Rogue15, I think I saw this

the other day when I was going through the

files looking for something else (haven't played

it yet). Was this dedicated to our buddy Ike

then, inspired by him, or what? ;)

yeah i dedicated the mp level to him since

he was the main administrator at the rogue

squadron forums. :) it's pretty fun,

the catwalk is just high enough, there is

a base on each side too. it's a decent

guns level anyway.

Tip for rusty newcomers...

pick one of the Non-Jedi personalites to ease

yourself into the game (and remember strafe

running is faster than normal running!).

Doh. Wish i'd read this before I got my butt

kicked last night. But Wilhuf seemed to be

kicking everyone's butt so it wasn't too

huminiating. ;)

Actually it was really fun.. even if all i did

was die. I never did multiplayer back in the

day and all i can say is: darn that game is

fast! And jedi are damn fragile.. one or two

hits from a blaster and i'd go down.. while i

was still trying to remember what keys i'd

assigned my force powers to :D

Maybe i'll try again later with a different class.

PS/ I spent 10 minutes in the carbon freezing

chanber trying to work out how to get out and

back the the main gantry area where i did most

of my dying.. :D

Which name did you go by toms?

I wasn't generally killing people with blasters

(only once or twice) except the Sniper rifle,

which, in the hands of a scout, does 4x damage

of the normal Sniper scoped ST Rifle (which is

stronger than normal ST Rifle shots).

Two good shots on a Jedi and they're dead.

The thing is, Wilhuf frequently used the technique

of rushing forward with the Double swing (often

combined with speed or protection) which is DEADLY

against most non-Jedi since they can't move away

very fast (and the Scout has nothing to really counter

Protection right off the bat except his mines, which

are kinda slow in open combat unless you're really

awesome).

Come to think of it, few people played as Jedi. A

good Jedi Knight is pretty tough to beat, honestly,

but that doesn't mean the other classes don't have

amazing strengths (I really annoyed people in past

games with my sniping and mine traps, and we all

saw what happened with the carb spamming BHs!).

Cool, and as long as my server is up, let's all go there, k? ;)

If you try and it's not up contact me and I'll put it up for you guys

to use.

Also, don't be afraid to join if it's on a map you're not familiar with.

Some of the MotS maps are REALLY underrated, and actually

quite fun once you learn them. ;) Give it a couple of run throughs

before the game and you'll be fine!

Or just be like me and be Bantha Fodder.. :D

@kurgan: I was on as tomSoul.. but i'm not sure you were playing at that point..

it was mostly just Wilhuf and Andrew.. until my MotS crashed anyway.

Wilhuf was killing me with sabers and the big guns.. not sure what

andrew was using.. looked like a 2 shot kill pistol from where i

was standing/falling/lying.

Okay, yeah I missed you. Obviously I was "there"

the whole time since I was the server player, but

since I wasn't at my computer, I was either just

standing there or dead (free backpack!). ;)

I remember playing Wilhuf, Andrew, te27ch, and

Aaron though!

it was the scoped E-11 Storm Trooper Rife very deadly

from where i was... where luke was when vader told him

he was his father... yea i could see both sides and just

sat there and sniped the hell out of them hehe

I will play some more!

Ja I was using all the cheap tricks (except supergrip and superlightning, which I view as an unfair exploit). Four-star protection, some grip, high lightning, four-star speed, a little jump, dominate the surge. Concussion rifle, and occasionally the rail detonator. Kill everyone. LOL just like back in 1999. One thing I learned yesterday is that I really dont need absorb. Protection pretty much covers it for defensive power.

That E-11 was annoying! Great to see it is really effective in low-lag high framerate situations.

The battles we had in Sith Temple were just plain awesome, especially with the sound effects.

I have an Nvidia graphics card, which allows me to set full-screen antialiasing for any application (including those that dont have fullscreen AA) from the drivers options, which I access from the display properties. I imagine ATI has similar options that you can probably get to from the display properties dialog (right click your desktop, pick properties, click settings tab, then click advanced button).

Nope, not in there, but I may need to install the latest Catalyst Control Panel to see the options... I forgot about that. ;)

I really gotta do work this evening, but I can fire up the server again (I had it off for a few hours while I took a nap) if anyone is still interested!

Hey guys I think I discovered something. It seems that I can alt+tab out of the game and do other stuff while the server runs and its fine, BUT if the map ends and I'm still alt+tabbed out, it "waits" for me to hit okay for the next map... but if I'm "in game" then it just does a 30 second timer and then automatically goes to the next map.

So if anybody had any problems with that, I apologize and it should be back to normal now. I just either have to check it every 20 minutes or keep it running.

Anybody know how to run MotS in a window? ;)

Nevermind I figured it out. Just use Patch Commander (it lets you easily enable the command line stuff like debug mode, show framerate or advanced display options).

In Setup go to display, then advanced and then choose the windowed mode and some (non-3D accelerated) mode that's smaller than your desktop res.

Trouble is the game STILL goes into fullscreen mode when the round ends (though that gets my attention to click the button for the next round) and when I'm not having focus on the window I can't see what's going on with it.

Anyway, have fun!

PS: Here's the link to Hypersnap that Wilhuf sent me (program hasn't changed in four years it seems!) that you can use to take screenshots of that darn scoretable that turn out correctly! (go to capture, enable special capture and then check the options, and use scroll lock key to cap!).

MMMmmmm yeah, oh yeah! ;) Pretty.

Well, that's Game Over for tonight, things got pretty quiet as evening wore on.

We did clear up another "Mystery of the Sith"... there is NO KFY bug, despite presistent rumors over the years.

(The Rumor was that due to a bug, you could still use the force against a Ysalamiri carrier, by using Force Destruction from a safe distance away, we proved this false. Not only does the Destruction ball not hurt you or even knock you back, it is completely nullified, the ball doesn't even explode when targetted nearby!)

Lightning of course has limited range for targetting, so that wouldn't work, and Force Throw isn't even usable in MotS.

We didn't try Saber Throw, but I doubt the power's range is sufficient to allow it to hit the person (I wonder what would happen if you tossed the saber and then they ran forward to try to intercept it mid-flight?)

But so far, it looks like the MotS team did their homework on this one, which is good.

;)

Again, if people want, I can fire up the game while I'm at class, but no guarentee how long it'll be up (and I'll be too busy to play, especially on Thursday). We'll have a "real game" on the weekend though, I'm almost positive.
