Eldritch Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Just a quick sample shot of some models I'm making to be used in some capacity for the contest. You guess the location: Shot 001 The models are untextured, and will probably been seen from afar (most likely as part of the skybox). Comments and crits welcome.
Pontus90 Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 wow i was dreaming of a Good lookin Naboo map,and the dream has come true!!
Pahricida Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Ah well Theed was the capital of Naboo, wasn't it ?
Eldritch Posted October 5, 2004 Author Posted October 5, 2004 Two new buildings A few more and I'll have enough to mix them up without anyone noticing they're the same building.
jangofett804 Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Nice buildings; really does look like Theed.
Eldritch Posted October 6, 2004 Author Posted October 6, 2004 Thanks for all the nice comments. Here's a couple more shots - the first one shows the start of the palace compound (and its size in relation to the rest of the buildings), and the second one shows off a little more detail: Shot 003 Shot 004
Mongo05 Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 OMG Eldritch that is amazing! I can tell exactly where that is because it's just so perfect! I tried to mimic is once by mapping, didn't turn out to well! Keep up the awesome work!! I can't wait for this one!
Pahricida Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 so will you just use these models in the skybox or will they actually be placed as mapobjects?
Eldritch Posted October 7, 2004 Author Posted October 7, 2004 These models will be used in the skybox because they're high-poly; however, a few low poly versions might find their way into the map as map objects.
Mongo05 Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 awe that sucks, i was hoping youd actually get to play that part of theed
Eldritch Posted October 7, 2004 Author Posted October 7, 2004 Those models are way too high-poly to be used in-game. Don't worry, though - you'll be playing a section of Theed which I hope you'll find just as enjoyable.

Can't wait to see how you make the rest of the map.
Mongo05 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 I'm glad to here its a ffa map instead of a boring duel map that no one plays Also, how are you going to incorporate those models into the sky? I don't understand.
wedge2211 Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Portal sky, I'm sure. Either that or Eldritch will use one of his sick CG rendering programs. But, probably, he will do both.

LightNinja Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 if your going to make Theed remember that (at least in SWG) behind the palace there is a cliff and at the right of the palace theres a river which ends in a waterfall in that cliff
Mongo05 Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Wedge, if he's doing a portal sky, the FPS issue will just be greater.
Eldritch Posted October 11, 2004 Author Posted October 11, 2004 These models will be used in the skybox images. Other, lower poly versions might be used as part of the portal sky in order to keep the FPS manageable. And the "sick CG rendering program" is, as always, 3DS Max. Originally posted by LightNinja if your going to make Theed remember that (at least in SWG) behind the palace there is a cliff and at the right of the palace theres a river which ends in a waterfall in that cliff I'm not going to make all of Theed, since that just wouldn't be possible - however, there will be what I hope is a very enjoyable chunk of it, big enough to hold around 8 players.
Nokill Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 well its ok whit me yust make something nice of it =)
LightNinja Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 i just said it cuz is near the palace but its awesome the models of the buildings so everyone can expect something great of this :]
Eldritch Posted October 22, 2004 Author Posted October 22, 2004 The skybox is now done - this is just to give you an idea of what it looks like...
TheLiberator34 Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 //whistles Good stuff. So which area of theed is the actual map going to be about?
