RC-1162
dudes, i think i know how hk47 got his name. If you remove the H and put an A, youll get ak47 which was a popular model of the machine gun in the 20th century. great name to put to a droid of his type. Bob Lion54
No man, HK stands for Hunter Killer! I made that up. "Borrowed" the term from Terminator 1 Actually, I was accidentally calling him AK-47 for for a while. By the way, the AK-47 is still a quite popular weapon. Its cheap and reliable. Hm, what if in K3 they have his "brother," HM-16? Or a charactor named Thompson Gunn. He could go by "Subie".
stingerhs
i think somebody has been playing too many video games. but yeah, i've thought that myself a couple of times. i honestly don't think its true, however.
starmark2k
By the way, the AK-47 is still a quite popular weapon. Its cheap and reliable. Good old Russian engineering, and they say no good comes from communisum. Any way i think HK-47 was named after a man whos initials were H.K and he was 47 years of age. lukeiamyourdad
If you list the resemblance between the AK-47 and HK-47, you can conclude easily that his name came from the Russian assault rifle: AK-47: Very reliable under any condition Design that is efficient to this day Most popular rifle on the planet Quite deadly HK-47: Very reliable under any condition Design that is efficient to this day Most popular assassin droid on the planet Very deadly Good old Mikhail Kalashnikov... My uncle used to be in the vietnamese army and he said that his favorite gun was the AK-47 since it almost required no maintenance and was fun to shoot with. Too bad they don't want to make guns with wood anymore...stupid alloy...so cheap and bashing people with the butt of a rifle made of some ****ty alloy ain't as fun as a piece of hard wood in their face. Darth InSidious
It could also have something to do with Heckler & Koch, the weapon manufacturers
REDJOHNNYMIKE
It's...Quite simple really, A force powerful enough to rival Revan's personal assasin droid... A.J. HawK 47 You'd think with how many sacks he has, there would be a screen of him crushing somebody, on the internet somewhere:D
lukeiamyourdad
If only american football was loved around the world... Oh, and Bioware is Canadian, if anything, it should be a hockey player or a CFL football player.
The_Maker
HK-47 = AK-47 I agree, someone has been playing too many videgames But while we are on the topic of droids names and russian weapons... T3-M4 = T-34 (minus the M,) hmmm
shamelessposer
Good old Russian engineering, and they say no good comes from communisum. If by "they," you mean our capitalist pig-dog oppressors.
lukeiamyourdad
T3-M4 = T-34 (minus the M,) hmmm Very interesting. I never thought about it. The best assault rifle and arguably the best tank ever made working as a pair!
REDJOHNNYMIKE
That makes sense, because T3 was literally a tank in the game, he's more dangerous than he looks. Ok name a canadian athlete with HK and roster number 47:D
Emperor Devon
HK is short for hunter-killer. Not much of a discussion.

montnoir
Being a spoilsport and all... I even think the droid refers to his designation as a hunter-killer droid in one of the dialogues (in K1). I only really liked the AK 47 in No One Lives Forever. Otherwise it is, meh... because there are always better weapons to be found. But on the other hand, I've never been in a guerilla war so I couldn't really say. You're right about the AK-47 not being that great in non-real situations. There are way more accurate and more powerful rifles out there. However, the AK-47 can go into dirt, mud, water, dust, whatever you want and the chances of jamming are very low. It requires so little maintenance. It's safe to say it's the most reliable gun ever made.
Darth InSidious
Like I said, it's also to do with Heckler (sp?) & Koch So you get HK from H&K, and 47 from the AK....
