poster (with the as-mentioned different artwork of Guybrush). I just don't have a suitable scanner. The poster is not as large as 2 feet by 3 feet but it is a decent size. I'll take some pictures tonight.

It should be the Part 2 The Curse Gets Worse Act screen that has music that continues back into the Puerto Pollo beach/fort, followed by a few strums of harp music before kicking back into some music. Maybe it's getting tripped up trying to find that harp music file/cue, and halting more music?

Following up with the main news page about Grim Fandango celebrating it's 25th anniversary (oh my oldness), IAm8Bit just brought back their 20th Anniversary vinyl printing of the Grim Fandango soundtrack. In other related schwag news, you can get yourself this very fine Double Fine hat. But also, a life-sized Psychonauts brain-door (hinged, lenticular pin).

I don't think I've ever seen that Tales of Monkey Island sell-sheet before. Thanks for sharing that.

I need an old, internet sound board of their Hit the Road voices to press as I squeeze them. Actually, now I hope that Neil will do a "Potter Puppet Pal" of his Sam and Max Disco song with these plushies. @Trapezoid

Telltale Games, appearantly not quite dead, but dying (again)
Scummbuddy replied to Lagomorph01's topic in General Discussion
Deleted my previous post containing total guesses at the situation. It appears that 10 jobs were cut across Telltale and London-based Flavourworks. So it wasn't exactly a "clear positions" from one country to move all work to another country like I blindly surmised earlier. -

Just read another article, this time from Engadget, that had the following tidbit: -
But we are buying the official ReMI soundtrack to encourage Disney to consider adding other official LucasArts soundtracks...

Did anyone else notice that the map seen on the table next to Kate Capsize as you begin your Legend of MI Quest, is a slight remake (rip) of a World Of Monkey Island map of the MI islands, from 2002? I can't seem to find the artist but I assumed it was a Paco Vink piece but I could be wrong. Am I way off here? -

Just trying to enjoy some pizza during my lunch break and... wait, what is that? Oh, that's right. We forgot to fix the USA flag at the end of Day of the Tentacle. This is the timeline we live in.
