Well, another day, another game2movie adaption. This time its castlevania.

And the director? Paul WS Anderson... they guy behind the great (in a cheesy way) Mortal Kombat, and the highly lightweight and average Resident Evil and Aliens vs Predator.

I dunno about you, but i'm sensing Van Helsing 2.... :(

I think someone should write a good movie and then rather than make it, have someone do it as a video game. Then, when it's popular and movie people wanna make it into a movie, they have a great script all ready to go. It seems this is the only way we'll ever see a good video game adaptation nowadays.

Of course with Peter Jackson involved with Halo (which also had a few great novels based around it), we may see a decent one done soon enough.

This could be good, but chances are it'll suck, regardless of being a game-to-movie thing. It'll most likely have unnecessary sex/nudity/cheese and a very different story from the game(s) and make absolutely no sense in the end. Probably contain some kind of fire monster that was once a friend and the horrible melodrama will consume our minds, causing mass-suicide to take place in theatres around the world.

Show me one good example. Everything rides on wether or not the Halo movie is going to suck. If that tanks, then I give up on the whole video game to movie process.

I don't think much of this guy as a director. I mean, Mortal Kombat was by far and away his best movie...

Its a cool series of games, and its kinda dissapointing to hear that Anderson will be directing. With him at the helm, the absolute best you can hope for is barely-scraping-just-about-average.

I can't see how Halo can fail to be amazing. Highly skilled people involved, a rich Universe to base it all in, and it looks like some real production values as well.

It doesn't all depend on Halo.

Nonsense. People stood in long lines on a cold midnight during November last year to buy Halo 2. At this point and time, pretty much everyone on the face of the Earth and distant cousins have played Halo, and or Halo 2, even if they don't have an XBOX.

People will come in droves to watch the Master Chief take on the Covenant and The Flood in a live action movie. Numbers mean everything, which is why this movie is being made in the first place. If this movie tanks, all is lost. Most likely, due to the source material, it will make a killing at the box office wether the movie sucks or not.

Now what remains to be seen, is if we are going to see a movie that breaks the berriers of these trendy lackluster cliche "video game movies" that theaters are flooded with. Just once, i'd like to see a movie based on a video game that is not aimed at a 13 year old audience. I know i'm not alone on this one. Though the premise of the Halo series, is not all together complex, there IS alot of area that can be expanded on. That means it IS POSSIBLE to make an interesting movie based on the source material.

As much as I love the Halo series, I am completely unbiased on this because video game movies generally suck most of the time. Perfect example: Doom. I have not seen it, but everyone I have talked too, has warned me to avoid this one, or save it for a rental on a very rainy day.

Nonsense.

Its doesn't matter if Halo sucks, they will make more video game movies. And Halo will sell like crazy anyways, like you said, because its Halo. And crap, people will freak and say "AHHH WOWWWW... B3ST MOV3 EVARRRR!!!!" because its Halo. Well... fanboys anyways, and there are plenty of them.

Me on the other hand, I couldn't care less about it... im not really a fan.
