Bomberman65
I just think lucasarts should remake old classics like Dark Forces, Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2, the expansion Mysteries of the Sith and the like. I mean thats what their doing with Tomb Raider and Final fantisty. Why not with these classic games. What are your guys thoughts??

Lynk Former
The problem with remaking old Star Wars games is that they're Star Wars games. Final Fantasy getting remakes is a little different since most of the games that are being remade are ones that never got a proper US/world release. And the new remake of Tomb Raider is significant because it's been 11 years since the first one was made and Edios thought they'd celebrate. At this point in time, I want more originality out of LA, and we're not just talking about another new Star Wars game here. LA really needs to make its mark as being more than just what they did in the past and what LucasFilms has made that they can exploit. That said, I like the way Force Unleashed looks, and I have high doubts about their Star Wars Wii game that they're supposedly making. 10 bucks says that it's gonna suck because they're not going to take Wii seriously. I mean thats what their doing with Tomb Raider and Final fantisty. Why not with these classic games. What are your guys thoughts?? In terms of remakes, there is a mod being made for Jedi Academy called "Dark Forces" that is a complete 3D remake of Dark forces bringing the game into the 21st Century, as it were. I don't think capitalising on old rope is a good idea, a lot of people prefer the original games for what they are and you can still find that even now there are dedicated groups and servers for both Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith; it's a nice idea but personally i feel wouldn't prove a popular one (apart from all those new-school gamers whom seem to have an insatiable appetite of graphics over gameplay, thus blinding themselves from the gaming days of old). BongoBob
I would love to see remakes, however it would be pretty sad if they have to resort to that. I'd rather see them make some new IPs. I had faith when they did Mercenaries, but we see they didn't keep them for Mercenaries 2. However, if they remade Tie Fighter I wouldn't have a problem with it >.> <.<
Black Knight of Keno
Let the fans make the remakes. For what I've seen, those remakes made by the companies themselves suck and are nothing but showoffs of modern graphics engines, even if there might be one or two games that maintain an intriguing plot. Now when dedicated fans make remakes, it won't be just as fancy with the latest in graphics that the big companies can provide, but it'll have that loving feel that the originals always have. Especially in adventure gaming.

Commander Obi-Wan
Sure. I would love to play some of the older Star Wars games. Since I haven't played most of the games. Though, the feeling playing it now, would be much different than playing back when they were released.

Lynk Former
Oh? How so? LA isn't exactly the most original company out there... there were at some point, but they've faltered over the years. While I agree that they'd rather create new games than remake old ones, I find the "new experiences" thing to be funny cause all they do is copy other games and paste "Star Wars" over it. Though of course I'm not saying they ALWAYS do that, thanks to BioWare and TellTale we got KotOR and LEGO Star Wars... though the only reason those games rocked so much wasn't really because of LucasArts. Char Ell
I would love to see remakes, however it would be pretty sad if they have to resort to that. I'd rather see them make some new IPs. I had faith when they did Mercenaries, but we see they didn't keep them for Mercenaries 2. Eh? What do you mean? Mercenaries is Pandemic's IP and LucasArts was of course their publisher for the original game. For whatever reason Pandemic decided to switch to EA as the publisher for Mercs 2. If Free Radical is indeed making SW:Battlefront 3 then it would appear something happened that caused a rift between Pandemic and LucasArts. Otherwise why would LucasArts dump Pandemic, the studio that developed the highly successful (in terms of sales) SW:BF 1 and SW:BF 2, for Free Radical? And then Pandemic went with EA instead of LucasArts as their publisher for Mercenaries 2. Seems to me like LA and Pandemic have parted ways for the time being. As for LucasArts remaking older games, it just doesn't seem like it's in the cards to me. LA execs have stated they're going to make a limited number of games each year, with only 2 SW titles per year. If that holds true and they need to develop a BF3, KotoR 3, a game tied to the new animated TV series, and a game tied to the new live-action TV series, then when are they going to have time to remake any older games in the next few years? Besides, from what I've read, LucasArts leadership doesn't have any interest in remaking older games or developing sequels to games like X-Wing and TIE Fighter. I think they want to make games that will appeal to broader audiences instead of niche groups like flight-sim fanatics.
