Star Trek: Enterprise

So the folks at EB for the most part hate ST so I won't bother even posting this in the Diner so I have decided to return to the Swamp oh so briefly to ask how many of you here watch and enjoy this show. I for one think it's excellent and this third season has easily been one of the best things I've ever seen on TV. Last week's episode was intense and the best episode of the series I've seen. The space battles were great and the emotional story for the most part is well done (yes, like all stuff it does get kinda corny at times). The Xindi are the coolest bad guys I've seen since the Borg since each race has their own opinion on what they should do with Earth.

The Reptilian leader killing Degra was an excellent twist as was he betraying the Insectoids. Civil war always makes for a cool story (like SW!) Killing Major Hayes and a bunch of unseen crew members makes these Xindi real bastards which you can hate which is always good in a show like this.

So, anyone? I could care less what critics have to say about this show and how the Trekkies hate it, I love it. It's the second best ST show ever (hey, nothing beats The Next Generation in my book :p). I post this now because it's the season finale tomorrow night and I know I can't wait :D

Glad you enjoy it ... I've never seen it, myself. I was into the original series growing up, and got heavily into TNG in college when it came out. Watched some of Voyager but it lost me ... never got into DS9, either ...

So long as you enjoy it - what does it matter?!?

I actually like Enterprise better than the other ST spin-offs.. though Deep Space Nine was always one of my favs too.

The characters in Enterprise are well done and the vunerable nature of the ship and its crew is a good twist.

They're relying more and more on the transporter now... that actually makes sense to introduce it out of necessity rather than convenience since it was portrayed as being unstable and dangerous in the first season. A contrast to the take-it-for-granted attitude the TNG and TOS shows had for it.

Anyway... its a good show. I wish Lucas would do something similar with the Star Wars universe on television.

*they shouldve made that excelsior series dammit* !!!

you shouldve started a poll, and sat back and watched the magic

i didn't find it impossible to watch or anything.. but i kind of lost interest about 1/2 way through series one.

I didn't think they really made the most of the time setting... it just ended up as Voyager.

All the recent star trek series seem to have been really phoning it it, recycling the same tired old Next Gen/generic Sci Fi plots over and over. Most have ended up with all the episodes concentrating on the only interesting character (data, 7of9, that vulcan chick, etc..)

It might have come into it'sown, but i doubt it has become as adventurous and risk taking as programmes like farscape, angel or alias.

No edition of Star Trek has ever really been cerebral IMO. Very entertaining, yes, but never cerebral.

The word cerebral came from the reason why the original trek was cancelled many years ago..... however, there are seom great episodes in TNG about dreams and time/causality that were quite clever, a very entertaining mode of lite cerebral.... :)

I've been a fan of the show since it first aired. I've always kind of liked Scot Bakula too (Ever since Quantum Leap, anyway). I think it was cool that he would be a captain. There was one episode a while back, when the guy that played "Al" from QL appeared on Enterprise. I was just waiting for him to say "SAM! What are you doing? You can't captain a starship!"

But yea, as I have said, I have always liked the show. I like Trek just as much as I do Star Wars, and I don't care who knows it! We're here, We're Trekkies, get used to it! :p

I think the Xindi are cool, but I am still not sure how the Aquatics travel in space...I mean......do they ever get out of their ship and stuff? If not, how do they get on there in the first place? etc.

Yeah, if natural selection has showed us anything, they should have died out and the Avions should have survived....

I never got into DS9 because WGN never showed it regularly and Spike TV is being stupid and airing it way too early in the day. I saw the last 4 seasons of Voyager and thought it was ok for the most part.

And I hate 7 of 9 and T'Pol. I hate their characters although T'Pol's becoming less of a hardass after she started doing the drugs that give her emotion.... Still, I would never group her and 7 of 9 with Data who is indeed one of the best characters of all time.

By the way, being a 'Trekkie' in my opinion means you're able to speak Klingonese and be able to tell the specs of different Warp reactors which I cannot do nor never plan on doing. Nontheless, I like ST alot and almost as much as SW. I really don't see what the big hatred over it is

You obviously don't remember the Young Indianna Jones series, or seem to have forgotten Ewoks and Droids. Trust me, you DON'T want to go there...:o

I saw the finale and really enjoyed it.... well, up until the last few moments.

Who the heck was that Nazi officer? I anticipated to see either a Reptilian or Suliban but it was some purple guy with red eyes.... Apart from that, it was great. I suppose that can make for a good start to a new season but I'd like to see some more with Daniels and the Suliban (where'd they go anyhow? I hate Silik with a passion as well).

I liked when Archer planeted the charge on the Reptilian leader's back and detonated it. After the explosion there's blood smeared all over the pillar Archer took cover behind. That was a pretty sweet death to that jerk.

I loved droids as a kid. Still have fond memories. I keep thinking i might try and get hold of a copy, but it might well dissapoint me now.

Ewoks did suck.

I only caught a few Young indys, but i thought they seemed pretty cool. Intelligent, well thought out and with a decent actor and budget. Never really took off though did they?

Clone wars seemed interesting, but i only really saw the 1st 10 eps, and it was a bit superficial.

There was a thread back about how they should do a band of brothers style Star Wars Mini Series.

Wanna know what I think of Star Trek as a whole?

Blast! I was hoping ST was done... okay, no, j/k.

I'm no big ST fan, but a lot of TNG was pretty good. I never saw enough of Voyager to catch much more than tha ta couple of its main female characters were really hot. And the last episode was cool. That's about all I can tell ya, though... And the whole concept of Enterprise has sort of bothered me from the beginning; I'm not sure why. It'd be like Lucas going back (in his case, 25000 years) and being like, here were the earliest Jedi in ships that are boring and crazily irritating... meh.

now come on, Wrath of Khan was a very cool film.

It has all gone a bit downhill since then though.
