Gurges-Ahter Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I remember reading on a thread somewhere around here that it had been leaked the Apprentice's name started with an "S". That led to some discussion about it being "Starkiller", or Luke's alter-ego had he turned DS in Episode VI. I just read this on the Soulcalibur IV wiki: Quote A recent trailer reveals that Starkiller, Darth Vader's secret apprentice from Lucasarts' upcoming video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be included as a playable character on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions I don't know if it's incorrect, already been released, or an accidental leak confirming the name, but I thought I'd share anyway. Here's the link. EDIT: Maybe it's more common knowledge that I thought - I found this on TFU wiki: Quote Star Wars: The Force Unleashed tells the story of Darth Vader's secret apprentice, Starkiller, as he hunts down the Jedi remaining after Emperor Palpatine orders them killed.[7] Set in the dark times between Episode III and Episode IV, the story explores the aftermath of the Great Jedi Purge as well as the rise of Darth Vader, leading into the Original Trilogy.[1]
Ctrl Alt Del Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 I wouldn't make a big deal out of it, if you know what I mean. For all we know, the same person might have written both articles, and I don't think that dude in particular knows any more than we do.
Gurges-Ahter Posted June 8, 2008 Author Posted June 8, 2008 Yeah... at first (when I had only read the Soulcalibur IV wiki), I thought someone at SIV had accidentally leaked something that the TFU guys didn't want him to... but then after reading the TFU wiki I think you're probably right.
Rev7 Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 Perhaps it was because his last name was the start of a sentence?
GeneralPloKoon Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I read other places poeple are starting to call the apprentice Starkiller, but I don't really know...
M@RS Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Check this out... http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Starkiller_%28Secret_Apprentice%29 I don't know if this helps or not...
Rev7 Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I will only 100% believe it once LA announces it, or that is what it says in the game....
Ctrl Alt Del Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I don't get how it can be a confirmation in any way. God, Starkiller really sounds like a cheesy name
Astor Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I have to be honest, I'm not a big fan of 'Starkiller'. It sounds like a silly name - and it doesn't really say 'Secret' either. They maybe should have stuck with just 'Apprentice', like the KOTOR series - him not having a name would add to the mystery.
PoiuyWired Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Well, the name does not have to sound "secret" or it would be something like "bob stealth" or "cardboard box" or things like that.
Astor Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 True, but out of the doubtless hundreds of names they could have used, they used 'Starkiller'. I maybe should have phrased it a bit better. 'Subtle' would have been a better word than secret. It's just that Starkiller is about as unsubtle as you could get for a character whose very existence is only apparently known by around six people.
M@RS Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Starkiller, is okay, I've said it before, but I will say it again, Starkiller should've been named Draefund, it means hunter, and in the TFU, I think he'll be hunting down jedi and other people...
Gurges-Ahter Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 The only problem I have with "Starkiller" is that it's been used before.
Astor Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I'm not sure if its been used before, but the original draft for Star Wars saw a character called Annikin Starkiller - who would later turn into Luke Skywalker.
M@RS Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I also know that Starkiller, is what Luke would have been had he joined Vader and Sidious
Jeff Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 M@RS said: I also know that Starkiller, is what Luke would have been had he joined Vader and SidiousI don't think thats literal, I think they're saying more that the apprentice is what Luke would be like had he chosen the Dark side, hence giving him a name that was originally meant for Luke. I don't believe Starkiller has ever made it into Star Wars before.

Jeff Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Jason Skywalker said: Bendak Starkiller.Damn I forgot about that one, and that was even mentioned earlier wasn't it.
Gurges-Ahter Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Yeah Bendak is what I was thinking of, and I think there's even been a couple more (Banol Starkiller and Pashna Starkiller in Galaxies). I don't know if those count though.
Pho3nix Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Starkiller? That's...kind of lame in my opinion, I would've preferred something less Skywalker-ish.
Gurges-Ahter Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Before I declare it lame I will need to know his backstory in full. I wish they had picked something that hand't been used before, but if the story fits then I'm ok with it. I think the key will be finding out who his mother is (if he really is the son of Kento).
Gurges-Ahter Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 **Update: I just read this on the Starkiller wiki** Quote Vader's apprentice is the main protagonist of the video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. His name is reported to be Starkiller but it was stated by Adam Kahn (Senior PR Manager at LucasArts) that it is just a code name. His real name is yet to be revealed.
