What's a prequel in this case?

And I'd still like to know the answer to this question: What's the difference between a democrat and a republican?

-Is a democrat trying to turn the society into a democracy?

-And is a republican trying to turn it into a republic, like rome?

Oh, well..... I guess I'm kinda pro democracy in this case - and I happen to like the prequels....

One, please please please tell me your joking.

Two, if your not... well I truly pity your understanding of America and it's politcal party. At least raving democrats know they're democrats and know who aren't... (Oh, and I'm republican.)

Third, America is a republic. That is we elect officals to repersent us in a national congress. In a democracy every indavidual person votes on every issue themselves and there are no elected officals. That is everyone can propose propostions and admendemnts same with everyone else.

Oh and the easiest way to sum up both parties is very simple.

Republicans believe that you should work for your own living and be responsible for yourself with the minimum of goverment intervention in your life.

Democrats believe that the goverment should be responsible for everyone in the nation and controll how you live.

I guess something to do with the way palpatine came to power, etc. *really confused*

btw, i was just kidding, so before any of you go shooting anti-communistic remarks, i'm republican.

i've been told the differences:

Republican's are conservative

Democrats are liberal

consult a dictionary if you don't know, or be like me and not give a damn.

cjais where do you live, mars? that is the dumbest thing ive ever heard. Are you like 8 years old? honestly, democrats are:

*pro abortion (they want to stick a needle in a baby to kill it and watch it slowly die from the low grade toxins)

*anti economy enviromentalists

*want to raise taxes to help the poor

*want bigger government

*give away money to slackers and bums who dont have jobs

*have corrupt and stupid leaders like daschle

*are typically uninformed inner city voters

Republicans:

*Flat tax cut/raise

*anti abortion

*strong leadership

*want the government to meddle less with the economy

*are educated people over 40

*are farmers

*generally add to and help the economy grow on its own (you cant tell me otherwise on this, clinton killed the world economy, it went down in his term, not bush's)

*Strong Leadership

and did i say republicans have strong leadership?

Daschle is the stupidest **** of a leader ever, not only can bush's agenda not be passed, but no agenda can be passed. Daschle stopped the US government from working and he likes to cheat in elections.

Biggest reason to be a rupublican

Daschle is a loser.

Hey Jedi Monk...how about a 5th option. Don't care about either party and enjoyed the prequals! That's where I'm at.......:D

I guess though, if you did that, you'd have to make a 6th as well.....*shrugs* oh well.

Excuse me?

Bush has a very very low I.Q. And he's a republican.

Oh and why didnt Bush sign the Kyoto Agreement? the one where, you know,he gives a damn about the enviroment?

Tyrion you just dont get it, bush is a very intelligent man, and is kind and he is a republican. The enviroment dosent matter anyway. I know most young people are democrats because democrats are liberal, but i will go with guliani on this one all the way

Guliani:

If you are not a liberal by the time you are 20 you are heartless, if you are not a conservative republican by the time you are 40, you are stupid

Tyrion the democrats suck, they have such poor leadership it isnt even funny. AND they support abortion and will screw the economy to hell for the enviroment.

Erm..

more like...

would I rather have a car to drive or electricity, or bad enough air to make me die by 70 or 60 instead of 80 or 90?

Guys, this argument will go nowhere......swallow some pride and just accept the fact that neither of you will be able to convince one another of being "right". You both have your own values and ideas. So just agree to disagree and move forward from this......

Crado & Salvondax: Guys, please accept that there are people here from outside the states, that just happen to know nothing about your ruling system...

Oh, I always thought that USA was a democracy - guess I was wrong.

Now, stop calling me names and insult me or I'll report you. The way you (crado) put out the political system is clearly biased, despite my apparent otherworldly ignorance of your God-blessed ruling system. Well, liberalism is the lesser evil of the two - I can't see how conservatism can change or do anything, it's name says it all.

Abortion doesn't necessarily involve "sticking a needle into a baby" - we're talking about embryos, no more than 50 cells in some cases. And the "baby" has not even developed a nerve system yet, so it obviously cannot feel anything, much less think.

I very much agree with you, Cjais. the views from some of these Americans are heavily biased, and someone doesn't even know what he's talking about.

In a democracy every indavidual person votes on every issue themselves and there are no elected officals. That is everyone can propose propostions and admendemnts same with everyone else.

Ah...the overwhelming American Arrogance reveals it's ugly face again..."we know everything, you know nothing, I feel so great pity for you because you don't live in America and don't know better." Could just as soon be talking like that..

Now, I'll assume your arrogance, and explain something for you. The word democracy comes from greek, demos - meaning "the free men". In a democracy, the people rule the country, not a king, emperor or lord . Don't you like to have control over your own life? Isn't that what you republicans want?

Most democracies aren't direct democracies, but representative democracies. This means that the people elect officials, and political parties that meet their own ideals, to rule the country for them. The party and officials that get the most votes, will form the government. Only the most important cases are decided by individual votes.

The opposite of democracy, is dictatorship. For your information: Dictatorships aren't good, and don't usually lead to good lives for the common people.

All republics are democracies, because the people, directly or indirectly make the desicions. The essence of democracy is freedom, if you don't have democracy, you'll not have freedom. (perhaps you'd have freedom if you had anarchy, but that's not too good either) Something to chew on for you from the "Country of Liberty".

