We’ve seen, what, two dialogue trees? I’m sure there is plenty of silliness in the game — see the burp teaser — but looking at the dialogue with the pirate leaders specifically, it seems like a natural progression from MI2. There wasn’t a lot of “I want to be a fireman” in that game, either. Nor should there have been — Guybrush had shed a bit of his naïveté at that point.

While I don't know what they'll do with it, that is something they introduced in MI2. Odds that it might be touched on seem decent.

As for NYT vs. Mojo: Mojole changes at midnight server time; NYT at midnight client time (aka your time). I'm glad they're finding inspiration in the frankly superior -le.

Ditto, though I also feel appreciation for his contribution has increased over the last few years. Listening to his MI2SE commentary shows his influence on both the world of the games and Guybrush as a character. In a sense he balances out Ron’s cynicism and Tim’s boyish enthusiasm, and they may have been missed by some/many. I’m stoked he’s back for ReMI.

They likely changed that because the preceding games never hit the PS2, hence the vague reference to "the hit adventure series." So, in that sense, the back of the PC box's claim stands. But: Is that mere hubris not rooted in fact?

It is also entirely possible for Jojo to have gone to Melee with Elaine and then traveled back to Monkey to hang from the totem pole. This is just science, people.

The black one wears a hat so it's obviously the same as Smirk's, but the gray one could be a different one. Elaine ostensibly could have smuggled the Monkey Island one onto the ship -- or it could be the same type of monkey picked up elsewhere.
