Vladimir-Vlada
This thread was originally made by Piece of Metal, but it doesn't hurt to make a special edition. All I can say to this is: PLEASE KILL ME! Now, all I can imagine is that the teachers are going to say: "Your A's from elementary school aren't of any worth here, so stop being spoiled brats, shut-up and do like you are supposed to do". And all I can do when they say it is: Stay put, shut-up and do like you are told to. But in my imagination Ilearn by myself and tell them to go to hell. Right now, I imagine that they will ask us if we read anything; and if I don't act confident ( ), then I'm screwed. ] I know just how the elementary school pupils think: "Another year of endless tortures... ". So I send the message to all Elementary School teachers: BRING BACK THE 4 YEARS OF MY LIFE!!! (from the 1st to the 4th grade [which are, to me, completely useless and unneceseary, and kids should just have 5th to 8th grade knowledge, double work, twice shorter.]) Comments please. ET Warrior
All of your years of schooling have their own set of importance, in one way or another. You'll figure that one out eventually most likely, but those first four years of elementary weren't just teaching you about addition and reading and the like, they were teaching you how to interract in a group setting, how to respect teachers, and so on. They also provided a place for your parents to leave you most of the day so they didn't have to deal with you

PoM
Firstly, i am honored by the thread title. Secondly, you learn more in school than you'll ever need, so i agree with you. Edit: And just call me PoM.
stingerhs
In other words, to brainwash me. well, not really. just get a book or two on sociology and read up on it. you'll understand, if you don't go to sleep first.
Vladimir-Vlada
^^^^ @stingerhs: In school, and in society at large; people are supposted to be tought to respect EACH OTHER, NOT individuals, that's a big mistake which most people support. They teach you to respect teachers (which are AUTHORITY in school), but don't teach you to respect other people; that makes the children agree to live in a classed society, since their parents tell them that if they don't have A's they will fail in life and everybody will hate them, but if they listen to teachers they will suceed in life because teachers deciede whether you are can suceed and be loved or not, that makes the children realise that they have to do what they are told, that individuals determine their fate. But that also has another side effect! If they ahve to do as they are told, then they have to make sure they do it better than others, which forms rivalries amongst many people. So the education system doesn't really work well. I am working on it that Phsycology and Philosophy become 2 of my 4 specialites in the future. stingerhs
hey, i'm not saying anything about the education system, and i wasn't commenting on it. i was merely pointing out that there are a number of sociological processes that take place in school that relate you how you function in a group, how you communicate in a group, and how you handle authority in general. of course, there are other things that take place psychologically as well, but i'm not to familier with that subject. now, if you want to call it brainwashing, go ahead. it actually sounds like a good idea from a conspiracy theorist point of view. but for the rest of us, the education system provides countless adults with a way to have their children learn what they'll need to learn later on in life, whether it be simple mathematics or sociological and psychological processes that children don't even realize they're learning. PoM
Anyway, I kinda agree, but that's not the point of this post... Clean up your pm box, Vlad!

Vladimir-Vlada
^^^^ Sorry for insulting you, I meant to say (geez, I always mean something but don't say it, and I say something but don't mean it) that there are professors who act like jerks and children and teen-agers who act like a$$holes (note: children and teen-agers are worse than professors). I just mean to say that the education system should not only teach us to respect teachers (and people in higher positions), but also each other. I am pretty sure that you are an excellent teacher, and that you do not have trobules about disrespect towards you (the fact that they distrub your class, isn't directed towards you, but to the subject itself. If that's an insult to you, then you should take action and put a stop to it, I'd agree with you). So sorry...

Hallucination
Actually it depends on what class you have. In computers everyone is making funny pics and videos and watching online movies. Its the funnest thing you can do in school.

Bob Lion54
Through the power of YAHOOOOOOOOO HOOOO!!! Emo I briefly checked the site. Seems accurate enough. Im not much of an emo fan though, so whatever. Basically, emo is music that is supposed to make you emotional. See, what you do is listen to an emo band and relize the world hates you. From there you find a nice little corner and cry..... (at least, according to a friend of mine. I think thats the best definition to tell you what IS meant, though. In other words, no offence intended to anyone, just trying to provide you with the "perception" of the music)
lukeskywalker1
wait until you finish school, get to work, get a house, pay taxes, bills, etc...you'll feel like school was like a looong vacation You know, a lot of people say "One day you'll wish you were back in school" I disagree- I think people just wish they were under their parents roofs, with everything supplied and payed for them. Its just that school is most peoples greatest memory, because thats where they spent most of their time. But, I know a lot of adults, when asked if they want to go back to school, they say no. EDIT: I have always hated school, but its not too bad right now. Its my last year. I am taking college classes, and I am not even at school all day (I leave half way for my computer classes) I hang with my friends at lunch, and the day shoots by fast. Since I am a senior theres a bunch of honor society meetings and senior meetings, which bring welcome interuptions to my classes.

lukeskywalker1
Currently I am attending a vocational school for A+ certification. After this year I am planning to go to a community college for a few years (can't afford a proper college right now) After that, I am thinking about going to ECPI or ITT-Technical Insistitute. I never said I would go back to school: I like what I do right now. I went to school during 22 years and I am on the job market since 5 1/2 years. I would not go back to school as I think it was long enough and there are other things to do in life. Nevertheless when I look back, school was like a vacation in terms of workload, responsibility, free time, discipline, etc in comparison with my current situation ( I'm saying that after going to 12 different schools in different countries and different languages between kindergarden and the end of high school, which was far from being easy, and then spending 9 years out of my parents' house to get higher education.) Edit: Now, I am not saying that's true for everyone but when some adults say that, they don't say it for nothing I do believe that school is necessary, not only to learn math, grammar, history, etc but also to prepare children to live in society.
