There's a reason for that....they want people to subscribe and hand over their hard-earned cash to access the 'no wait' servers. Common business practice - and in my estimation this kind of thing is set to increase. We may complain about ads on sites, etc., but the simple fact is they have to pay for the servers and huge bandwidth usage somehow. Not everyone can afford to self-fund everything. ET Warrior
Just wait and do your downloading at like, 2 in the morning. That's what I'm doing now, and all the free servers have 0 wait attached. w00t
txa1265
#1 Gameplay technique of E3-2004? Running backward shooting a not-very-effective weapon at some mutant/alien/beast with seemingly no locational damage or hit feedback. Blech. But hey - at least they have good facial expressions, nice visuals and especially ragdoll ... because we know that the engine is what *REALLY* matters ... ... seriously, though, I'm *LESS* impressed with games like HL2 and STALKER after watching the E3 vids ... I hope they play better than this ... Mike
Zappa_0
If this is the same video I think it is go over to http://suprnova.org and download it with bit torrent. It will take about 30 mins to download and no wait.
GonkH8er
REALLY good video Man, i want to know what happens when you DONT follow that guard down the hall at the start. If they start beating you or something. Cant wait to slice people in half with grav gun + saws
txa1265
Originally posted by GonkH8er Cant wait to slice people in half with grav gun + saws I'm still debating how I feel about the Grav gun - it looks like it was made to highlight the physics and interactivity of the environment (which it certainly does ... and which rock). Watching that video again it looked gimmicky ... I wonder what it will *play* like. I hope that they make the summer timeframe they're talking about. And I hope the game is as fun and engaging as it appears to be. Mike
Mex
Mmm, tasty. The graphics are absolotely beautiful and the guns are terrific. The only thing I'm worried about is how much this will slow my pc down.

The_One
http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22386 Many mirrors listed there, as well as a considerably smaller XviD version (best codec around - small file size, same quality). This should mean you can avoid Fileplanet, and waiting in line. The easiest thing to do, would be to just hop on that torrent, though Anyway, it's a damn good video - it's rekindled my interest in Half-Life 2, let's hope it's on the shelves for the Summer! •-BLaCKouT-•
gah, had a look on Suprnova, but I can't find it on the front page or manually, and novasearch is down at the moment (it's been timing out for a couple of days now). Anyways, FilePlanet's doing it's biz. Had to pause the d/l for a bit, but it's running again now, so... B.
TiE23
sweet video, can't wait to get my ATI Radeon 9800 126mb PRO! TiE
ET Warrior
I'm not sure if it was just my computer screen, but were a LOT of the places they visited in the demo too dark to really see ANYTHING? Because that rather upset me. If the game itself is that hard to see where you're going in and they won't even give you a damn flashlight, I'm not really that interested anymore. I *HOPE* it isn't too long before I get to drop that $50 ... the fall gaming scene already looks pretty busy (Republic Commando, BattleFront, MoHPA, CoD:UO) ... if HL2 waits 'til then it'll wait until Christmas or so (for me, it isn't that high a priority). Samuel Dravis
Yeah, myself, I'm wanting to get Rome: Total War, but it's not out 'till fall, so I need another game to get me through a couple months.
