Star Wars - The New Era

Well, I'm all for good mods, but as Datheus says, this is the sort of mod that never really comes out. All the good mods that they announce normally end with a few betas and demos and disappear into nothingness. :(

I've been waiting for the Dark Forces mod for JA for example, and the Cut Content mod for KotOR 2 for quite a while, I don't think they've come out yet. :(

either that or it gets whored to **** as a secondary

mod to ruin ture games like ja+

cuz honestly movie battles SUCKS... every nub in that

game uses staff or duals... if they want to counter act it--

deal with the speed factor multiple attacks vs a single in that

type of envorinoment... cuz they as of right now do NOT

have the accuracy in any form or sort,... not same ball park

not same sport. MB is ungodly horrible and ruined JKA SIEGE

just like JA+ ruined FFA.

Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Gametypes

Starting with a Star Wars conversion of the DM/TDM mode, we will soon proceed to more exciting multiplayer modes which will suit single players as well as clans. Planned so far:

  • Duel mode: fight against each other 1on1 as Jedi or Sith
  • Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch: The basic gametypes of Half-Life² taking place in the Star Wars galaxy
  • Capture The Flag: Speed up gameplay with strafejumps and 2 flags
  • Movie Battles (Team Assault): The famous gametype introduced in Movie Battles 2 - choose a player class from plenty such as Bounty Hunters, Stormtroopers, Jedi, Hero and many more; each of them with his own special abilities. Take advantage of tactical teamplay and combine the forces of your squad

Yeah I'd agree, don't rush to judgement just because there's a long list of failures on different engines.

I have so much faith in the source engine, there's just such a great development community there. Always a brain to pick.

A New Era FAQ:

Excerpts.....

In the later stage of development, we will also be creating a singleplayer campaign for those of you who prefer playing alone.

Star Wars: The New Era will introduce to you a well-balanced combat system not only consisting of ballistic weapons from the Star Wars universe. You will also have the possibility to engage in Lightsaber duels. Instead of an arcade system, we will provide to you a tactical Lightsaber combat system which can be used against Force users as well as gunners.

VALVe's implementation of the Havoc physics engine has already proven to enrich gameplay and fun in Half-Life², seeing the many fans of the Graviton Gun. We proceed even further and provide your favourite heroes with Force powers as an effective, yet balanced weapon against others......

  • 1 month later...
They're going to create a game identical to or superior to a JA mod

in Half Life 2?

I'll be greatly surprised if it ever gets completed...

If it doesn't get shut down first (maybe LA doesn't do that anymore!)

Sorry for bumping such an old thread but I had to reply.

I wouldn't discount it out of hand this time. This type of game hasn't been attempted on the HL2 engine and if you've played around with gmod you'd be amazed at it's diversity.

Coupled with the rather large HL2 development community, theres always a brain to pick. At the end, it'll gain popularity through the steam network.

But hey I understand where the pessimism comes from, there have been so many failures.
