ChAiNz.2da Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 How do I include a mod file in a pm? I don't believe you can. You'll need to upload the file to a host site, then provide a link to the person you're PM'ing... Attached files to posts I believe are mod/super/admin only (I believe)...
JediRevan Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 I'm trying to get the ROTS mod to one of the members and can't get it to email.
stoffe Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Attached files to posts I believe are mod/super/admin only (I believe)... I don't think anyone can attach files to a PM. At least I can only do it to a post in one of the forums, not when sending a PM. @JediRevan: If you can't send the file via email you can upload it to some file hosting service like http://www.FileFront.com and send the link to it instead.
JediRevan Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 Would I need the permission of the person who created the mod?
Emperor Devon Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Not if you don't post the link publicly or remove the file when you're done.
tk102 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Tangent: Though can't attach a file per se, you could kick it old school and embed a file in a PM with uuencode. Large files might need a few PMs. begin 0666 smilie.gif M1TE&.#EA#P`/`-4_`/_XJ__XHO#HD/_XH-++?M_8AO_WF_'JD=7/@/_\U<[( M?.KCC/_[TO_\V?_YL?_YL/_XI^[GC]W6A/_[sOWUF/_YM?_WG?KREO_[RO_\ MW/_[Q__ZO<?!=^;?BO_ZN^CAB_;NE/OSEO_XI?3MD_;ND__ZPL*\=<K#><O% M>O[VF/OSE__\V/_YM/_[QO_ZO/_ZP/_YK^GBC/_[R?_\T__WF>':A__ZO]G2 M@OSTE_GQE>/<B/_\V__XJ,&[=````*2DI"'Y!`$``#\`+``````/``\```:1 MP)]0Z"L6A\A?,;-B8%Y'I"^3V24F+<\#XAOZ5HW&56-C\2R7KI(Q*Y8\E6+H MT/5I,++B`\#U'3XU11L;+A4``18&*@<=$@A%#@XPAP8T%"0Q$@0H12(!`0,& M%#@Y$04$'"9%*6D@(P<""P4*/CT]=1$+/CH%CB>UMT0=!3=&1;;!1`@*',C( ,:E[`S]!)QM0_00`[ ` end
Qui-Gon Glenn Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 You could always get the target members email address... and attach it..... :shrugs:

stoffe Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 "You are a huge nerd! :D" --Prime "And tk102 has just scored Uber-Supreme Geek on the Geek test with that one." --Jae Onasi "Star Wars: Nerd of the forums" --Darth333 I'd love to be able to join the chorus, but that would probably be a bit hypocritical. Sending binhexed/uuencoded/base64-encoded files via PM is probably no hit though, the length limit of PMs would likely require hundreds of PMs to send most mod files, and Lucasforums isn't really intended to be a file hosting service. Easier to just upload it somewhere and privately send the link to those who need it. If you don't provide the link publically it would probably count as private sharing among a closed group and not as redistribution.

ChAiNz.2da Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Is a bit too complicated for me, although that might be due to the fact that I didn't click that link Quick & Dirty (easy) way to decode: copy and paste the snippets in a .txt file, HOWEVER.. change or 'save' the extension to .uue eg. filename.uue Then double-click it.. WinRar, WinZip, etc. will "decode" it for you and place a readable version for you on the desktop
