Lynk, I'd like to be that wall or floor or whatever, btw. It must feel soo..juicy-yet-solid-ish. Aaaand..I seriously think it's about time for a sticky braggin' 'bout obtaining-new-hardware-plans (and noone ever knows if I really do) thread. abespam
I bought close to the exact same setup just a few months ago (with a dual core processor and double the ram) but let me tell u, it runs all games sweeet.
Crow_Nest
Hmm... Now im wondering if its worth it to change that 7900GT into a Radeon X1900XT. Well because the X1900XT is better than the 7900GT at around the same price. But somehow i dont really trust ATI these days.
BongoBob
Meh, I'm a nVidia man myself, if nothing else because I've only owned nVidia cards and also because of their support for linux.

IG-64
I have an ATI card. It screws up alot. My brother has an nVidia card and his always runs fine. If I buy a new card it'll be an nVidia.

The only thing I'd recomment is a different PSU, maybe this one. Remember to overclock the RAM though, socket AM2s generally can stand to have the RAM modules connected to them running a speeds a lot higher than the factory clock (I think Tom's Hardware used SLI RAM to get DDR2-1016 speeds). Right. Also do note there's a difference with the manuf (sapphiron=craptards. Connect3D=sweet).
BongoBob
To be honest Crow, I would say get a socket 939 cpu, they're cheaper and you can get a better one.
Crow_Nest
Ah nevermind, after somemore brain racking, heres the final result AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (Socket AM2) Leadtek PX7900GT 256MB Patriot 1GB DDR2 800 PC6400 Seagate 250GB 16MB SATA2 Abit KN9 Ultra nForce 570 Ultra MCP Coolermaster Centurion 5 Casing Coolermaster Extreme 430-Watt PSU But the mobo reviews i read almost gave me a heart attack though, i hope i dont run into any problems. One things for sure, is that basically every AM2 mobo is no where near perfect with out flashing the BIOS. Wish me luck fellas, gonna get the PC tomorrow
jon_hill987
the graphics card is going to be obsolete when DX 10 comes out... May as well get a nVidia 7600GT for the time being, It is good enough for now and you will save money in the long run.

Wouldnt want the 7600GT because surely NVIDIA and ATI will release their top of the line DX10 cards first, followed by the mid-range months later. And you know how much those high end cards cost. Theres also no gaurrentee i'll be using Vista that soon too. I might run XP for all my games until i get like another stick of RAM and a DX10 card. Crow_Nest
Prebuilt or did you build it yourself? The mobo and CPU someone recommended a dual-core and nForce 570 Ultra to me, and my dad asked me to get a 250GB HDD. But i picked the rest of the parts myself. PC wasnt assembled by me, but by the guy at the store.
