Hey. We're europeans. We're clever. We know what the **** a pound is. Even my gandma knows.

And it's complete irrelevant if it's with cheese or without. It's just called Royal over here because of what Alien said, plus "Viertelpfünder" just sounds stupid.

And how exactly is McDonalds responsible for the loss of rainforrest?

This may be shocking news for you, but the burgers are actually made from cows! These cows need to eat tons of rain forest. There is some statistic that says how much vegetables you could grow instead of fattening the cows. Dunno where that is. Too lazy to search.

Holy Cow! (no pun intended) Where the hell did you hear this?! The Burgers are made from 100% Pure Beef, and my theory is, that's the name of a company who supply psuedo meat for the burgers.

Those cows have frequent-flyer miles. They are flown around the globe, 10% of them survive and they are killed locally.

Brighty, help me.

"Everybody, you have to stop! Stop eating! It's not beef. It's people! The Doublemeat Medley is people! The meat layer, it's definitely people. It's people! It's people! Probably not the chickeny part, but who knows? Who knows!?

-- Buffy: Doublemeat Palace

The Doublemeat Palace burgers really contain no meat at all.

The same goes for McDonalds, but don't tell anyone, apparently no body knows. And people say the world is being dominated by idiots

I'm on about the bloody packaging they use!

You're so eighties. Their packaging is no worse than other companies' today.

"1) They get beef raised in the rainforest to be delivered directly to your BigMac. You may be thinking to yourself, "Well, why is that bad? They only take away part of the rainforest and then that's it." Incorrect. They use parts of the rainforest for only 2 years at the maximum because the soil quality is so poor there that they clear-cut another area once the soil cannot sustain the grass and grain that the cows eat. So what's so wrong about that, won't the forest regrow? Wrong again. The moisture in a rainforest is what makes it a RAIN forest, and since about 70% of all moisture comes from transpiration from the trees - No more trees, no more rainforest. It will not regrow, ever, even if it is replanted.

2) The other way has to do with just the grain being shipped from the rainforest to the US or other countries to feed cows that will eventually end up on your BigMac. Put simply, for every pound of beef you eat, 55 acres of rainforest were destroyed."

they stopped using Polystyrene ages ago. now, as Ray said, they use recycled paper.

so just think, the box your Big Mac was in could of once been used toliet paper.

Basically they rip down all of the trees in the area that they have brought and then graze their cattle on that land. When there is no longer any vegetation to graze on they simply leave the field and move their cattle. This is a problem as once upon a time the soil was protected from direct rainfall by a large canopy of trees and plants, but now it has no protection from the weather at all. So when it rains the rich fertile soil gets slowly washed away, until all that is left is a very poor grade soil where a rich fertile life giving soil once was. This creates a barren piece of land. After doing this soo many times McDonalds has created a small sort of desert of mud, void of life

They do all of this destruction to our world and for what? For MONEY! So that some greedy bastards can get rich off of destroying our Earth. And what do you get in return? You get a greasy burger that contains parts of animals that would make butchers vomit dramatically, and you wonder why people are dying earlier. It's down to too much fat in their diets, from companies such as McDonalds. Not a fair deal, when they take away our planet and slowly your lives. But you actually pay them to do that.

Now tofu, THAT's the way to go. :D

Honestly, if people were able to genetically engineer the soybeans that make tofu, we could make it cook like meat and taste like meat, like we do for tomatos to keep them fresh. It would be tons healthier for people AND the Earth.

Did you know that when things are fried in peanut oil (i.e. french fries) they taste better (not like peanuts) and are actually good for cholestoral levels? And the only reason why beef is so unhealthy in this country is because cow feed costs a ton, so instead of buying all cow feed, cattle herders just feed the excess fat from the already-slaughtered cows to the ones all set up to be slaughtered.

Instead of going vegan, how's this guys?...

We raise tax on soy? Sounds good to me. Soy beans are used to create hyrodgenated oil which is, essentially, worse for you than straight butter. So how about making peanut oil SLIGHTLY more cheap, and tax the **** out of soy? Don't tell me "all those poor soy farmers!" That's bull: it's supply and demand. Everyone would adapt. The fast food joints could put a spin on it: "Same great fastfood taste, but better for you!"

So what if the dollar menu becomes a two dollar menu? People would shell out to eat healthy food that tastes like McDonald's, and that would stimulate the economy. And for the beef? Lower tax on cow feed. Makes it more convenient for the farmers to actually ABIDE by regulation.

Hey, here's another one to chew on (heh, no pun intended :p ) : how about taking money out of tax cuts and diverting it to research other forms of palpable, usable energy. Solar, electric, hydrogen. And the further the research advances, the higher you jack up the price of gasoline. That way Hybrid cars are actually CHEAPER to buy, and people will be motivated to buy things like solar-powered, hybrid, or electric cars.

My two cents has been put on the table.

Build more roads. It doesn't sound green, but it is, mainly because we'll be using up a whole load of carbon. I'd go into detail, but I don't have any referance on me at the moment (and wading through that book of mine doesn't sound to appealing at the mo, maybe later)
