HerbieZ
Yeah, so i'm going to Las Vegas on the 16th, i have made a list of a few places i want to go including a few casinos, stratosphere, Star Trek the Experience and some out of the way firing range. I just wanted to know if anyone has been before and what they went to see. If not, i'd love to read your opinions on Vegas as a whole and what you would do there if you went. Burnseyy
Never been, so I wouldn't have an opinion Though I bet its one of those places you either love or hate.

mimartin
I went for a bachelor party and saw some interesting sites. Overall, I would suggest the Stratosphere and New York-New York. I also really enjoyed the Bellagio, but it had something to do with winning $1,500.00 at slots. I don’t gamble, but we spent about 6 hours walking around and I needed to set down. There are signs everywhere saying if you set you most play so I spent $20.00 and won $75.00 on the first pull. Three pulls later, I had Tabasco’s across the board. Hoover Dam was pretty cool, at least it was the first 30 minutes.
HerbieZ
Man that sounds ace. I am easily caught up in the simplest things so i think just being there is gonna have me excited beyond anything.

Aaah, mimartin beat me to it! I´ve never been there myself but my friend went and said the Stratophere was awesome. I looked New York- New York up online - looks sweet! Hoover Dam: Had a teacher that stopped in Vegas for a day on his way to California, and what was the only thing he did? - The Hoover Dam. Sigh... teachers... Just remember the old saying: "What happens in Vegas" - well you know. Have a kickass time! -HOP

Taos
The club at the Luxor is pretty sweet - or at least it was when i was there. Drinking as you're walking down the strip is fun too. I have to second the mention for NY NY. They have an amazing roller coaster ride if that's your thing. Oh and ESPN zone is there too! The fountain at the Bellagio is something you should see. Stratosphere is sweet, but that's on the far end of the strip. Be ready for the "ads" you will be getting handed to you on the street. ^_~ And damn, it will be hot there at that time. HerbieZ if you find yourself in a bar doing really well with a young woman you have just meet be careful that she is not a member of that ancient profession. One of the guys at the bachelor party has yet to live down that happening to him. We did get a good laugh out of it, I just hope his wife does not read this. KinchyB
The Happiest place on Earth. Don't beleive that Disney stuff...they stole it from Vegas. Vegas is the place where a dream can come true in a split second, and then ripped away the next like a ninja attacking a baby stroller. Does it get much better than that, I think not! So what's the intinerary look like Herbie?! We need some details!
Achilles
The Happiest place on Earth. Don't beleive that Disney stuff...they stole it from Vegas.KinchyB's just upset that they don't have strippers in Disneyland. I think Vegas is someplace that everyone should go once so that they can say that they've been, but then again, I fall into Burnseyy's "hate it" category. How can you hate a place where there is so much happiness?! It's like saying that Bambi's mom should have been shot more in the movie. It makes no sense regardless of if it's true or not! Achilles
I guess that depends on what makes one happy. "Bambi's mom" from the classic movie or that other "film" with a character named "Bambi" that you were telling me about?
KinchyB
I guess that depends on what makes one happy. Hmmm, I looked it up and here's the official verdict... "Vegas = Fun" ... so there! Source... "Bambi's mom" from the classic movie or that other "film" with a character named "Bambi" that you were telling me about? The "Classic" movie if you want to call it that. Personally I would go with "overrated deer-hugging apocalyptic hippy movie".
Achilles
Hmmm, I looked it up and here's the official verdict... "Vegas = Fun" ... so there! Source... THIS ISN'T KAVAR'S!!1!!eleventy-eleven1!! The "Classic" movie if you want to call it that. Personally I would go with "overrated deer-hugging apocalyptic hippy movie". hippies don't hug deers, they hug trees. I personally think that if they want to build a world-wide touristy destination type-thing they shouldn't do it in the middle of a desert. I, personally, think the whole "Vegas" thing is overrated. It's kinda like saying "ooo, I met 'celebrity xyz'". Which is cool. Except that if person xyz wasn't a celebrity, then no one would really care. Same thing applies here. KinchyB
THIS ISN'T KAVAR'S!!1!!eleventy-eleven1!! Please refer to my previous post for the answer to this quote, thank you. :disapoint hippies don't hug deers, they hug trees. I personally think that if they want to build a world-wide touristy destination type-thing they shouldn't do it in the middle of a desert. Actually, from a business standpoint it was genius. If you want people in your store/casino and not outside, where do you build? The Desert!! Not to mention cheaper land prices for building since back in the day it wasn't a hot bed for real estate. Combine that with something that is addictive and, BAM, you are a millionaire...or in the mob...or both! I, personally, think the whole "Vegas" thing is overrated. It's kinda like saying "ooo, I met 'celebrity xyz'". Which is cool. Except that if person xyz wasn't a celebrity, then no one would really care. Same thing applies here. Well, it's a good thing person XYZ is a celebrity then, huh?! So in a weird round-a-bout way you just agreed that Vegas is the bestest place on earth! WOOT!!! I win! HerbieZ
My itinerary? I'm going by myself so don't worry i'll be alert. Just want a place to disappear for a week and get away from the real world for abit. Mainly going to do the Star Trek experience (childhood dream here) before it finally closes, other than that i'll probably be coasting in the casinos every night. The trick is not to spend all my money because i kind of left my job so i could go on holiday (they would'nt give me the time off). So when i get back i'm going to be screwed. The plan is, if i like America that much, i'm gonna go back there next year and travel for as long as i possibly can. A silly thing to do as alot of people told me, but if you don't force yourself into gear, you stay just still. Things were beginning to stagnate anyway. Personally, I'm not looking forward to the day where the government limits my showers because a bunch of spoiled rich people a few hundred miles to the northwest want to see a bunch of pretty lights. My opinion would be a lot lower if I would have lost my $20.00. It's kinda like saying "ooo, I met 'celebrity xyz'". Which is cool.ooo, that reminds me. I met Pete Rose while in Vegas.
