toms
Er.. not sure. Its nothing mindblowing or anything, i wasn't going to splash out a grand or two on an uber laptop that would be obsolete in a few years.. if i wasn't off to japan i'd have stuck with a boring but practical desktop. (though i have always had a secret craving for a laptop. ) I just wanted something that could handle half life 2, or some more modern games on lower settings. * Pentium M 750 Processor (1.86 Ghz, 533 Mhz FSB) * 1 Gigabyte RAM (2x512 MB DDR2-4200@533 Mhz) * 15.4" WSXGA (1680x1050) widescreen display * 80 GB hard drive, spinning at 5400 RPM * Nvidia GeForce Go 6600 graphics card with 128 MB VRAM * Removable DVD+/-RW drive * Intel 2915 802.11a/b/g wireless card * PCMCIA, Multi-Card Reader (multimedia card, secure digital, memory stick), 4-pin firewire, Audio In, Audio Out/SPDIF, phone jack, Gigabit Ethernet, VGA-out, and 5 USB ports Pics and a review here: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2346 I'm still setting it up, but at the moment i'm still infatuated. I'll probably discover a big flaw at some point soon. Only one i've found so far is that the screen resolution is so darn high that the text is tiny. Negative Sun
Heh I played NWN for about 2 years. Multiplayer mostly, never finished the campaign hehe I can understand that, the campaign is good but sooo damn long and quite repetitive at some points... Samuel Dravis
hehe I can understand that, the campaign is good but sooo damn long and quite repetitive at some points...If you noticed, the campaign for NWN is, well, almost exactly KotOR's storyline with a few bits changed, like lightsabers. toms
Hmm. I have Neverwinter nights to go on my laptop, as i got it for a few bucks and figured the campaign might last me a while. Looks like i was right . I loved KoToR, but i'm struggling with KoToR 2.. it just isn't as compelling as the first one. I think i may actually have gone overboard on buying almost every game i meant to play but missed.. as i think i now have enough games to last me for about 5 years of solid playing. NWN, Morrowind (which i'm only part way through, and have both expansion packs) and Oblivion on their own should last a long time.. plus Outcast, Planscape Torment and Baldur's gate 2.. oops. PS/ Can anyone recommend the best/easiest way to run games from your hard drive? Is it to mount the ISOs with some form of software? Its not for pirate games or anything.. i just want to load the games on the laptop before i go so i don't have to take loads of CDs/DVDs with me. Any suggestions? Dagobahn Eagle
Out of Order by Hungry Software is a must. Very funny game, with incredibly challenging puzzles. Playing the game with a friend and saying the lines out loud adds even more to it.
Black Knight of Keno
Paintball 2 It must be one of the greatest freeware shooters out there coming right after Enemy Territory and possibly America's Army. Try it out and find me(HawkEye) It makes me want to pick up the sport. Babylon 5: I've Found Her It's also a great game, especially if you like good-quality space-shooters. I recommend to everyone, even if you're not a Babylon 5 fan, as the plot doesn't really involve the series in any way excpet the ships and races. I personally can't wait for the release of the Black Omega. I want to kick some more arse. Also, here's a classic for ye olde people PS/ Can anyone recommend the best/easiest way to run games from your hard drive? Is it to mount the ISOs with some form of software? Try Googling for some sort of a Virtual CD Drive or something. I unfortunately don't remember which one I used to use, but the trial versions should work well enought for you to use too
TiE23
I would bring JFK Reloaded. It's abandonware so you can get it in some places. Good clean fun.

toms
I've got "I've found her". But i've never got past the immensely dull and very long training level. After playing it once and having the computer crash. Playing it again, and having to go out before finishing it, and then playing it a third time and (after 30 minutes or so) getting lost in hyperspace and dying i just gave up on the whole thing. Hmm. Not sure i want to pay for a programme just to play games off my HDD, i'm sure there must be some free ones out there. I've heard Daemon Tools mentioned.. but i was wondering if anyone had any experience with any.. before i waste too much time copying images to my HDD only to find out something sucks. abespam
Alcohol 120% is my personal preference, i've been using it for ages and the trial version works just fine (feel to get the full version by payin or... other means). When it comes to a virtual drive for games Daemon Tools is generally best as it has 'stuff' that gets around some of the copy protection software. However i've found alcohol works just fine. You'll still need to find cracks for your games though. I have been using both and would recommend them to you. Daemon Tools doesn't allow actual image creation (the ver. i have), so if u want to burn ur game cd/dvd image onto ur comp, alcohol is ur best bet. I think Nero also has a virtual drive , so feel free to use that.

MrWally
I have Daemon Tools constantly running on my computer and it works great, I would highly reccoment it, I've never had any problems, although one of my friends (again, not the most Tech Savvy) claimed that it "screwed up his comp" but I doubt it. EDIT: http://www.gameburnworld.com is great for getting cracks and mini disk images (since I hate using CDs/DvDs), and remember, if you own the game cracks are legal. Just make sure you backup your original game exe before you try running it.

Yeah, the Hyperspace thing sucks, but it's really useful at one point of the game to know the basics. You don't really need the training level that much. Just enter the hyperspace and then get the hang of how to keep the signal at over 50% and then start the actual game. The later training levels are just "destroy random things" levels and the actual dogfighting can be easily learned on the first stage of the actual game just as long as you know what are the buttons where everything works. There's also the options for Invulnerability, Full Ammo, Full Fuel and something like that so it'll be easier for newbies to fly. Allthought I got lucky and was hit only twice in the whole game. Of course I had Invurnerability on, but the ship still shakes if you get hit. Oh, and if we go to spaceflyers, I'm all for ideas. Give me more games where I can get some action. I'm bored of games like Privateer or VegaStrike. They really don't have much action in them and all the free-form space-flying is just a tab bit too much for me. Joetheeskimo
I recommend Yoda Stories (a very, very, old game by LucasArts). It's 2D, but addictive. You play Luke, going around the galaxy to solve puzzles and complete missions.
