jonathan7
Assumptions? These type of threads are like 'religion threads without the religion', ie. people flapping their arms about thinking they are right and others are wrong. Here are some basic rights and responsibilities we have when expressing our opinion in a public forum: *We should not harrass others that our view is correct, and the other persons is not *We can ever hope to change another persons outlook *By attacking another persons outlook, we should not want our view to be be transferred to that other person a) How have I harassed you? You may wish to review the definition of harass... Last time I checked freedom of speech was in action and I have merely debated; lest you be a member of the PC police. b) What on earth is wrong with trying to persuade someone they are wtong? c) How on earth have I attacked your outlook? You claim Man Utd play a long ball game and I disagree... A7, I have continually presented evidence for the contrary of Man Utd playing long ball football - I have yet to see you produce any evidence, your entitled to your opinion - that doesn't mean your right, neither have I seen anyone in thread back up your claims for Man Utd playing a LB game, ergo I can only conclude that you have a bias and are unwilling to consider that you could be wrong. I think many teams in the Premier League play the long ball game, but rarely have Man Utd ever played it over the last few years. Like I have said, its not a math problem with a finite answer. Just learn to live with others opinions, even if it disrupts your ordered sense of the world! Eh? I'm more than happy for you to have your incorrect opinion, if your that traumatised; stop debating. Now, you've mentioned your 'credentials' twice now. My credentials go no further than being a (non professional) player and being a spectator, which is as far as many our credentials here would go, I dare say Just out of curiousity. what are your credentials? By all means tell us , Im quite intrigued I've played semi-pro, I'm a coach (including coaching for the Brazilian football association), referee and on occasion have articles published. As for the ManU LB saga It seems Im in good company when I muse that MU havent entirely been able to shake of their LB mantle... now jonathan, whether you decide to reveal your credentials to us or not, I dont mind being wrong along with the fabulous Mr Cruyff I'd say he knows a little bit about football !! Im not saying any more on the subject than "I agree with Mr Cruyff!" You present that as evidence? United played horribly against Barca in the semi - mainly to win, that is not the way they played in the rest of the competition. However the way they played against Barca meant had they been playing anyone but Chelsea in the final I would of been supporting the team Utd played against, due to the anti-football they played in the semi. United may have played a very defensive game against Barca; which completely betrayed the way Man Utd normally play; but given Cruyff said Barca would pull United apart - I would just clap at him and say great prediction there Johan. Anyway I submit this as counter evidence; http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manchester-United-Season-Review-2007/dp/B00153NOQ8 In it you will find very few long ball goals. as I said, agree to disagree is the key. If you wish to end the discussion we can... ...30 mins to go to Italy v Spain, may the team that works the hardest win! Italians are playing anti-football; hopefully Spain can break them down - Spain on top and the only team attempting to win. I think Spain should have had a penalty (Ambrosini on Villa), I think the Ref has been poor so far; hopefully Spainish courage will overcome Italian cynicism and fear. jonathan7
"Talk. Football. Period. <snip>[/img] ...or I'll headbutt you!" Yeh, well, I'll set him on you; EDIT: GOOD RIDDANCE TO THE ITALIAN COWARDS!!!!!! Parallel to 94 shootout? Italians didn't attack at all... Mario Silver hit a post with Pagluica spilling it.... Buffon... Senna Anyway I am very happy to say goodbye to that horrible, pathetic anti-footballing performance!
Astrotoy7
congrats to spain! never good to see any match go down to penalties, but Spain did knock the ball around better at J7. yes lets end the discussion. Nothing you can say can ever dissuade me and Mr Cruyffs beliefs!! You're a coach for the brazillian FA? cool. But does that mean your words are golden and I should fall to my knees? Not me, not over such a non-finite topic! Get over it! Anyway, enough... Yes, enough.... --Jae OT>>>EURO 2008!! VIVA LA ESPANA!! and lets see what our boys can do against Germany. Win or lose. We've had a good trot, and the Turkish community worldwide will be celebrating mtfbwya

Astrotoy7
I just hope Turkey beats Germany and Spain beats Russia ... I want Turkey to play against SPain ... Many have pointed out Arshavins absence in Russia's first game loss against Spain. Things arent likely to be as easy for Spain this time. It should be a great game to watch though Im easy for either team to win, all four semi finalists deserve to be there IMO. They put in good performances when they counted Of course, it would be a great boost to Turkish and Russian football were either of those teams to win They could do with the Pesos! mtfbwya

