I think I was 11 or 12 when I read "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" but I haven't read it since. I saw the movie last night and although I remembered the general story there were a few things in the movie that didn't seem in line with my vague recollections of the book. Thanks to spinkle though for the exhaustive comparison of differences the movie had from the book!

Going in I thought the movie had the potential to be a real winner. I thought the child actors were well cast and quite good. The CGI was excellent as well and seemed to me to be well integrated with the live actors. But at the end of the movie I felt the story had too many gaps, too many hazy points that made the plot rather clunky and detracted from my movie experience. And the way "Peter" kept drawing his sword and holding it but not doing anything with it. I was experiencing serious cheese effect during those sequences. So I would rank the movie about an 8 out of 10. Oh yeah, and I did like the song Alanis Morrisette was singing during the closing credits. :D

@RJM, I have a very visual memory, and seeing the movie twice helped a lot.

@hai wan, my pleasure compiling the list, I was very curious about it myself since it had been so long sind I'd read the books either. the peter-draws-his-sword-but-does-nothing thing kind of bothered me, but his salute to aslan at the camp at the stone table is specifically mentioned in the book, so i'm glad they included it.

@astro...that depends line made me rofl =)

I got a question, about the ending, if they went back to Narnia would they be kids again or adults??

In Prince Caspian (the second book of the series), the four Pevensies return to Narnia and are their normal ages, not the age they were when they were last in Narnia.

@Prime, isn't that the case with almost all movies that utilize the technology? =\ Can't imagine bluescreen acting is as easy as it appears. It was enough for suspension of disbelief for me, and that's enough =)

No, no. I'm not talking about the acting. The acting was fine. I just mean that there were several scenes where the lighting or whatever just didn't look right and the actors were obviously standing in front of a blue sceen. And yet, things like the animated animals were so convincing. Nothing serious, it just strikes me as odd that there would be such inconsistency.

Think there gonna be movies of all the books?

I think Prince Caspian (the second book) is very likely to come out. From what I understand it's already in the planning stages and its fate is only dependent upon the performance of LWW. I'd love to see the whole series done, but there's a long way to go and LWW was the most popular and well-known book of the series, which weighs against the likelihood that all of them will be released. Can always hope, tho =)

I haven't seen the movie, but I loved the book. It's the only one of the series I've read, unfortunately. I will probably wait until it's released and rent it instead of seeing it in thatres.

I'd recommend seeing it on the big screen if you can--watching this one on TV is kind of like watching any of the SW films on TV. Some things are just better on the big screen.

Hell yes dead sexy lol.......but hes no Christopher Lee, now that man screams do me now lol. ;)

Dead, certainly ;)

I thought the film was a good adaptation, though Disney were up to their usual "how schmaltzy can we make it?" deal. The book is quite twee in itself, and then Disney added some extra tweeness, coupled with awful film techniques (slowing parts down, silencing bits of the battle), meant that in parts it descended into self-parody. Generally it was okay, but it was annoying in places.

Oh, and the music was crap. Definitely not a patch on the Lord of the Rings trilogy - they are epic, this is good :)

Ive seen this film too, and i have to admit that i'am really disappointed!

Here's why:

-the actors:In Narnia every single child is totally unsympathetic. I dont know if that is because the actors are bad. But for me it is pain to watch such morons (at least for me) for more than 1 hour. Their characters are just so exaggerated. The "evil" little boy, the know-it-all-better girl and the oh-iam-so-mature boy. The little girl is well played but apart from that almost all the actors suck.

-The plot: ok, this is based on a novel for children, but i assumed that the story will be very entertaining and thrilling but no.. it takes more than 30 minutes to even GET to Narnia. At once everybody is in, Narnia isnt that impressive. I got the impression that almost noone lives in Narnia.

the only real good and impressive feature in this film was the cg stuff, Aslan and those wolves were really nice and extremely realistic.

But if there will be a sequel iam sure i wont waste my money again :/

I thought the music was ok, sure not as good as the LOTR movies but not crap.

I saw it twice during last week. The second time I was going to see Syriana with my dad, but it went all wrong, so I ended up seeing Narnia again.

I liked it. I still prefer the LotR series, though it's really difficult to compare two good similar movies. It's like comparing Star Wars to Serenity, or something. The biblical symbolism was a tad...blatant...but it didn't really bother me. My only gripes were with the kids: they did the whole "zero to hero" bit a tad to swiftly for it to be believable. I mean, they made leading an army to war look like a total walk in the park.
