DrPhil2501
Two boxing legends. Fiction against Non-fiction. Yet still, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Gargoyle King
Two boxing legends. Fiction against Non-fiction. Yet still, I'd like to hear your thoughts. If Muhammad Ali was set up with a boxing match against Rocky Balboa (Stalone), who do think would win? Wow, that's a hard one. The Italian Stallion or the man who "flys like a butterfly, stings like a bee". Fictionally, Rocky beat stronger opponents than himself (Clubber Lang in Rocky III, Ivan Drago in Rocky IV etc.) but in the real world Ali is still recognised as a true champion even today. As much as i love the Rocky films (i have the anthology DVD boxset! ) i'd have to stick with Ali as i feel his quicker footwork would outclass Rocky's powerful right-paw jabs. DrPhil2501
I know. It's a tough decision, isn't it? Aww... I'll have to go with Rocky (typical, I know), seeing as I am a big fan and all!
SilentScope001
If Muhammad Ali was set up with a boxing match against Rocky Balboa (Stalone), who do think would win? Muhammad Ali. Baloba is a non-real character. All Muhammad Ali has to do is punch the script of Rocky, or just replace the script of Rocky, and volia, Rocky loses! I feel Mohunas knows this; he (or she) is simply expressing what could happen if Muhammad Ali and Rocky Balboa were to fight in a ring in the real world - a bit like the Rocky-Mace Dixon simulated fight in Rocky Balboa. Vaelastraz
Rocky Balboa. Ali isn't all that good. He was lucky in that one fight vs that guy in Africa. Or perhaps not, but I don't like him.

DrPhil2501
In the movie, on that computer simulated test part, who was Muhammad's opponent that was recorded into the computer, again?
Gargoyle King
In the movie, on that computer simulated test part, who was Muhammad's opponent that was recorded into the computer, again? I think what you are referring to is "The Super Fight", a simulated fight between Muhammad Ali and Rocky Marciano in 1969.
Jae Onasi
I voted Rocky Balboa because I can't get Eye of the Tiger to stop playing in my head. I actually got to meet the guy who wrote that song. He's a little unusual, but he's really cool. He carries around a mini tape recorder with him everywhere he goes, and when he gets song ideas he records them and then works on them when he gets home. Well, you know what they say, the strange quiet ones usually go on to wonderful, sometimes ingneious things - i bet Einstein hiself was unusual in his youth. tk102
Rocky has gotten soft. Ali would start talking smack and make a punching doll of Rocky that he'd carry to the press conferences. They'd fight for a couple rounds with Ali doing all the smack talking right before a flurry of punches would send Rocky to the mat. Ali by a knockout in round 2. Of course that'd take place within the first 45 minutes. Over the next 45 minutes, Rocky would get inspired by his wife and start some non-traditional training methods like punching slabs of beef and lifting a wagon full of people. When they have their rematch, Rocky wouldn't be fazed by Ali's smack talk and would give him a one-liner response that would make a great sound-bite. They'd go 15 rounds until everything is blurry and slow motion. Ultimately Rocky would win by a knockout and the music would swell up. Ali would acknowledge that Rocky was a worthy champion. The overall narrative of Rocky. He takes a beating (Creed, Lang) - starts a different training method, rematches and miracolously has improved so much more that he beats them to take the title. Finally Rocky mumbles a few words with the final act of devotion to his wife with the words "I Love You Adrian". This is why Rocky V and the new Balboa movie were just more nails in the series' coffin, as the films legacy truly ended at number IV - the whole Rocky theme just got stale after a while for some i think. JediMaster12
I chose Balboa mainly because he represented the underdog. That was the main theme behind the movies. Hasn't everyone been an underdog at some point? That was what most people related to when the first movie came out. Also I had seen one of Ali's fights and I couldn't understand why everyone went crazy when he gave a punch when he had just been gained upon. To me a good boxer knows how to use the ring to size up his opponent and wait for an opportune moment. Yeah power is a good thing but it isn't always about power. Sullivan still with Survivor. I have no clue about Peterik. Survivor was a staple at high school dances a hundred years ago. I can still hear "I Can't Hold Back " playing in my head. can someone make it quit please! Peterik. He lives in the Chicago region. --Jae I voted Muhammad Ali. Rocky was a great fictional character, but Muhammad is the greatest fighter of all time. I doubt Rocky could hang with Laila Ali. I’d like to see Rocky try one of those round house punches against a real fighter. Muhammad in his prime would have hit him with five jabs and move out of the way before the punch even got near its target. Rocky is an American classic movie and legend, Muhammad Ali is the greatest fighter of all time.
DrPhil2501
Another reason why I picked Balboa was more because of his boxing style. He posseses an Iron Jaw (which basically means it'll be very hard to knock him out), and he also has his devastating body attack.
Cygnus Q'ol
Muhammad Ali was the greatest of all time. Don't any of you remember? First he told you, then he showed you. Most of you weren't even born when he dominated this planet. Rocky Balboa is one of my dearest, favorite characters in modern cinema and the original Rocky ranks in the top ten-all time favorite movies, but what Ali did in his life was real, not a movie. Ali would win the fight, but Balboa would go the distance and never stay down.
Rabish Bini
I would like to think Rocky, but Ali just seems too good, and, after all, He Is The Greatest.
