It is a known fact that women make the best drivers, the statistics prove it and can't be argued with. The most car crash deaths are men under the age of 20.

Why do we make the best drivers? Because we don't take nearly as many chances as men and we are not out there trying to prove some point. Most men it seems are always trying to be flashier than the other guy.

Of course I am not saying all men are bad drivers, I just wish alot of men wouldn't turn into hormonal monsters every time they get behind a wheel.

I voted for 'I drive safely'. I have children to consider and I wouldn't dream of putting thier lives at risk for no reason other than ego.

Drive Safely!

i voted i drive savely.

im driving for about 3and a haf year now and the only thing i ever got was a ticket for wrong parking.

i can drive very well with my car, im not such a ****in moron who drives so fast that hes lucky to be alive after evry time he drives. i know such guys and i sux when u hear they died because of such thing.

i also like the speed, but i dont go endangering myself or others. so when i feel the need for speed i go to a racetrack (ridin those carts).

and an advice: always wear ur seatbelt! (or ur a moron)

i been driving for almost 4 years now and i've only had the one crash, which was due to severely bad weather, no one got hurt, just £5000 ($8000 approx) damage done. none to my car, i think my car is indestructible, not a scrach on my car.

i think maybe i go a little too fast but i'm very comfortable with the way i drive.

I can't drive yet (17, have to be 18 to drive here), but my dad is a very skilled driver. He has drove a truck for many years and can find his way around europe quite easily.

My mum isn't a very skilled driver - she only dares to drive in the city we live in, and the road to my grannie.

However, I still feel more safe in our car when my mum is driving, simply because she never exceeds the speed limit - "just for the fun of it". Don't get me wrong, my dad can drive very safely even when he is speeding (or "merely driving fast", which he always does), but I just fear that one day we'll end up in a carcrash with him....

Though I didn't get hurt, I once had a car smashing into my bike at 50 km/h with me on the bike - Big respect for fast vehicles now...

Doubt I'll get a driving license for a few years atm.

Thing is, I used to drive very fast. One day the car in front of me knocked over a little girl. I was distraught as you can imagine. No one should ever have to see or be involved in such a thing. I still don't know to this day whether she survived or not. It totally changed my way of thinking.

Why was I driving fast all the time? To act like a bad ass? Yes. I now realise that you don't look like a bad ass, you look like a fool who is driving fast to be a flash git for no other reason than it boosts your ego infront of complete strangers or to impress your friends.

When you drive fast, not only does it put others lives at risk but it puts you and any passengers lives at risk. Time to stop thinking about yourselves and how you look and time to start thinking about other road users and innocent lives.

Well folks,

I'm banned from driving indefinitely pending an extended retest which lasts 1 hr 10 mins, the reason being I got caught driving on the path (sidewalk).

My own fault yes, there is a bit more to this story but it's best not to become public knowledge. Suffice to say my indiscretion was frontpage news here in England:rolleyes:

It's a little naughty but not illegal so I still have a practice from time to time on private roads and wasteland. When my mate gets a new car he always lets me take it for a spin up the private road, God damn it was soooo cool when he got a Porsche.

Anyways regarding the male/female driver question I believe its down to the individual I know bad male and bad female drivers to be honest the most dangerous people on the road are very old men that seem incapable of going above 20 mph, they make other drivers infuriated and as such they begin to take silly risks.

My Mother has a saying, - drivers wearing hats are the dangerous ones, this does ring true, Old men with caps on and 17 yr old idiots with baseball caps, they are the idiots out there.

I used to drive like a maniac when I was younger. Would take all sorts of risks and end up paying the price. Now that I have children, like leXX, I have been able to see the difference in my driving. I watch everywhere I go, because you never know when someone like I used to be will come tearing along. I am a very defensive driver now.

I occasionally go over the speedlimit, but only when I am on a highway, when travelling.

Seen to many wrecks and people hurt bad to drive like a maniac anymore.

Peace

I think those stats were compiled before the advent of the cell phone!! :D

In all seriuousness, I am 33 and have logged 500,000 miles or more since I began driving. That's about 800,000kms for you Europeans. In that time, I have witnessed a lot of accidents. Driving too fast/aggressive is just stupid. BTDT. No doubt that young male drivers are the most dangerous on the planet, but there are plenty of bonehead women drivers too. It is timidity (and not paying attention) that I observe are the most common issues with dangerous women drivers. I once had a lady (a school teacher to boot!) lose control of her car going around a slow corner in my neighborhood and she drove right into my bedroom! She had it floored. Damn good thing I wasn't in bed!

leXX made another very good point about children. There are a lot of young men here so I am going to be really honest with you about something: Men and their families. When you drive like an idiot, you are endangering others. If you want to kill yourself, that is your issue. If you want to put my children in danger, you will have to answer to me. I am not a violent person by nature (quite the opposite), but I can become more than just a little dangerous when my family is threatened. This is especially true of my daughters for some reason. If you hurt one of my baby girls, you might not survive if I can get to you. I'm sure I'm not the only father who feels this way. Please drive safely.

heres my view... to change a phrase soemwhat, cars dont kill people, stupid people with cars kill people...