Miltiades
What an awful match. I knew from the beginning there was a great chance on penalties. Maybe I should've listened to myself and not have watched the first 120 minutes. Bah! After one of the best matches (IMO) of the tournament yesterday, probably the most awful one today. Though I'm happy Spain's through and not Italy. They don't deserve it. Still, I'm rooting for Russia against Spain. Payback time!
mur'phon
Gah, why can't Russia just drop out? I normaly don't watch football (playing=, watching other people play=), but since I'm moving to Russia, I promised that I would watch each of their matches. Stupid I know, but weren't they suposed to be a bad team, dropping out at the earliest opportunity? But noooo, they are tearing through stuff like a bull in a red lights district, considering my luck, I won't be surprised if they end up as champions. Miltiades
but weren't they suposed to be a bad team' date=' dropping out at the earliest opportunity?[/quote'] Always check the coach of the team before supposing something. If his name's Hiddink, don't ever suppose anything, expect the most unthinkable.
lukeiamyourdad
Yesterday, I was sad that the Dutch lost... Today, life runs through my veins once again! WHOOOO!!! They're out of the tournament! Italy is out of the tournament! Whoooo!!!

Astrotoy7
Yesterday, I was sad that the Dutch lost... Today, life runs through my veins once again! WHOOOO!!! They're out of the tournament! Italy is out of the tournament! Whoooo!!! and thankfully, they *clearly* have no one to blame but themselves this time... not a referee conspiracy, bad decision, shady rule etc I watched the match with Italian friends, and rather than the usual orgy of complaining they indulge in when they lose, they went home quietly, admitting theit team were thoroughly outplayed. What a sad outfit they were without Andrea Pirlo...a team that relies so much on one man surely has something to worry about.. I did the maths: They got as many shots on goal in the shootout than they did in the entire game....and they couldnt convert most of them either... how funny that Donadoni put on the penalty takers from 2006 !! Talk about confidence[/not] !! @murph > if your tips are a curse, then please pray for Germany to win against our boys in semi 1! Haydi Turkiye! Haydi Genc Aslanlarimiz! (Forward! The Young Lions of Turkiye!) mtfbwya
Rabish Bini
I be now officially rooting for Russia, and I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up wining it. A team which has a coach by the anem of Guus Hiddink is ALWAYS a threat. Like Australia in the 06 WC. Just a piece of useless knowledge but, every time Aus has made the WC, it's been under a Dutchman, and now Aus is under another Dutchman, Pim Verbeek. And I am rapped Italy didn't make it through, Anti-Football has no rights (xp)
Miltiades
I remember Italy-Australia at WC06, and that match could've turned out very differently. I don't think I've ever cursed louder than the moment the Italians got a penalty.

I don't think I've ever cursed louder than the moment the Italians got a penalty. Unwarranted sympathy is not a vice I suffer from, if you cannot score against ten men for over an hour, you don't deserve to win a game; especially if you have defenders as stupid as Lucas Neil diving in; crass stupidity that. It's nice that all the semi-finalists are generally attacking minded (I'm sure if Turkey didn't have their injury problems, they would have attacked against Croatia). Who do I want to win? Russia or Spain myself - my ultimate preference being Spain as they were my tip before hand, and they have tried to attack in all their games. I do think it is stupid that they meet again in the Semi Final - if they play again should be the final.

True about Oz though They had their chances that day, and then stupidity and bad luck took its course If you go in like Neill did against any Italian player in the box, what do you expect will happen! Thankfully the Spanish defenders were a bit more clever than that. mtfbwya
mur'phon
Astro: It dosen't work like that, it's more like 10 mins into a game a voice in my head screams "cheer for *insert team*", and voila, that team is bound to loose or it ends up even. I mean, I have cheered for Brazil every time they face Norway, and it always ends up even, or with the Braz loosing. I mean, look at the stats, Brazil haven't beaten Norway, then look at the diferences in skill betwen the two teams, I'm cursed I tell yeh:D

Which reminds me of Croatia's horrible WC98 loss to France. 2-0, cos of one of our players mistakes, the player who scored for France scored both goals, and he never scored in a match before, nor did he after. And Brazil was cr@p that year, had we have beaten France, we probably would've beaten Brazil and won our first WC. But that's the way life swings, hopefully we'll win one soon. GO RUSSIA!! Astrotoy7
wow...those sneaky krauts! Many Turkish fans, myself included were worried about a 3-0+ defeat simply because our team were so decimated. To have Germany play so ordinarily and for us to come so close... lolz. Anyway, congrats to Germany, and Turkey on another interesting spectacle I was going to say "Lets hope we can get up for 3rd" but there doesnt seem to be a 3/4 play off Like everyone else eliminated, Turkey can start recuperating and getting ready for their 2010 qualifiers. *Walks off proud* mtfbwya
