TiE23 Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 "Behind a veil of secrecy the evil Empire is creating a doomsday army--one that, if finished, will become the final cog in the Empire's arsenal of terror and domination. Your Mission? Join the Rebel Alliance's covert operations division, infiltrate the Empire, then battle every man and machine the Imperial Forces can muster. Search a vast galaxy for clues, attack enemy bases - all in a desperate attempt to stop the activation of this fearsome new weapon." http://www.darkforcesredux.com/ Looks really cool, I don't know much about it, I just saw I and decided to post it. Samuel Dravis Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Didn't lundquist do the Dark Forces Mod for JA's music as well? It'd be interesting if it's the same person.
IG-64 Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Awesome, I was watiting for a Jedi Knight type thing would come along for HL2.
wassup Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Well...there's already an excellent DF mod for Jedi Academy. What would be much more appealing would be a Jedi mod for HL2. Force Push + Havok Physics =

tags Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 confused is it a video game coming out or are they making toy replicas of the weapons?
El Sitherino Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Originally posted by tags confused is it a video game coming out or are they making toy replicas of the weapons? It's a mod for a game. The mod is recreating an old game "Dark Forces" using the Half-Life 2 Source engine.
Oidar Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Nothing to do with the Dark forces mod for HL2 but its still a very cool Starwars HL2 mod non the less. http://www.jeditimeline.com/A/news.php
TiE23 Posted March 9, 2005 Author Posted March 9, 2005 Originally posted by legameboy Just take a look at the gravity gun. That's like a force power... gun. Yah, I was think of that But getting the saber throw to work properly would be very hard. Und ja, keinen keine (plural is feminine) Hellsabers. TiE
legameboy Posted March 10, 2005 Posted March 10, 2005 Unjakein to you too, TiE. On a on-topic note: Jedi Timeline looks ok. The only mod I'm waiting for right now though is... *drumroll* ... Sven Coop 2!
TiE23 Posted March 10, 2005 Author Posted March 10, 2005 Originally posted by legameboy The only mod I'm waiting for right now though is... *drumroll* ... Sven Coop 2! Oooo, is that a co-op mod for HL2? Thats gonna be awesome TiE
toms Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 I'm always impressed by the skill and dedication of these mod guys... But having saif that... the industry moves on so fast these days, and mods are so much more complex and take so much longer to finish than they used to (especially TCs) It tends to take YEARS for a TC to get finished, by which time everyone has forgotten about the source game and moved on. EG: the DF mods for JA etc.. which (as far as i know) still arn't finished, even though no one is playig the game anymore. And by the time they ARE finished the game looks as out of date as the original game did whenthey started. There was a cool XWA mod to update allt he models in the works, but as far as i know it STILL isn't finished, years after AWA came out. ---------- It seem a waste of effort to have to build models, textures etc... for every different mod out there. Surely if someone made a really good E-11 model for JA or Farcry or something it would make sense to use that for EVERY mod for every game, rather than having to waste time recreating the same things over and over again...
Datheus Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 That's a very interesting point, toms. Perhaps a game mod equivalent of SourceForge needs to be opened. A lot of time and overhead really could be saved with "open sourced" textures and models for all varieties of popular communities. Imagine having a huge database of a variety of prefabricated guns from all time periods. Even popular ones that have been made up, such as the rail gun. Imagine having models of all your favorite video game characters updated and tweaked to perfection over time. And all sorts of skins to go along with them. Tried and true textures to bring all sorts of objects to life. Perhaps even snippets of code for a popular game engine that preform basic game functions. There are so many talented people working on so many mods out there.. What if they all came together and focused on building interchangeable. The prospect of having mods constructed by the community really sparks quite a feeling in my stomach.
