Ties in episode III

Glaive v.1

I kinda hope there aren't any times unless the movie ends around 10 years before ANH. The reason for this is there is a huge amount of EU materiel evolving around where ties came from. If Lucas were to create a new origine, he would nullify what has already been created. Similary, he did this to Slave 1 and Boba Fett when he created Episode 2.

Here’s a picture found on supershadow, who we all know is as about trustworthy as a great white shark with a sign around it's neck saying "come play with me, I swear I wont eat you" … but then you never know.

For the love of god!!! I made those for T'Bones Star Wars Universe and that twat Superdick stole them and edited out the names at the bottom! They were made long before I saw the actual Jedi Starfighter Mark 2s which are the prototypes for TIE fighters. The craft are similar in the movie (the cockpit and split wings) and don't resemble TIE Fighters in anyway. I imagine the TIE sound will be the only thing that really links them to TIEs.

However - early X-Wings have been designed for the film and word is we'll see them for roughly 2 seconds. Something for us fanboys methinks.

Probably the same as seeing the X-Wings. Bear in mind this "older then X-Wings" stuff is purely EU and not cannon so its up to George whether we see them or not. Can't see any reason why we won't though - the Tantive IV is there and the Y-Wings can't do anything other then help bridge the gap between III and IV which he's striving to do (everything appears much more worn and used this time around). It's too early in the post production to say though.

I don't think these craft are in the opening battle scene at all, thats still mostly those Droid Fighters from TPM with a new paint job, the drones they release, the JSF2s, the various "fish" seperatist cruisers and supposedly the big momas themselves - StarDestroyers.

Which leads to the question - where exactly do the X-Wings fit in to all this? There is a short battle between Obi-Wan and General Grievous above Utapau and Obi-Wan gets shot down - hence the showdown on Utapau but what craft the General is using isn't known. Also, there is a colage of clips during which depict several Jedi dying (one is known to die in a tank battle), one clip is supposed to take place in space but almost nothing is known of what takes place there because post has only just begun. And there's another year of post to do.

It's a possibility - the starfighter attack screen that we know of only consists of Anakin and Obi-Wan in the JSF2s - so what else are the Republic throwing at the seperatists? I know the N1's appear in it at some point but they're not exactly the Crouscant Security force...

i believe it was of obi-wan on tatoonine, having just delivered baby luke to owen, walking off into the sun-set. although that's just speculation at this time.

the x-wings could be the "new" republic fighter to help combat the legions of droid fighters or something like that. if they were in an experimental stage, they would probably only be shown for a few seconds in the film.

isn't that big space/ground battle in the beginning of the movie at least 20 minutes. and how much screentime for each?(ground/space).

Yea thats what I was thinking, but his makeup might not match up to what we see in ep3.

Imagine the poor baby that got dragged all the way out in the tunisia desert lol

in an interview from ben burt in the new insider, when asked if we would be hearing the familiar sound of the TIE fighters in EP.3

he said:"I've made it a goal to connect the sounds of the prequal to the original trilogy. there will be sounds that are precursors to the familiar TIE-fighter sounds because i want to make connections with the films in sound, as has been done in art direction."

From the general understanding of Star Wars, X-Wings were pretty new when they flew in the Battle of Yavin so don't expect to see any prototype versions of them in Ep 3 unless of course you want to see a Z-95 Headhunter (EU creation) which is the closest thing to an old skool X-Wing. But that's doubtful to.

Maybe we'll get a glimpse of some Y-Wing type crafts... who knows.

Perhaps a general, EU based understanding, but looking at the movies as stand-alones, there is no reason to assume that X-wings are new models.

In fact it seems more likely that they're older and crappier, which is why the Rebel Alliance is able to get ahold of as many as they did. Leading me to conclude a decent probability of seeing prototypes in Ep. 3

if there are x-wings, then all the EU stuff about them will have to go because the x-wings are an advanced version of the z-95 headhunter.

and the EU stuff about tie-fighters should already be scrapped because darth mauls fighter looked exactly like an interceptor when viewed from the back.
