Tell your stories of summer here.

Last summer, I was in Indiana watching my family set off fireworks. Everyone was kinda tipsy, so they let the kids shoot off some roman candles. xD I enjoyed that. Than we played with the spinny flower things that shoot out sparks and snakes and smoke bombs and crap while my dad set off firecrackers. OH! And in wisconsin one year, my did singed off all his arm hair with a bottle rocket.

last summer, my family all went camping at some place. We all hung durring the day, sat in the back of my stepdad's truck to the lake to swim, and at night, i played laser tag with my cousins tayler, dustin, and austin. it was so much fun! i loved that day.

Last summer, my Army reserve unit went to Norfolk (yes, a Navy base) for their annual training. We were told that we were staying in military hotel rooms and I figured they'd give us blankets and sheets, but just wouldn't care about how clean the room was. Nope, we got real hotel rooms (cable tv, nice beds, our OWN rooms)...not 5-star w/jacuzi and mini-bar, but still something this nice with the military.

Most of the unit did warehouse work (logistics, shelving, inventory). The very small group of mechanics did almost nothing. I remember forcing myself to do anything to keep from dying of boredom. My first few days went as followed: Sit down and shoot the sh*t with the retired master chief, drink coffee, walk outside with him while he smokes, go back inside and drink coffee, take break, look at the lack of work, go back to shooting sh*t, lunch, more shooting, more not working b/c of no work, he smokes, sit back down, leave. Nice to know that our tax money's getting good use.

Umm let's see...I have many embarrasing stories of what my (then) boyfriend said to me (and the fabulous escapades we had...not exactly a double entendre), but that'd just be nauseating. So unfortunately, no.

Went to an event and camped out with 10,000 of my favorite friends all dressed up in medieval/Renaissance clothes(that's with our history re-enactment group). Saw a field battle with 2000 unchoreographed "fighters" (they don't use real swords so we avoid nasty things like death) all coming together in a massive battle. Our camp had about 15 people in it so we shared camp duties--cooking meals, cleaning, etc. Had a bonfire with s'mores, Doritoes, and Oreos, and lots of drinking (we were all legal, thank you). Sang medieval motets with a 75 person choir at a concert. Went to Court and saw a very dear friend of mine get a major service award, and other friends get some very cool awards. Hung out with friends and told stories and sang songs. I can't explain how it looks to see a camp of 10,000 at night lit up with torches and lanterns--it's awesome.

The last few years we've stopped in 'Amish country' (Shipshewana, IN) since it's about halfway home, and we just relax in a hotel, swim, go shopping in some of the stores there, and enjoy some good home cooking after a week of doing camp cooking.

We can't go to that event this year (work conflicts), but we hope to make it to Amish country or just go some cool place in the US and just chill out.

Stupid work getting in the way of personal life. It's been almost ten years since last going to a Renaissance fair.

I spent the summer of 2000 in Ft Jackson, SC. Yep, late May - late August. I do remember not being the most coordinated person, watching a few recruits breaking down and sniveling like little children, and most of all...the frikkin' ants. I came back from KP (it's in alphabetical order), pulled a guard watch, then laid down in a damned ant hill. My good battle-buddy failed to clear the area. I'm not sure how many fire ants bit me, but it had to be in the upper hundreds or at least a thousand. I'm glad I'm not allergic to those little bastards. I still hate fire ants to this day and wish they'd all go extinct; the little bits of Satan aren't even from this continent OR hemisphere.

I'm out of the army now. Just did the reserve thing.

Now my senior year in high school, I didn't bother trying out for baseball, so I was a little overweight at prom. A good memory was on family day when my Mom handed me a prom pic; I looked at it, looked in mirror, looked at pic, looked at self in mirror and thought, "damn I'm lookin' good!"

That is insanely awesome Muthajae. Sounds like heaps of fun.

...I worked at a Scout camp one summer as the climbing instructor's assistant. (I didn't qualify as a real instructor b/c I never was a Boy Scout or took their courses.) 'Twas fun climbing up and rappelling down a 40 foot wall. And the obstacle course (50 feet in the air) on Fridays were great.
