Kurgan
Well, rumor has it I might be getting a copy of this game "in a few weeks," so I'm wondering if veteran players have some advice for a newbie (I may start playing this a little bit before classes begin, and I'll be starting with the latest patch I assume)...? What should I expect? Any pointers to avoid beginner mistakes? Thanks in advance...
Darth Andrew
Don't start a Galactic Conquest with all 43 planets at first. You will be overwhelmed at the scope of everything.
Kurgan
Well thanks to mods I did play the demo like that, but thanks.
Commander Obi-Wan
Make sure you have a larger army with you....that's my cent and a half.
Jan Gaarni
If you play the campaigns, make sure you secure as many planets that are in range before you go for your main objective(s). If you don't you'll find the next "level" getting tougher and tougher, more so than neccessary.
Admiral Raven
Build mines!!
popcorn2008
Make sure to always have a backup fleet when playing galatic conquest, it's been my expierence that even if everything looks on the up and up something bad always happens . It's really quite a fun game, I think you'll enjoy it!
Destroyder121
Build 2 Tartan Cruisers/Corellian corvettes on startup in space battles, and head for the location where your enemy is most likely to build mine in with 1 tie squadron/xwing squadron. Then warp in the Tartans/Corellians when your see it, and as close to the mine as you can and wipe out the mine, this should severly slow down your enemys economy. But while doing so keep your own mines safe, the enemy will most usually try to pull the same tactic on you, or try to defend his own mine. This tactic is very common in multiplayer games, so be prepared to counter it(by destroying the xwing/tie before it reaches the mine so the player can't see wether or not your building there). Also, never send all your starting fighter squadrons to the same place. And always, have a few Tartans/corellians(1-2) and tie bombers/ywings, and tie fighters/xwings in reserve before you start to upgrade to space station lvl 2. Also, if the map has a station where you can recruit pirate units from, try to get a few pirate frigates while your in station level 1/upgrading to station level 2, as their good counters against tartans/corellians, but remember bombers are good against them, so keep a tartan/corellian as a escort. And if your playing rebel, get luke skywalker(or was it red squadron..but anyways) as early as you can, and use his lucky shot to destroy the enemies shield generator when your attacking the enemy space station, then wipe out the hangar with bombers. Watchout for Boba Fett though, he can wipe out Luke Skywalker/Red Squadron in 2 bombs.

stingerhs
here's a good hint: play through a couple of single-player things first to get the hang of the interface and some of the ins and outs of the game. and then work your way up the difficulty tree to help sharpen the skills. then, go and relearn all of your skills (although not the interface) when you go play multiplayer. Darth Alec
Start with the 10 planet campaign, it is very beginner freindly. And only build mines on certain planets, others can act as military bases.
PoiuyWired
Build mines when you have nothing for the spot, even if you plan on building some advanced factory later in the game. The increased income covers the cost of the mine in a couple of days, so you always get more when you sell it. This is especially true as Rebels as your Tech Tree Climbing have a pretty much fixed timing. But yes its a good idea to have more than one planet coughing out troops, and remember multiple buildings on same planet speeds up building. For Space battle abuse the system and use corvettes over fighters. Fighters being mostly as seekers for deployment. For grount battle MPTL is good, make more and abuse that range, use the spotter to reveal the generator(if any) and orbital it up. Imps don't have that unfortunately. Remember that certain buildings (like turrets/build pads/generators/Anti-Space Guns) are ALWAYS ALWAYS at the same spot, remember them for rapid elimination. The Source
Don't use the 'auto-resolve' all the time durring conquest games. With the right amount of troops, you will allways win a 'auto-resolve'. However, I would use it every once and a while. I just played through a conquest game, I keeped using 'auto-resolve', and I beat the game without fighting a single land or space battle. Jmaster3265
Don't expect to have fun with it for long. It will get boring fairly quickly.
Jeff
I have been playing it fairly slowly but I still haven't gotten bored with it since I got it. It's a really fun game and nice change when I need a break from WoW
ImpElite
Well I've enjoyed the game both online and single-player ever since I've got it. all it takes is never let anyone else or anyTHING else ruin MY fun, if they start cussing, sphewing dirty stuff, ect. I either kick them or ignore them if I can't kick them. Do that and get a few friends like you and that's all it takes to enjoy the game at least a little bit all the time Imps rule!!! Valter
Beware of Maurader/Broadside cruisers, they will easily destroy your fleet if you don't kill them quickly. Use space artillery yourself to destroy heavily upgraded space stations. Just my 2 cents.
