jon_hill987 Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Hell, that is strange. well I'm not holding down shift for 8 seconds. Firstly, have you restarted your PC, if yes then some setting has changed and it is not just a tempory glitch. Do you have a virus scanner? it could well be a virus doing these strange things. Um, I'm all outa Ideas for now. (oh and it ain't sticky keys, you turn that on by pressing shift 5 times in a row)
Reborn Outcast Posted February 11, 2005 Author Posted February 11, 2005 yea i dont think it has anything to do with sticky keys because all of them are unchecked ill try doing a virus scan
Reborn Outcast Posted February 11, 2005 Author Posted February 11, 2005 Well, I just did a complete virus scan, and it found one immediately. I deleted it and restarted my computer and VOILA everything is fine.
acdcfanbill Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 normally a restart clears sticky keys anyway.

El Sitherino Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Originally posted by acdcfanbill normally a restart clears sticky keys anyway. or a good wash. But yeah, try a restart. You might even have to replace your keyboard if it's a software issue.
kipperthefrog Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 stick the keyboard in the dish washer and let it dry if it is dirty. I know this sounds crazy, but my dad's friend is a computer fixing MASTER. he suggest that You might also consider replacing the keyboard.

Sticky keys are mostly used by people who have motor impairments that make it difficult to press combinations of keys. Activating sticky keys basically holds modifiers keys (shift, control, etc.) down for you.
El Sitherino Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Yeah, I was just making a joke about physically sticky keys. I couldn't waste the opportunity.
IG-64 Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Filter keys is the holding down one, sticky keys is the pressing simutanioulsy one. I hate them, whenever I reformat my comp I go strait to turn them off.
Astrotoy7 Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Originally posted by BongoBob IG, you seem to do that alot don't you lolzrz ... IG is the compy mess up and reformat KING I was much that same when a youngster. narfblat Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Originally posted by Astrotoy7 Man, legameboy used to be cool before he became all Mac happy That's not true! Legameboy never was cool! he he I didn't know about the sticky key thing until I was given a boxed set of 5 or 6 pinball games. These games were made before "sticky keys," so they used shift for the flippers. Oh well, I don't like pinball that much anyway.

legameboy Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 On my PC, the sticky keys work like so: when you hold down the shift key for a few seconds, a dialog box pops up and allows you to either turn sticky keys off, on, or never use this 5-second hold-down as a shortcut to the dialog box ever again.
The Seeker Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 found a shirt for legameboy: clicky couldn't resist
ZBomber Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Happened to me before, had to fiddle around with some options.
The_One Posted February 13, 2005 Posted February 13, 2005 Someone at work managed to switch sticky keys on at one of our tills. Unfortunately, the program used on the tills runs in fullscreen, so I couldn't access the control panel to switch it off - nor could I use the usual keyboard shortcuts. In the end we had to pull out the power cable from some stupid inaccessible place in order to start from scratch. No-one ever owned up to doing it - hardly surprising, given the queue of customers left waiting at the end
