toms
Well, another day, another game2movie adaption. This time its castlevania. And the director? Paul WS Anderson... they guy behind the great (in a cheesy way) Mortal Kombat, and the highly lightweight and average Resident Evil and Aliens vs Predator. I dunno about you, but i'm sensing Van Helsing 2....
Katarn07
I think someone should write a good movie and then rather than make it, have someone do it as a video game. Then, when it's popular and movie people wanna make it into a movie, they have a great script all ready to go. It seems this is the only way we'll ever see a good video game adaptation nowadays. Of course with Peter Jackson involved with Halo (which also had a few great novels based around it), we may see a decent one done soon enough. Jeff
I don't think this will be too bad. Castlevania was always a good line of games and depending on which game it will be based on (hopefully Symphony of the Night...), it has the possibility to be good. ET Warrior
As long as they keep Uwe Boll as far away from this movie as is humanly possible, it COULD succeed...ish... I don't have too high of hopes, but we will see.
RoxStar
Of course with Peter Jackson involved with Halo (which also had a few great novels based around it), we may see a decent one done soon enough. But hes not as big of a fan of halo as he is for lord of the rings.
lukeskywalker1
Plus there is a huge difference between LOTR and Halo. Plus, LOTR already had a story laid out for him, unless Jackson uses the game story, he will need a new one. Thats where most games fail to meet expectations. El Sitherino
This could be good, but chances are it'll suck, regardless of being a game-to-movie thing. It'll most likely have unnecessary sex/nudity/cheese and a very different story from the game(s) and make absolutely no sense in the end. Probably contain some kind of fire monster that was once a friend and the horrible melodrama will consume our minds, causing mass-suicide to take place in theatres around the world. Darth Groovy
It seems this is the only way we'll ever see a good video game adaptation nowadays. Show me one good example. Everything rides on wether or not the Halo movie is going to suck. If that tanks, then I give up on the whole video game to movie process. toms
Hmm. Cool gothic protagonist, lots of CGi and matrix style wire-fu, werewolves, vampires, gothic castles, obligatory love interest... ... nope, still sounds like Van Helsing to me.... RoxStar
It'll most likely have unnecessary sex/nudity/cheese a Cortana and the chief doing it? Ew... I mean, we don't even have proof that The MC had a head under that helmet
lukeskywalker1
It doesn't all depend on Halo. Sometimes I wonder if these movie dudes even play the video games... I still think a game like MGS would make an amazing movie... because it almost already is.
jokemaster
Well, Resident Evil had the potential to be an awesome movie. I remember when it was going to be George Romero directing. THAT would've been awesome. Castlevania could be good....but it probably won't
lukeskywalker1
Mortal Kombat one was pretty good. The 2nd one seemed like they tried too hard and went to far... over exageration...
Kengo
I don't think much of this guy as a director. I mean, Mortal Kombat was by far and away his best movie... Its a cool series of games, and its kinda dissapointing to hear that Anderson will be directing. With him at the helm, the absolute best you can hope for is barely-scraping-just-about-average. I can't see how Halo can fail to be amazing. Highly skilled people involved, a rich Universe to base it all in, and it looks like some real production values as well. jokemaster
I thought Event Horizon was decent....not good, but probably the best film he's done. I haven't seen Mortal Kombat yet, though. And he didn't write Event Horizon
Sabretooth
Why doesn't anyone make a movie on Tetris?
Darth Groovy
It doesn't all depend on Halo. Nonsense. People stood in long lines on a cold midnight during November last year to buy Halo 2. At this point and time, pretty much everyone on the face of the Earth and distant cousins have played Halo, and or Halo 2, even if they don't have an XBOX. People will come in droves to watch the Master Chief take on the Covenant and The Flood in a live action movie. Numbers mean everything, which is why this movie is being made in the first place. If this movie tanks, all is lost. Most likely, due to the source material, it will make a killing at the box office wether the movie sucks or not. Now what remains to be seen, is if we are going to see a movie that breaks the berriers of these trendy lackluster cliche "video game movies" that theaters are flooded with. Just once, i'd like to see a movie based on a video game that is not aimed at a 13 year old audience. I know i'm not alone on this one. Though the premise of the Halo series, is not all together complex, there IS alot of area that can be expanded on. That means it IS POSSIBLE to make an interesting movie based on the source material. As much as I love the Halo series, I am completely unbiased on this because video game movies generally suck most of the time. Perfect example: Doom. I have not seen it, but everyone I have talked too, has warned me to avoid this one, or save it for a rental on a very rainy day.
Captain Wilson
Why doesn't anyone make a movie on Tetris? The sheer suspense would kill us all. It would blow our minds. Hmm, i'll hold judgement and complain at it when its out
Darth Groovy
Why doesn't anyone make a movie on Tetris? The live action Pac-Man movie will be out first. If you think I am serious, I got a bridge to sell you.

lukeskywalker1
Nonsense. Its doesn't matter if Halo sucks, they will make more video game movies. And Halo will sell like crazy anyways, like you said, because its Halo. And crap, people will freak and say "AHHH WOWWWW... B3ST MOV3 EVARRRR!!!!" because its Halo. Well... fanboys anyways, and there are plenty of them. Me on the other hand, I couldn't care less about it... im not really a fan.
Lightsaberboy
i wonder what the tagline for the "halo" movie will be. if it's something like "I need a weapon!" i'm gonna shoot someone.
RoxStar
If you think I am serious, I got a bridge to sell you. I could use a bridge. Anywho, I don't know about any first person perspective, Halo seems to cinematic for that. The elaborate cutscenes scream for good old fahioned cinematography. acdcfanbill
i hear paul ws anderson might be working on it, which makes me very sad. his directing is acceptable, however, his lousy writing is the source of much pain for me.
