Harry Potter and Dungeon Siege 2

Harry Potter and the Half-Blooded Prince is being released this weekend. I'm going to buy it and spend the weekend reading. I love the books thus far. I was curious to see how many lucasforumites were planning on reading it.

I'd also like your opinons on Dungeon Siege 2, also released this month. I liked the first one, though it did get rather repetitive after a while. From what I hear, this one should be better. I plan to buy it, but I'm not sure it will be worth it.

I figure I'd combine these two unrelated topics instead of cluttering the forums (if that's possible right now. hehe Just Kidding).

Oh I loved HP. While the movies typicall didnt hold to the exact same story line, they were ok. Gary Oldman as Sirius was awesome, I loved him in that movie ^_^ Hermione's actress is becoming quite pretty too.

I really liked book 5, and 4 was fairly good as well... Im curious to know how badly they are gonna hack up #4 in the movie...

I agree 100%. I love the books (obviously).

HP is going to pull a Star Wars:

Voldemort: "Harry, *I* am you father!"

Harry: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

lol I would seriously be disappointed by JKR is she did that, but I doubt she is/has.

Its hard to say who the halfblood prince is, since we dont know the context of the title. It could be as I said, a star wars ripoff (unlikely), or it could be someone totally new to the story, though if its new, he'd probly be a villain (I think), because if the halfblood prince is a hero, that detracts from Harry being the hero. Of course the most logical answer is that harry is the halfblood prince. Though we still dont know why hes the halfblood prince.

I like the movies alright. The books are much better, but thats not exactly anything new.

In the first movie, Emma Watson mouths some of Harrys lines. It's pretty funny. It's when they are all running to Hagrids to find out how to get past Fluffy.

Anyway, only a few days untill it is out. I'm getting pretty exited.

I don't like HP myself, and I have only seen the first movie and not read a single book. But a mate of mine hopes that in the next movie, the actress of ermione will be old enough for a shower scene. Whatever...

Dungeon Siege II on the other hand I really like, after having played the beta for some time. It will however be released on Aug 9th :)

^^^^^

I like the way you buddy thinks(hehehe)

Yea, DS II is only a few weeks away. What is the AI like for your party? In the first game I found myself watching the game more than playing it. At times, anyway. Other than that, I loved the game. The feel was great. The music, perfect.

Maybe JKR will pull a Star Wars. Except that it's Harry full of teen angst and turns to the Dark Side.

Thus, Harry = Anakin Skywalker

I think Potter purist disliked the movie more then the simple movie goer.

Cinematically, it's the best movie yet.

  • 1 month later...

Have to ask here and it will sound arrogant but I mean no harm I am just wondering because I am beginning to see a new trend around me. Here is the question: Have you read any books that are not Harry Potter?

I warned you the question would sound arrogant, so don't complain.

And now the next question: I saw Harry and the Prisoner at a fraternity party this weekend (kicka$$ party by the way - I kid you not!) but someone put a tongue in my ear and I had to walk away at about after Hermonie and Hrry saved Gary Oldman and got back to the sick-bay in time to see themselves dissapear. What happens after this?

First, I just have to say I'm VERY suprised to see this, of all threads, get bumped. HEHE, I just noticed a typo I made 2 months ago. Sad thing is, I'm tempted to edit it.

Anyway, as to your first question, who where you asking?

As for me,

The Complete Sherlock Holmes

The Lost World, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Various Michael Crichton books (Including The Lost World)

Various Tom Clancy books

Various John Grishham

A few Star Trek novels

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

The Prince and the Pauper

A Conneticut Yankee in King Arthurs Court

Oliver Twist

The Hobbit

To name a few off the top of my head.

I plan to read all of the novels by Mark Twain and Charles Dickens I can find. Both men are magnificent. There are several other classics I plan to read, but the novels by Clements and Dickens are my main ones.

I do read Harry Potter, I am just interested in the story though. The problem with Harry Potter is that it sends the WRONG message to kids (if they look for a message), you know what message:

"If you break rules, you'll be rewarded."

Rules equal laws and reward equals money. What kind of a message is that?!

As for Dungeon Siege 2, I haven't played the squel, but I did the original. The original SUCKS. I couldn't solve any quest because I was never lead to any quest, plus the items prices are equal to the ammount of money you have in your pocket at that point.

I tried Dungeon Siege and couldnt get in to it. The whole game is nothing but kill whatevers in front of you to get to the otherside of the map and fulfil some quests with no real thought to them. Theres very little RPG in it at all, so its a hack-and-slash game - which I find unfulfilling. No eating, no sleeping, no drinking... the PC character doesnt have any dialogue, every dialogue with an npc ends with accept of deny, or end dialogue... kinda dumb.

The graphics are really pretty, and the combat animations are pretty neat too.
