ChAiNz.2da
Unless someone can tell me how annoying and hard it is to put in and wear contact lenses? Well I can tell you from experience that I couldn't tell you how many times I've applied a contact to my outside eyelid Sticking your finger in your eye isn't exactly "natural" but you eventually get so used to it that it doesn't take 2 seconds and half a thought. The first week is always the toughest.. plus your paranoid about every little speck you might see on a contact. Fact: They get dirty no matter how much you soak them. Just be sure to clean thoroughly, or keep your disposables in stock

mimartin
Unless someone can tell me how annoying and hard it is to put in and wear contact lenses? If I can do it anyone can. Before getting contacts I wore glasses for two years because of my fear of anything getting close to my eye. However, this entailed me keeping up with three different pairs of glasses; a regular pair, sunglasses and sports glasses. After destroying multiple pairs playing softball I decided it was time to try contacts. It took a while to get use to putting them in and I looked like an idiot using both hands to hold my eye lid open long enough to get them in but I managed. I even bought one of those lighted magnified makeup mirror to help with the process. It took a few years, but now I have no trouble with them. I can put them in and remove them with one hand and without a mirror. If you decide on contacts my suggestion is to keep a case with you till you get use to them. It will save you from destroying the contact or putting it in your eye in an unhygienic matter. Hallucination
I have 20/15 in both eyes, but if my family history has anything to do with it I may need them soon (my father uses reading ones, my mother uses prescription glasses, and my brother might need them some at some point). If I need any lenses I'm getting a monocle and using contacts on my other eye. Edit: I'm serious.
Negative Sun
Ophthalmology works in + cyl because they have not dragged their tushies into the modern age of - cyl. The optics with - cyl are slightly better than with + cyl, according to a number of studies done by Glenn Fry (not to be confused with the singer) and other giants in the optics field. I have the no-line bifocals (progressive), which I much prefer over lined. I need to get a computer pair made--I have a short corrider lens so the intermediate's not very wide, and Jimbo's desk is high, along with the monitor, so I have to tip my head up to see the top half of the screen. Cataracts were done about 5 years ago. Had Yag done OU about 3 years ago, so I'm pretty well set. I thought about doing Lasik on the more nearsighted eye to make that one closer to plano, but I haven't felt particularly motivated to go do it, and I sure don't want to do an IOL exchange with my risk for CME, so I just go along with the glasses. How is -Cyl better than +Cyl? It's the same value just reversed lol, unless I haven't been taught something yet, I'm still pretty noobish at this... We call the progressive lenses "Varifocals", at least I think that's what you're talking about...Sounds like you're all set lol, why did you go for the shorter corridor though? Frame necessity or budget necessity?
Jae Onasi
@Negative Sun-- -cyl lenses are ground differently from +cyl lenses. If you have a base curve for the sphere, and then you add + to create the cyl or add - to make the cyl, they found that making the cylinder more minus rather than adding plus gave better optics and less distortions. All labs in the US, at least, grind in - cyl, regardless of whether the RX is specified in + or - cyl. They just convert ophtho's RXs to - cyl. Shorter corridor progressive (which I think is what your varifocal is as well), was just because I have a small frame.
JediKnight707
Contacts for me I do wear glasses when I take my contacts out, so I count that as both. And right now its summer so I wear my glasses more and more to give my eyes a rest. But when I leave, I put on my contacts. My vision is -3.75 in both eyes. Badddddd. I can't see my hand outstretched in full when I don't have something effecting my eye. When I turn 18 I'm gonna save up and get some Lasik eye surgery. More cost-effective in the long run. Our lenses come in with a + and - Cyl written on the package, so I don't know what cyl they are ground in... We're launching a new lens in our shop soon that has a wider corridor because the demand for it in shallow frames is huge atm... Sabretooth
Just wait till the eventual violent sneeze . That only happens in ordinary monocles. The good man here is talking about a pierced Monocle, which is well, pierced to the skin. Can't fall off without taking your patch of skin off. It made you shudder, no? Commander Obi-Wan
I wear contacts, my prescription... well, it's bad enough. I have contacts mainly because I play sports and I've had to get a few new pairs of glasses because of that. I only where glasses when I am at home. Let me get my monocle. Ah, there it is: .
