El Sitherino
Huzzah! A new King Arthur movie! IMDB info on it I really look forward to seeing this, and how it turns out. The cast looks to be pretty good, and who can forget the lovely Kiera, a brilliant up and coming actress who's already brought her name into blockbuster hits. below are some thumbnails to some hi-res shots, Warning, either have lots of patience or broadband if you want to view the hi-res shots, they are between a meg and 2 megs in size so... yeah. enjoy. Astrotoy7
mainly a brit cast, which makes sense. If King Arthur had a US accent I wouldve puked all over the round table... mtfbwya
Sabretooth
I've seen the trailer before, looks dumb to me. I'll watch it when it comes on VCD/DVD or something.

El Sitherino
pffft, the last arthur movie to be released in theatres worldwide was "First Knight" and the last Robin Hood one was the one with Kevin Costner. I think it's time we have a new, and different twist to King Arthur and his tale.
obi
Sir Sean Connery was the best Arthur ever. Period. End of story. Move along.

Kurgan
Hopefully it isn't one of those dumbed-down "Xena Warrior Princess" type movies that plays modern music and has the actors speaking like their on a 21st century TV sitcom with bad humor going 'round. There are two routes one could take in a King Arthur movie that would impress me. 1) Go as closely with the "historical Arthur" as possible (if such a thing is possible, since scholars don't agree if Arthur really existed, though someone like him surely must have). So, Romanized Celts with a mixture or Pagan and Christian ideas riding around defending their earthen/wood forts from invaders and trying to unite various warring factions for increased protection, while the bard sings songs about their adventures that grow and grow with the telling. 2) Go as closely with the "legend of King Arthur" as possible. Ie: use Le Morte D'Arthur as a source, or base it on The Once and Future King or any other major work that details the legend. Innovation is nice to cut corners on the boring parts for a movie, but too often the artistic liscense just makes it silly and ruins the story for me. So glorious knights in their plate mail/chain mail, going to elaborate feasts, jousting, following their chivalric code, the Round Table, the Holy Grail, Merlin, Camelot, Excalibur, Lancelot, the works. Probably won't live up to either one for me, but should be interesting though...
Darklighter
Originally posted by Astrotoy7 mainly a brit cast, which makes sense. This Clive Owen guy, IMHO, can hardly act at all and has very little charisma or screen precense, making him a not so wise choice for the title role of a film based on one of the greatest historical (if perhaps fictional) legends. You'll see what I mean when you see the trailer. When first hearing about this film, I figured it's gotta be an improvement on First Knight (which wasn't great, TBO)... http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/513/513084p1.html Check the trailer links at the bottom of that page. Since when was Guinevere a war-painted, arrow-shooting warrior? Forgive me or saying, but from the trailer, I thought the whole film seemed really one-dimensional...like there's no spark that makes you think "Wow, this is going to be brilliant..." I get the same feel from it that I got from Troy...trying so hard to be "epic", but looks really flat. I could be wrong, but initially I think the film doesn't look very impressive, just your average historical movie reinvention. I agree with Storm, I think these so-called "legends" have been played to death on film. I'll wait for the DVD.

I agree, I don't remember Guinevere being a battle clad warrior, but who knows, it could work.
Pie™
That's nonsense, we all know that Graham Chapman was the best Arthur ever!
Mike Windu
On the other hand. Many little boys will go and watch the movie to see scantily clad women warriors. >_> <_< Isn't that right Bongo

toms
I vote for graham chapman too!!! no contest!!! This film IS actually trying to go with the first route, making it as "historically acurate" as possible . (Bearing in mind that scholars can't agree on anything about arthur:D ) It has arthur and his nights being mainly roman centurians left behind, and guinevere as a pict warrior. The film makers reckon that, if she really existed, guinevere would have fought alongside the men as a lot of pict women did. (or they could just be following the trend of Liv tyler and turning every love interest role into a "kick ass") So, no shiny knights and swords in stones for this film i think Personnally i think it might be a nice change from all the mythological arthurs (much as i like them), but i think after gladiator, LOTR, Troy, King arthur , alex the great, etc... people are going to get a bit fed up of "gritty, huge battle films". ---- Apparently, this is Clive Owen's big chance. The studio's want to see if he can handle a big lead part to see if he is worth risking as the Next Bond. (a part he has been linked with for years). I always thought he was a bit lightweight for bond (but then... look at the made for tv rubbish that Brosnan was in before Goldeneye), but apparently he was great in Croupier. (haven't seen it). Come see the voilence inherent in the system ... he's repressing me! The teaser, IMO, was dreadful. The new trailer feels better, but I'm still left asking 'So ...?' and 'WHY?'. I hope it is good, but I probably won't see it ... at least until it hits DVD. Mike
Master_Keralys
Looks good. Looks very good. *snaps eyes away from pictures of Keira Knightly in very scanty top* Oh, the movie... right. Umm... I'll probably only see it on DVD. Other than that, I just don't think it's worth going to see. man, not *another* next bond.... so who we got now.... jude law ewan mcgregor orlando bloom mr sheffield from the nanny clive owen etc Ewan McGregor! Not bad.... but good grief, not Bloom, please not Bloom... he just doesn't fit it.
toms
god dammit! Croupier was on telly last night.. and i missed it cos i was in the cinema paying to watch Van "worst film since spawn" helsing. grrr.... (I vote jude law). (Sounds like the next bond might be a stand-alone Casino Royal remake with an actor who is only around for one film, allowing him to be younger or older) Interesting, especially if tarantino gets to direct. Until I actually saw it in theatres...you can't always judge a movie by it's trailer. Troy was only an average TV mini-series-type affair, with a huge budget and fantastic cast. Not 'epic' at all...at least not in the "feeling" sense. Sigh...