The republicans have a very egotistical view on things, a view that I find repulsive. What's wrong with paying for social services so that people who are UNABLE to work can get money to buy bread? There will always be people to exploit the system, any system, so in a social system like this, there will be lazy people who live off the social services. But all systems are exploitable.

For examle, America today is a very corrupt system, and we see a development that are heading towards this: The rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer. Tell me what's good about that? Ever heard about a word called "empathy"? "Sympathy"? You must all be farmers...any educated and intelligent man must see the flaws in the republican way of thinking.

liberalism is a better system than conservatism.

The enviroment dosent matter anyway.

What's your IQ? I didn't believe they made people this stupid.

THis is utter bullsh^t.

-Pro-CHOICE

-anti economy, are you under a rock?! The economy was great until Bushie came to town. And don't feed me that blame Clinton crap either, do the math - Slow Economy + HUGE tax cut = Deficit

- Raise taxes to help the poor, gee and somehow you are against this and call yourselves Moral.

-bigger government? You mean like Bush telling your mailman to spy on you? Or perhaps like Ashcroft telling states what laws they are allowed to have?

-slackers and bums? I won't even comment on such utter nonsense.

-Corrupt and stupid? Sounds like Reagan to me.

"Did you sell arms to Iran?"

"I do not recall."

or maybe Nixon?

-uninformed inner city voters? As opposed to redneck farmers and trailer parks denizens like those that support the right? Or idiots that give their money to people like Pat Robertson?

Flat tax raises tax for middle Income. I know since I have seen it and I used to work on Capitol hill!

Pro Birth, since you want to force mothers to have kids but don't want to help them if they are poor. Right wingers don'pt give a damn about "life" unless its "life" in prison, or its a white kids that gets shot.

Strong leaders? You mean like Dick army? Muhahahahahaha

Educated people over 40? Is that why 90% of college professors vote Dem. They are VERY educated and over 40 most of the time.

Generally give tax cuts to big business and tell them that it is ok to dump toxins in your water supply in exchange for campaign money.

Never help the little guy

Always aid the rich

Want to ban everything and throw you in jail for ever for smoking a joint.

More Nonsense.

Bush = Kind man? If you consider kind a governor that has the most people put to death in one year ever in the united states "kind." Also he is against allowing criminals convicted PRIOR to dNA testing to have acces to such tests, thus if they are guilty or not it means nothing to ol' Lethal Injection Bush.

Bush = Samrt man? He scored a lower SAT score then I did a 1240 to be exact. He had a C+ to a B- average in Highschool. With these "quality" scores he still managed to get into YALE, where they turned down people with 4.0 average and 1500 SAT scores. Smart my ass, he was given the high life with out having to earn it by his daddy

Bush used Cocaine and he admits it. He was arrested for having it and was released without so much as an arrest record. What would happen to you if you got caught with drugs? Yup he got away with it and you would go to jail.

He was an admitted alcohlic. Got caught drunk driving 2 times. Once again, no arrest record. He got away, and none of us would.

He joined the National Gaurd to avoid Vietnam. Even though he would see no combat he still went AWOL for a series of months. No charges filed. Oince again he gets away where you or I would have rotted in jail.

Bush bought a baseball team. Used his dads influence to have the governor agree to build his team a new stadium, WITH TAX PAYER MONEY. He then sold the stadium and kept the money even though he didn't spend a dollar to build it.

Now that I have corrected this Bush is nice and smart garbage, I will address the enviroment.

The only time any republican has EVER restored and area of wilderness has been to make a hunting ground.

Also we had a Democrat in office for 8 years and the worst thing that happen to the US is that someone other then his wife sucked his ****. We have had two Bush's and have Two wars.

Also, you've gotta mention, when talking about Bush = Kind man, is that he disenfranchised God-knows how many voters in Florida. He said "I trust the people", but when it looked like the people hadn't selected him, he had his daddy's buddies in the Supreme Court stop the recounts and say he won. He said that he wanted to give power to the states, but he took his "case" to the Federal Supreme Court.

Edit: Another thing Republicans think (at least all of the Republicans I've talked to about it) is that people shouldn't protest the president, shouldn't try to utilize their Constitutionally-given Freedom of Speech. They say "if they hate America so much, they should get out". Well you know why I love America? Because I can speak out and rage against injustice! In another thread a couple months ago, CagedCredo, in specific, said he thought the police should've gunned down all of the protesters in Portland. That's not America, that's not democracy, that's fascism, and if that's the kind of country you want to live in, then move to a fascist country. This is the land of the Free.

Alright, you don't want to help people who are too "lazy" to get jobs. What about people who can't have jobs? What about retired people who have a fixed income? They either live by Medicare and social security, or they make the step toward independance and growing their income by playing the stock market! But oh wait... the stock market crashed, didn't it? A seven year low, isn't it? Well, so much for the elderly. Guess it's to the nursing homes for them--what, you can't afford that, either? You worked hard all your life to save up enough, and it turned out it wasn't enough, ho hum, you should've become a CEO

You're a good debater FatalStrike; glad to have you on my side, for a change ;)
