Datheus Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Stephen Colbert goes to town on Bush and the press at the White House Correspondents Association dinner: http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/detail?blogid=3&entry_id=4791 As John Stewart said tonight on the Daily Show, "Holy ****."
edlib Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Colbert rocks! I read the transcript last night and laughed out loud the entire time.
manoman81 Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Hopefully this thread wont end in a huge atomic "boom!!!!1!1!!oneone!!!". I don't think Lady Jedi's little friend will be big enough to lock this baby up. Back on topic... I thought it was great and not because he was roasting Bush and his administration (although he did use some great metaphors like the Titanic and Hindenburg) because we have heard it all before. It was great because he, well, attacked everyone in the room. Meaning the press in general. The American media absolutley sucks. And he said everything that normal Americans have been wanting to say about the media for a long time, IMHO. It did take some huge, brass cajones to say all of that with all of those people in the audience. Sadly, I don't think anyone will ever see Colbert again... Hahaha....Truthiness...Aw geez...
Samuel Dravis Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I don't find him that funny. :?I watched this yesterday and no, he had a few good laughs but he wasn't that funny. However... I could almost feel sorry for Bush. I think the entertainment for this vid stems from the sheer audacity it took to just straight up say the things he did to Bush's face when he couldn't just walk away, as well as nailing the press in the bargain. Kind of makes me wonder what the heck they were thinking, booking Colbert for it... they should've known better.
Datheus Posted May 3, 2006 Author Posted May 3, 2006 It's a good thing his job entails him doing what he did.. Otherwise I could see him being shut out of show business.
TK-8252 Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I thought he was funny... seems not all people do though. Guess it's a political thing eh? The "Double Dubya" thing was even better though IMO... say what you want about Bush, but can be a funny guy.
Kurgan Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Excellent roast. Let's face it, the Prez is at an all time low and he's an easy target. But Colbert delivers the goods in grand fashion as is his trademark (it's the delivery that matters). Where would we be without comedians?

Darth Groovy Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Where would we be without comedians? My guesses would point to Iraq.
Kurgan Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Anybody have a clip of Jon Stewart's show after-action? I'm sure the two colluded on this one.
