Sven Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 Hi all, just wanted to show my very first sculpture of Mr. Guybrush Threepwood. Let me know what you think :-) Sven (btw: more images of the bust available at www.gamecharacters.de)
RicardoLuigi... Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 wow, that's really good. how did you do that?
Sven Posted June 23, 2004 Author Posted June 23, 2004 Originally posted by Das Mole wow, that's really good. how did you do that? I was just pushing some clay around until it looked good enough Well, go and get yourself some super sculpey or an oilbased clay like chavant or roma plastilina at your local artstore and start sculpting
James Isaac Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 The shape on that is amazingly realistic and smooth. You must be really good at sculpting

You must be really good at sculpting Hi, thanks, but that's my first sculpture and there is so much more room for improvements. But for my first sculpture I think it's okay. It takes some time to handle all the different sculpting tools and materials. Next one will be Elaine. I will post some snapshots of the different stages :-) Again, thanks for your comment. Sven
monkeyborg Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Omg that is sweet!!! I could never do anything like that.
sith_master2000 Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Whoa geese that is the best sculpture I have ever seen ! You are really skilled! On the scale of 1-10 you get 11! :D
Joshi Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 Who else thinks the EMI guybrush should've looked like that. It's really good. If you make loadsa characters, try and get it posted (and hosted) on the scumm bar website for all to see. It really is good.
pirate boy Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 MOST EXCELLENT DUDE! The smoothness of it is definately a plus. How'd you accomplish that? Great bust. The way it is now reminds me of the kind produced at Disney Studios for when they are doing character animations. Well keep up the good work:cool:
pirate boy Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 There's one thing missing.... And this is something someone may think is important or not but it's reallly something minor. The earing. Course if you ended up painting it you could add that in, but actually I think you oughto keep not painted. Again one of the best things on here so good job.
sith_master2000 Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Originally posted by Joshi Who else thinks the EMI guybrush should've looked like that. I think Guybrush looks perfect in MI4 because his head shape is more like MI1's so it suites him more.
Joshi Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Guybrush looks anything but perfect in MI4. Despite not looking anything like any of the previous guybrushes (okay, so maybe in head shape) but he just looks way too goofy and that annoying smile on his face from beginning to end was too much. Of course this is just my opinion.
JawaJoey Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 Hell, guybrush changed so radically over the first three games, that I hardly cared too much about how he looked in the fourth, as long as he simply looked good. Which he did. But about the sculpture... AMAZING!!! Very smooth and nice. I cannever sculpt like that. He doesn't perfectly match, (maybe I'm nuts but he kind of looks like Woody Alan) but your technique is great. TWO THUMBS UP! :thmbup1:

I have removed the earing to change the ear. I'm currently giving this bust some final touches and attaching the earing now. Thanks for the hint! :-)
Joshi Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Are you gonna paint it? That would be cool. Post more pictures.
Sven Posted July 11, 2004 Author Posted July 11, 2004 Hey all, I thought I keep you updated on my little guybrush bust. I have attached the earing, thanks 'pirate boy' :-) For larger versions check out: http://www.gamecharacters.de @Joshi: This is oilbased clay that can't be baked. So the material is somewhat flexible and I don't think it is clever to paint it. Next step would be to make copies of this bust in resin that could be painted. But as I said before, this is my first sculpture and I'm not that familiar with moulding and casting. Thanks a lot for your feedback folks, it is very appreciacted! Sven
Nasenmann12 Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Here is a new version of the guybrush sculpture. Completely new modeled and painted. Hope you like it. Sven Another sculpture I'm currently working on:
James Isaac Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Those are great! The second one looks like it's coming along nicely
Samnmax221 Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Any chance theres a Sam or Max possible I'd like to see that Those sculptures are great
Herman Toothdecay Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Oh man Bernard looks incredible. Awesome work...
Nasenmann12 Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Thanks for the feedback. Before I start another sculpture i need to make a mold from the figure and cast it in plaster or resin to paint it. Next figure will be Fry from Futurama I think Will post more pics later.
