Commander Obi-Wan Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 Yeah, turns out that I was able to get it. They were available at work at midnight, so I bought my self a copy. And I won't be posting in this thread until I'm near done the book. I don't want anybody to spoil it.
Reclaimer Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 It's quite horrible how she ended it. We should all kill her.
Mike Windu Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I dunno, I rather enjoyed it, much to my surprise. I love this book. But the deaths of some made me very very sad.
TiE23 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 We got our copy at Safeway for $6 cheaper than at the big book-place near our house where they were having a big party thing. Well over 2,000 people in a place that rarely sees over 750-900 people on busy nights. Safeway had plenty of copies and only like 4 or 5 people waiting there. But anyway, my sister got it and started reading it until 8:00am in the morning when my mom told her to go to sleep.
RoxStar Posted July 22, 2007 Author Posted July 22, 2007 I just finished it. I loved it! That is all.
Crow_Nest Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 My cousin preordered the book and it arrived yesterday. Read the last page, was only interested to know whether harry dies or not. And because i feel like spoiling something, im gonna spoil something Moody got avada kedava'ed by you know who
Mike Windu Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I actually got mine for 20 bucks at Barnes and Noble... got a free pair of glow in the dark Harry glasses, and a keychain too.
ET Warrior Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I finished the book in a day. loved it. Absolutely loved it.
Jeff Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I finished it very early this morning, I think it took me about 7 hours to read. I thought it was very well written. Very few parts I didn't like. Dunno if its my favorite book in the series yet, I always have to wait a little while after I see or read something to decide if its my favorite.
RoxStar Posted July 23, 2007 Author Posted July 23, 2007 I think it took me about 7 hours to read. Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Tyrion Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I finished it very early this morning, I think it took me about 7 hours to read. That's roughly a hundred pages an hour, or around 1.6 pages every minute, excluding pauses or breaks. Either you skimmed through the book, or you're partially cyborg. If so, I for one welcome you as our new overlord.

Ron the other dude, and Harmonie could be that blonde chick. Battlestar Hogwarts!
Mike Windu Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I finished in about 7 as well. It was definitely a good book, though a bit of a damper on the rest of my weekend cause Saturday I had something to do... and the rest of the time.. I didnt..
Jeff Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Maybe it was closer to 8, but I don't think that its that extraordinary of a speed; one friend told me he finished in 6. I thought I read it pretty thoroughly, not wanting to miss anything. I'm still happy to be your overlord though. Me and Mike can share the throne.
Tyrion Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I'm still happy to be your overlord though. Me and Mike can share the throne. Nope, that's not how it goes: it's a solely exclusive title. The only way for you two to settle it is in a very, very, sexalicious mud fight to the death. In other news, I wonder if JK Rowling is going to make a sequel to the heptilogy(that sounds like a venereal disease, actually) at some point, and if so, on what? She sure isn't going to write a story on the wacky adventures of Fred and George, eh?
TiE23 Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I haven't read 6 or 7 and I don't think I'll have time in my reading queue. So I just totally spoiled it for me and read synopsis' for both books on wikipedia. Saved me a lot of time. Problem is that when I read novels, I read it word-for-word and never skim or skip around. So I always read really slow.
Pho3nix Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I finished it very early this morning, I think it took me about 7 hours to read. ...robot.
RoxStar Posted July 23, 2007 Author Posted July 23, 2007 I read the internetz faster than novels. Unless they are boring school assigned kind. Then I read it fairly fast.
Tyrion Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 You guys are slow readers. I'm a slowish reader and my attention span is rather poor, so I'm lucky if I ever get past 100 pages in a single reading.
TiE23 Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 I can't read more than an hour in one sitting usually. Though I did read Musashi for like 2 hours one night.
swphreak Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Finally had the chance to read it. Spent about 9 hours from beginning to end, and it was awesome. I'm really excited to see Movie 7. Gonna have all sorts of wizard action in it. [serious Spoilers] I thought the last chapter was a bit overkill, but it was alright in that corny, sentimental sort of way. I was kinda disappointed Luna wasn't mentioned in the epilogue, she's grown on me since Book 6. And the part where McGonagall brought all the suits of armor and stuff to life was awesome. And two words: Professor Longbottom.
Mike Windu Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 You should welcome your new circuit-enhanced overlords. On an analytical note... I thought some of Rowling's writing was weird this time around, I dunno if it is the fact that I'm getting into more literature cause of school but certain bits of writing just stick out to me... Please... Molly Weasley... gah... lame... and also Harry standing over his "enemy's shell" lololol Harry wow what a hardass -_-
Commander Obi-Wan Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Finally finished reading it. It took me a long time to read it. I had work, in which I couldn't read. The longest outing I read for was about 4 hours from 12:30 AM to 4:30 AM on Monday morning, but I only read about 100 pages or so in that time. And I did read non-stop. So, I'd say I am a fairly slow reader, but I did want to get every detail into it. I thought I was a fantastic book, but I didn't care for the epilogue. I think the movie has the potential to be amazing and the best movie of the series as long as it's done well.
BongoBob Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 Well, I don't read, but there are those books where I'll spend the whole time reading it from start to finish. Spent like 5 hours straight reading Ghosts Of Onyx, and have been reading the Janet Evanovich novels recently, and those are really good, and I've read those all in one shot. Not as big as harry potter and they take me about 4 hours each or so. I'm a reader that doesn't like to read >.> <.<
