Is it just me or is halo sort of turning into the sims?
Not any more than any other popular series. Look at Fallout 3, buying all the expansions is almost as much as buying the full game. All successful game series will have expansions and spinoffs these days. I haven't seen much for Reach yet, but I think ODST looks pretty cool.

Yay more Halo, I'm so excited. [/sarcasm] ¬_¬

If it sells, sell it mate.

I just hope that they span the series out enough so there will be enough of the Halo universe left for the next gen consoles.

I'm right there with you Mandalore, I've also read the books. If Halo Reach is just like the Battle of Reach in the books, than that will be a sick game. I really want to fight alongside other AI controlled spartans and Bungie can't dance there way around no Elites like they're doing for ODST.

Halo is "epic" but it's "done to death epic" as in other things have done it before and Halo is just recycling ideas in a package that seems to appeal to a lot of people. Personally I'm not a fan of Halo, but I have played and finished all the games, etc.

About the only thing about Halo that I can say is that it's very easy for people to get into and it has a decent multiplayer setup. The story itself, as I said before has been done, but then First Person Shooters are never about the deep story line, rather the story serves as a premise to kick some ass and chew some bubblegum.

Of course Halo is popular, but not everyone is into Space Marines...

While Halo's rating is Mature in content, it tends to appeal to a variety of ages. Sure there's always going to be 14 year olds who won't stop bragging over what they did in Halo, but ignore that and you still have a fun game. I can see people not being a fan of the game or not liking it all together but that doesn't mean every fan of the game is an annoying 14 year old.

I understand what you are saying to some degree but i still maintain that halo *did* have a good story untill it started being corrupted by the multiplayer craze then it started to decline a bit but what they are trying to do with reach and ODST is show other angles of the story so it isnt quite the same but it is still Halo and i disagree with your comment that it has "been done before"

That's fine. We just have differing opinions that's all. I guess it depends on what other media we've played/viewed as well. I guess I can just make a connection from Halo to a lot of other media that I've seen in the past which is why I think it's been done. But other people who haven't seen/played the same things I have will see a different view. So when I play Halo, I don't play it for the story at all, rather the gameplay itself. The most enjoyable aspect of the game is the multiplayer and the co-op mode which is the most value I got out of the series.

But originally I was just answering your question about what the others were talking about.

Actually, I'm more interested in ODST than Reach because it will have more "out of the box" game play rather than the standard FPS thing that Halo usually does.