I think it is unfair to say that 17/male are the most deadly force on the planet... the most destructive force i speople who dont pay attition/are plain bad drivers.

this could be anyone. from a personal viewpoint, automaticly grouping anyone by a statistic which has little or no use to the subject, is wrong.

you are saying that women NEVER make mistakes? common, gimme a break... I am not saying that men never do either, but it sounds like the rubber stamp syndrone to me...(you're 17 and male? *STAMPONFOREHEAD* you must be a idiot)

example: I am almost 17 and have been driving for nearly 18 months... I am still on a permit, but that is the system in this state. I have not had a accident, YET. it would be stupid to say I will never be in one. I do have this slight speeding problem on the highway, but not bad, maybe 5-10 over the limit... however, only if that is what the trafic is doing at the time, if I find I am passing everyone, I will slow it down(NEVER be the fastest car on the road, let SOMEONE be faster)

does this make me a bad driver?

of course weather has a factor in all of this, yet none of you has gone into that at all.

moving on, we were talking about cars that make you say "WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!!?!?!?"

explorers. bar none. with the cellphone. and the newspaper. and the bigmac. the works...:D

makes me glad I drive somthing with huge tires and good brakes.;)

When did I say women never mistakes? I didn't! Thank you.

Of course women make mistakes same as men and there are plenty of bad women drivers out there. What I am simply trying to point out is that most of the people who drive 'dangerously' are young males with ego problems. If you are not one of those ppl then good for you.

It seems to be the male majority point of view that when you get in a car, you are not a good driver unless you drive fast with the music blaring. Well I used to drive damn fast and let me tell you, I'm a bloody good driver but I have now realised that lives were at risk when I acted this way.

So don't try and make out I'm some sort of women's activist. I'm simply trying to put it in a few ppl's head that driving fast does not make you cool, it make you an idiot.

I hope my words might stop someone in this forum growing up to be another dangerous idiot and in so doing I might indirectly save someone's life.

Well, I voted "I drive safely" because I do. I've been driving for over 3 years, never got a ticket, a warning, never been in an accident, nothing. But, I don't drive "Slow" as you put it, but I don't speed excessively. If the limit is 50Kmh, I'll do 57 or 58, not because I can, but because I have to. Everyone drives at least a few Km over the limit, so I have to do it in order to keep up with traffic. I have seen people excessively speeding though, like the time I got passed by someone(in a no passing zone to boot), doing 120 Kmh... in a 50 zone!

I felt like voting "There are two kinds..." as well, because you would not believe how many idots(male and female, not taking a side here) I've seen in my few years of driving. I've seen so many close calls and so many stupid things, it's not even funny. I saw someone do a U-turn on the main road of my town, now that, is just stupid.

If sometimes I do feel like speeding, I do it only when it's me in the car, if I die, it's no big loss. I'm not taking anyone with me, that's what matters. And I usually do it on abandoned or seldom used roads, just in case you're wondering. You can't drive a 67 Camaro without wanting to "Floor it" every so often:D

your source for this info is flawed, maybe you ment a socialy "cool" driver, but I hope not a "good" driver.

point. also note that I was not intending to make that point of "make out (you're) some sort of women's activist" if it came off like this, I am sorry. i'd think you don't like geting put in a catagory any more then I do.

2 last points, 1; as the guy who oversees this thread, lets cool it before this gets totally out of hand, ok? and 2; "fast does not make you cool, it make you an idiot." there is more then one "fast". there is the speedlimit drivers. the WTF is wrong with you! kind.(I think you ment this kind) and the simply fast people, who do drive fast, but not recklessly. I have(and will) NEVER jumped 3 lanes with only a 2 car space to do it in. I have SEEN this done more times then I can count. this is plain reckless...

I'm not putting you in a catergory either! If you are not one of these idiots then you have nothing to worry about do you.

When I talk about fast driving, I am talking about ppl who drive 'exceedingly' fast and take an extreme amount of risks on a daily basis for no good reason.

The speed limit here is 30mph on the roads and 70mph on the motorway. Well I think 30 is far too slow and I drive at 35-40 on the roads and 75-80mph on the motorway. I don't think if you go over the speed limit this makes you a bad driver, I think if you drive extremely fast this makes you a bad driver. Doing 60 down a 30mph road is putting lives at risk and I see this more and more every day.

who said THIS? not me.

your source for this info is flawed, maybe you ment a socialy "cool" driver, but I hope not a "good" driver.

I did mean 'good' driver. I have many many male friends who think if you don't drive fast it must mean you can't drive.

Hmmm, too many people arguing about driving in this thread. The main point to see is that there are too many dumbassed people driving today who really dont know how to. This is regardless of sex too. Men drivers are equally as good/bad as female drivers, and there are many stats backing that as well.

I have been involved in tow accidents myself (neither my fault), and have witnessed much more from bump ups to a tracker trailer plowing through a small economy car destroying it and the driver. It was bone chillin. I have also lost some friends due to road accidents.

Just drive carefull, and like you have some sense. Its really not that hard, just pay attendtion.

Well, i took some advice ( not that i drive), think of your car like a dangerous weapons, like a gun with your finger on the trigger. If you run around with a gun in your hand carlessly you'll have an accident, if you walk sensibly then you won't kill anyone or crash.

Just a tid bit of info someone told me. Maybe i'm jsut stupid.
