Zahn's the shiznit. Grand Admiral Thrawn's the best EU character ever, in my opinion. The Nohgri (sp?) in general are a close second. No other EU author has had the impact on the films that T. Zahn has had. I look forward to reading it.

Thats true, Zahn's Mara Jade made it all the way to getting married to the central character of the OT.....

yes he did, well he came up with the name anyway. the actual description of the capital city was in the first drafts of ANH & ROTJ.

Zahn does rule, i've read all his other books so i'll probably end up getting survivors quest.

i'm glad he stayed away from all that NJO crap.

Hmmm, I'm up for a bit of EU book reading while I'm waiting for the new Republic comics to be released. Is there a list of his books in chronological order anywhere?

I'm not 100% sure about this..... I was always under the strange impression that the word coruscant first appeared in 'Courtship' but I'm very foggy on this..... In many of the earlier modern EU, coruscant was called 'Imperial Center'.....

EDIT : No, I was a bit confused, Heir To the Empire was published in 1991, where the word Coruscant first appeared...... perhaps SW timeline-wise, 'Courtship' is when it first appeared ??? Im extremely foggy about what happenned in Truce at Bakura....

thats 2 to Zahn, Jade and Coruscant... !

He hasnt written that many lexxy -

Im not listimg the short stories that appear here and there :

Many EU phreaks are increasingly using the term, "The Zahn septology" to describe the 7 novels Tim Zahn has contributed to the modern EU...

1. Outbound Flight - a novel set in prequel times but related to events in SQ and the (TTT), will be released later this year IIRC.

The Thrawn Trilogy(TTT) : 9 years after Episode 4 : ANH

2. Heir To The Empire

3. Dark Force Rising

4. The Last Command

The Hand of Thrawn Duology(HoTD) : 19 years after ANH

5. Specter of the Past

6. Vision Of the Future

and now ....

7. Survivors Quest - set after the duology,

I met Mr Zahn and Mike Stackpole when they came to Oz a few years ago. They signed my books. Nice guys, yes perhaps a bit geeky....

A bit of trivia.....Zahn also modelled for his character 'Talon Karrde' in the decipher SW Card Game....

maybe you should read a book that will satisfy as a one-off as you cant read one onf Zahn books alone..... try "Shatterpoint", a prequel era novel, featuring Mace Windu :)

Have fun lexxy !

that?s right Siv, the NJO is so bad I had to stop reading one of the books, think it was destiny?s way but can't really stick a name on it, any way I never finished it, first time I ever set down a SW book and never picked it up again. And there are so freakin many! they can't spend there time writing better novels, just that trash

these new writers piss me off.

I like Shatterpoint - combining that and the Clone Wars Episodes 12 &13 gives you a feel for Mace's power ... and what I have always wanted for Luke in the EU ... but that is a topic for a different thread ...

For me it isn't the writers or even the books, but the entire plotline and premise.

right. I was so sad when chewie died I cried my eyes out for almost a hour, and every time I tried to read that book again I started to feel my eyes water. the books just made me depressed, killing everyone and all.

still makes me pissed me off.

That's what happened with my cousin...I think she ended up burning that book. She hasn't read one since.

Maybe I'll go check these books out. Thanks man.

Yeah - so's the Borg, but that doesn't mean they should base a SW mega-series around it ...

wow, thats what I call dedication....sorta... well, I guess its just a reflection of your love for the characters... when I was 9, I cried at the end of ROTJ, because of the yub yub music, anakins spirit sitting there with yoda and obi, and the fact that it was going to be the last SW movie ever.....or so I thought.....

*gets out kleenex, in preparation for next year...yeah, Astro's probably gonna start bawlin, like its 1984 all over again :p*

T. Zahn is my favorite EU writer of all time. His books are the only EU books I'm really interested in, too. There are several other EU books I like, but TZ is awesome.

My first EU book was Heir to the Empire, 6 months ago. I was never into SW enough to merit reading a novel, but Zahn is a fantastic writer!

I just finished Specter of the Past and am now 1/3 into Vision of the Future. I have to say, though, that SOTP was much dryer and a little slower than the previous 3 novels. There are certain parts I didn't like about the book, but otherwise it was ok.

Zahn is to George Lucas as Thrawn was to Palpetine...

Lucas may have built the Empire, but it was Zahn that turned it into a "work of art"
