Swoosh
So the rumors are rumbling again...decide for yourself whether to believe them or not. I personally am waiting for an official announcement of some type...but the idea that spielberg would direct is amazing. Bob Gnarly
From the IMDB George Lucas announced publicly that this will be the last Star Wars film he'll make. He had plans to make Episodes VII, VIII and IX, but the 57 year-old writer/director has declined.
Sam Fisher
It might turn out to be a SW/ horror... That might be cool if they had the Vong in it though.
Tesla
Well, sounds juicy but... If it is true, and EP 7,8,9 are to be made then how the hell are they going to get Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher to come back ? Spielberg directing wouldn't be bad at all, well it would be awesome actually !!
StormHammer
I agree that Spielberg directing any Star Wars movie would be excellent. As for doing Sequels...it's hard to see where the story could go next, considering Star Wars 1-6 was supposed to be the Life And Times of Darth Vader... I doubt they'd get the old cast back...and even if they did, well...they're getting on now. It would have to be set a decent amount of time after the events in ROTJ. Like 20+ years on... Darth Eggplant
i believe episodes 7,8,9 deal with Han and Leia's kids growing up and being taught by Luke how to be jedi's, and i also believe some assassin female named jade something eventually skywalker is pissed that the emperor was killed and so begins hunting down luke and tries to kill him numerous times and then cant and then she decides she wuv's him after all and they marry, anyhow give it time, George said there was\was not going to be a 1,2,3 so maybe years later there will be a 7,8,9 i mean he needs years to make money off re-releasing 1,2,3 into theaters with special enhanced FX sceenes, and he needs to have peeps buy a box set of 1,2,3 then a special new box set of 1,2,3 and then a special special box set of 1,2,3 (just like he did with 4,5,6 cause I own two box sets of 4,5,6 UTINNI! means marketing ploys, and Echuta! means shut your yaps and just buy the merchandise will you. The Cheat
it would be cool but i dont see the original cast coming back. im sure they would be able to get chewie, c3po, and r2d2 back since they are in the prequels but i am not sure if they would be able to get ford, fisher, and hamill back

coupes.
No! Don't do it! These rumors are fake anyways, GL won't spent 10 more years on star wars movies, he said it himself, he has lots of other projects in mind for the future. Besides episodes 7-8-9 would suck big time, The emperor died, Vader died, the Empire was defeated, the sequels would definately not have a goog feel to them. Also I doubt Harisson Ford would come back to make 3 other SW movies, same thing for Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher.
Sam Fisher
Also I doubt Harisson Ford would come back to make 3 other SW movies, same thing for Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher. Yeah, they are like... old... Aren't they?
BongoBob
Bleh, I don't think they could get back Hamil, Ford, and Carrie, and then if they didn't, then it would suck big time. Like George of the Jungle 2:p
Sivy
i really don't think it will happen. and i can't see a plausible story-line if it did. ROTJ wrapped it up nicely.
toms
im not sure about these specific rumors...but i bet they end up making some post jedi films at some point... even if it isnt for another 20 years... i can't see them letting it alone. Spielberg would be great. In fact, it is such a shame that GL has decided to direct all three prequels himself, he should have got in other directors like he did for ESB and ROTJ. He has a cool imagination, and is great at visuals, but he has totally lost his touch as far as characters go, he need someone else to colaborate with. He is great mates with Ron Howard, Coppolla and Spielberg... just think what they could do with the franchise if they co-wrote with GL and then directed. I remember saying after EP1 that EP2 needed to be directed by ridley scott (gladiator meets bladerunner) and co-written by George Lucas and Joss Whedon. I still stand by that. I'd almost rather they did a TV series than sequel films though. Either of the main characters, or Young OB1, or in KOTOR times, or even just following a new han-solo type character (like droids). Think Young Indiana Jones meets Farscape meets Firefly meets droids meets KOTOR.
Swoosh
I think a TV series would kinda suck...you can hardly ever get as good of actors for television and if they were pumping 15 shows a season, the effects would be pretty crappy. Perhaps Spielberg wants to create a new star wars trilogy with different characters and people are assuming this is episodes 7, 8 and 9. Who knows though... A serial rather than a series would definitely be better. Look at something like Band Of Brothers, which was more of a serial, and had far better production values throughout. I believe that a Star Wars story done in a similar way would be far better. This is what I wish they would have done for The Clone Wars, to be honest - rather than a bunch of mini-cartoons that hardly seem worth the effort. A long-term Star Wars series would definitely be a bad idea. It would end up like Star Trek, regurtitating the same old storylines over and over... That was what i meant. I agree that a Star Trek style ongoing series would end up devaluing the property, but a Band of Brothers/Young Indiana Jones style serial with decent actors and decent production values (CGi is getting cheaper by the minute) would give thema lot more time to flesh out characters and background stories. amadeus
I don't know, if they did it right after ROTJ wouldn't they have to go into Thrawn trilogy? And we've already read that. That's what happens after ROTJ, its a bit set in stone, since Lucas authorized the writing of those books. It might be cool to make movies of the books, and since there's three, it would work. But I'm not sure. And aren't Carrie Fisher and Harrison not exactly the dashing beauties they were twenty five years ago? You'd have to go pretty far ahead in the Universe, which has already been expanded upon, to possibly the Vong invasion. I don't know. It seems doubtful. toms
if they do make any films (or tv serials) after ROTJ then everything in the books will go out the window. Just because the book are authorised doesn't mean GL won't completely ignore them. In fact, due to everyone having already read them I think it is guaranteed that he will ignore them as he will want to do something new. And hopefully the Vong will be completely ignored. They would have to be set a few years after ROTJ and probably with han, leia, luke not as the main characters.
Tesla
to possibly the Vong invasion If they make Episode 7 -9 about those freaks, them im never going to buy another Star Wars DVD, Game or whatever, ever again...and im serious....the books about them shoudl be burned and the authors of them shot, and Lucas gets a good kicking for allowing that trash to have the Star Wars name on them !!! amadeus
It would be such a shame to have such a huge and wonderful part of star wars history(thrawn trilogy) thrown out the window. I think it should not be allowed.

It's been proven that George Lucas has the rights to take the EU and smash it to bits if he wanted to. The original death star plans WERENT made in the Maw installation as we were lead to believe in the books, etc. etc. If George wanted another trilogy after ROTJ and he wanted to COMPLETELY contradict it, he could and would.
