Bee Hoon
*shrugs* Drink less beer, take more walks. And that is the take-home message of today:P
Q
Heh. Hops shortage. I don't think that this will affect the big American breweries much, though, given that their "beer" is basically carbonated water with some artificial flavor, color, preservatives and alcohol thrown in. Good thing I prefer ale.
adamqd
I'm in the UK and I'm 3 years sober, so it doesn't effect me, but a tip for the Americans, put the same amount of alcohol in the Beer as we have = less beer to get drunk, less hops used! (j/k, Don't drink!)
Q
^^^ Congrats on the three years of sobriety. My sister has been sober for 12. I don't even drink regularly these days, but once a year I go on a real bender just to remind myself why I don't do it regularly any more.

Q
Yes, I'm a fan of the great neutral spirit myself. It's the best cocktail liquor on the planet. It'll mix well with Koolaid.

Aash Li
Umm... whats stopping them from growing more hops? They arent like trees. It takes one season for the plant to grow and produce the flowers or seeds to are used in beer. >.> Geez talk about anti-climatic news...

Mace MacLeod
http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080525/ts_alt_afp/uscommoditiesfooddrinkbeer comments? I remember reading about this in the paper at least a couple of months ago. Old news. No noticeable price increase yet discerned for Corona, Okanagan Springs, Granville Island or Guiness breweries. Gas prices routinely inflate to absurd amounts, but beer pricing remains more or less stable in my little corner of the world so far.
Totenkopf
I got the impression it was more of a short term future problem. Didn't get the impression it was going to be a crisis though. Wonder what some of the tweaking will do to taste (o'course w/all the flavors out there, could you really tell)?

Mace MacLeod
*Update* No price increase in Guiness draft reflected at liquor store today. Also, vodka and rum prices have not increased since yesterday. I'd better go try the pub--will submit reports as the situation demands.

Also, vodka and rum prices have not increased since yesterday. I'd better go try the pub--will submit reports as the situation demands. Vodka and rum prices only likely to increase w/fuel costs, democrat sweep in Nov (more sin taxes probably) or some unforseen (as of now) problem. As to beer, don't really drink it often enough either to care a great deal. Besides, we've recently had a 10% beer/booze levy in the recent past to make up for govt. revenue shortfalls. However, if vodka and rum prices go up...be sure to let me know so that I can switch to gin and whiskey.
