The Doctor
I'm just wondering, how do you make a thread "sticky". I've seen people who aren't moderators post sticky threads. Do you have to ask an administrator, or do they just choose good ones to make into stickies?
ChAiNz.2da
Only mods and higher can actually make a thread "sticky". Usually however, it's up to the members and their response to a thread that actually "qualifies" it... unless of course it's important news, etc. Best bet, to be honest, isn't to outright request your thread get stickied. People here "let on" to a good thread and one of us will take of it

Bob Lion54
Hehe. I asked if a thread could be sticked twice. I was kinda supprised when one was. 'Course it wasn't my thread. (not that Iv'e started very many) I was very smooth about it, too. hehe BTW, Is it considered rude to ask for your own thread to be sticked? I'm just kinda curious, though I would think so. stoffe
BTW, Is it considered rude to ask for your own thread to be sticked? I'm just kinda curious, though I would think so. No idea, but I can't see why it would matter if the thread starter is asking for it. I'd think that you sticky a thread because the content warrants it, not because it was started by a particular author.
ET Warrior
It's not really rude to ask for a thread to be stuck..but it's very rare that it'll ever happen. In general, only things involving rules or important news are stickied. Sometimes a thread gets stuck if it particularly warrants it.
El Sitherino
Aye, generally non-rule/news threads that get stuck are dealing with a subject that comes up often so it's just easier to have one stuck thread for everyone to talk in rather than having it come up a lot. Take for example the signature pic threads.
lukeskywalker1
I went to a forum where anyone could make sticky posts. Trust me, its good that mods/admins are the only ones authorized to do it, for example: One dude with about 20 posts stickied a thread where he ranted about a user pwing him in CS (nothing bad... just spam really) A few days later he posted another thread talking about some movie or a vaction... or something. A few days later... well.. you get the picture. Sad thing was they were left until the forums were remade and everyone losts their posts... which wasn't really a bad thing. I even asked the guy "so... why is this sticky?" and he said something stupid.. can't remember what it was, but it still didn't justify.
REDJOHNNYMIKE
Try: Flaming Cursing Egging a mod's house Threatening to infect the forum Making 30 threads requesting it Spamming the mailbox of Darth333 and the other mods with high resolution pictures of text with the word "STICKY" Run out in the street spraying kind folks with an uzi, while screaming "STICKYYYYY!" in front of news trucks Put the request in your signature Make a custom avatar that says "STICKY?????" Take a picture of yourself covered in duct tape, and post it 40 times in the PIC thread Threaten to comit suicide Hack the forum and sticky it yourself Write sticky like this: STICKY!!! all the time If all else fails just PM a mod, ask nicely, and give a good reason why:) And if you are turned down, instead of throwing a hissy fit, ask why and try to come up with a better supporting argument, unless they convince you it's not worht it:)
Astrotoy7
I only sticky things that will be repeatedly visited, like the trivia threads, or repeatedly asked/discussed. So, in the EU page for example, there are stickies for the NJO, Ep3 Novel Trilogy, and an explanation of canon relevant to SW/EU... This is done to prevent multiple threads on a similar topic, and bump/resurrecting of old stuff by a bored member trolling through p4 mtfbwya
