  • Console Pluses: Controller is pretty revolutionary, cheap price, Avatars, family friendly, backwards compatibility, download old school games, market place, small size, cool look
  • Console Troubles: Controller is reportedly a little less awesome then expected, gimmicky feeling, wonky in some games, not as universally friendly/compatible as 360, little (or no?) real mulitplayer, controller speaker is buggy and cheap sounding (see Zelda video review), graphics really do matter- no matter which way you look at it.

Gamespot sucks. Honestly, their scores for the Wii will always be on the low side because of their ranking system which averages the different scores a game get (graphics, sound, etc.).

 

I don't really have much interest in reviews anyways, I like to make my own mind and try the games for myself, this is the best way to know if a game is good on not. Or I try to get opinions from as many sources as possible, And generally, Gamespot either loves ot hate a game and bash it to death, calling them mediocre or abysmal. Not to mention their website is FUBAR for some reason.

It's a wonder why anyone actually reads Gamespot reviews..

 

I do because it is an easy sight to read. IGN is cluttered with garbage I could give less of a crap about, and some games just get waaaaaaaay too high of a score, like Black. Black?! You gotta be kidding me. That game is fun for about a half hour until you realize you are half way through the damn thing already and you never even reached one checkpoint. I have to read this stuff because with all the crap that has come out this month alone it is damn near impossible for me to keep up with all of it, because customers ask me day in and day out wether something is good or not. I don't always agree with Gamespot either, last year they trashed on The Punisher, and Serious Sam 2, and I adored them. However, it IS an easy sight to use to get the info I need on games to keep my customers informed because most of them are too damn lazy to use teh interweb, and the rest of them are under the impression that all we do at Gamestop is stand around and play video games all day. Silly bastards... :mad:

 

Edit: BTW I got my wii already FTW!!! Take THAT ya silly bastards! :naughty:

Well, I just came back empty handed... ;_;

 

I went to Best Buy, Future Shop, Toys'R'us, Wal-Mart and Zellers and they well all sold out. I guess I'll have to try and secure one this week. I should have known better and preorder one a couple months back, live and learn they say...

Same here, I went to like 10 places and they were all sold out, both last night at midnight and this morning. I'd better be able to get one this week sometime, I'm pissed that I couldn't today.

This might sound egoist, but I'm actually glad I'm not the only one who couldn't get one, now we can be pissed together :p

 

Besides, I actually have plenty of things to do, so not getting a Wii right now is probably a good thing, kinda... I'd rather be playing some Zelda on my shiny new Wii ! Well as long as I get one before Christmas, I'll be a happy man.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was also kind of relieved that I wasn't the only one that didn't get my hands on one. I couldn't believe that all those places were sold out...

Yeah, I feel that, too. They gave Splinter Cell 3 a score of 8.6, when other sites gave it mid-high nines. It's also one of my most favorite games ever.

 

Seems like the editors can spend too much time on the bad things, not giving enough credit to the good things. But meh.

 

I don't like IGN either, I find both Gamespot and IGN to be cluttered and full of bull****.
