all those 3 mirrors takes 1 hr 15 mins? You gotta be kidding me, now fileplanet aint as great as it used to. There are lesser download mirrors too.

There's a reason for that....they want people to subscribe and hand over their hard-earned cash to access the 'no wait' servers.

Common business practice - and in my estimation this kind of thing is set to increase.

We may complain about ads on sites, etc., but the simple fact is they have to pay for the servers and huge bandwidth usage somehow. Not everyone can afford to self-fund everything.

#1 Gameplay technique of E3-2004?

Running backward shooting a not-very-effective weapon at some mutant/alien/beast with seemingly no locational damage or hit feedback.

Blech.

But hey - at least they have good facial expressions, nice visuals and especially ragdoll ... because we know that the engine is what *REALLY* matters ...

... seriously, though, I'm *LESS* impressed with games like HL2 and STALKER after watching the E3 vids ... I hope they play better than this ...

I'm still debating how I feel about the Grav gun - it looks like it was made to highlight the physics and interactivity of the environment (which it certainly does ... and which rock). Watching that video again it looked gimmicky ... I wonder what it will *play* like.

I hope that they make the summer timeframe they're talking about. And I hope the game is as fun and engaging as it appears to be.

Many mirrors listed there, as well as a considerably smaller XviD version (best codec around - small file size, same quality). This should mean you can avoid Fileplanet, and waiting in line. The easiest thing to do, would be to just hop on that torrent, though ;)

Anyway, it's a damn good video - it's rekindled my interest in Half-Life 2, let's hope it's on the shelves for the Summer!

I'm not sure if it was just my computer screen, but were a LOT of the places they visited in the demo too dark to really see ANYTHING? Because that rather upset me. If the game itself is that hard to see where you're going in and they won't even give you a damn flashlight, I'm not really that interested anymore.

I *HOPE* it isn't too long before I get to drop that $50 ... the fall gaming scene already looks pretty busy (Republic Commando, BattleFront, MoHPA, CoD:UO) ... if HL2 waits 'til then it'll wait until Christmas or so (for me, it isn't that high a priority).
