I agree! Andorra agrees to relinquish her power once she says "Checkmate" to Kalla after they have one last duel (short, kind of like Luke and Vader's, but briefer.) Once she does, Virul "drains" her and plans to leave her for dead.

I honestly think that Komad is totally right--Andirrul IS a separate entity, and it's going to be an interesting bit of mental gymnastics to navigate what she's thinking in the course of the battle with Tyrannus--and Kalla. The Iyav backstory rocks, too.
