Just saw Harry Potter 2

Padanime, name change is due to the fact that JEDI was the old clan I was in, and I didn't want to use it on the forum any more.

As for the reviews of the movie, here it goes: I think that they made a mistake by not having more original music... much of it was used in the last movie, and it showed. There were some original pieces thrown in, but for the most part it's the same. Despite that, I think that this movie is better than the first one. The acting is still a little sketchy in some parts, but they're still young actors, so i'll cut them some slack. It was much darker than the first one (because the second book is pretty dark) but every book since two has been darker than the last. Special effects were top notch - I don't think the boys at ILM know how to do bad work. ;) All in all a great picture, even for those that are unfamiliar with the books or the first movie.

As for those that say it's for kids... I was in a sold out movie theatre and there were only a handful of kids - many of them crying because they were so scared by the end of the movie. I used to be a skeptic, but see one of the movies and it'll change your mind, I promise. Or at least you'll know for sure you won't like it. Hey, i'm 21 and I liked it. :D

You consider a Harry Potter book "dark"

Have you read the books? Didn't think so. It's not all exactly kid material. So be informed before you roll those eyes.

And Dark Helmet, scroll up. I answered all your questions in an earlier post. And yes, his name is Tom Marvolo Riddle.

Actually I have read all 4 books thank you very much. I consider myself an avid reader I think the Harry Potter series is far from dark.

Well, after reading the book, don't you think that when a student 50 years ago was murdered, Hagrid was framed, and a gigantic monster roaming the school trying to kill the students and huge spiders trying to eat Harry and Ron qualifies as a dark book?

I guess your parents being killed also qualifies as "chipper" and "upbeat."

ill roll my eyes all i want, at barnes and noble, and borders here all the HP books are in the kids section. so :roleyess: :roleyess: :roleyess:

and :p (im just messin bro, but they are in the kiddos section there)

but heres what i have to say...ive only seen the first HP movie, and i do believe that they are oriented more towards the younger crowd. One thing i liked about the movie is there was humor in it. In LoTR: FoTR they took out many many songs that the characters would sing during the adventures...many of which were quite funny. And ill admit...there were parts when i cried in FoTR, including the part when sam almost drowns...it shows their strong friendship bond, it reminds me of my best friends who died in april last year. And then a few other parts had me almost crying. And next summer i am going to New Zeland with our outdoor adventure crew here at the university...and might i add thats where LoTR was filmed...and ill get to see all those gorgeous views.

I'm taking my daughter to see it tommorow. I'm looking forward to it, I very much enjoyed the first film although I havn't read any of the books. Yes, it is very kid orientated, but who gives a ..., I'm young at heart and I still enjoy a good adventure story.

The film does look great, a lot better than the first one. I'm going to go see it next week with my g/f. I like it cos there are a lot of really great English actors and actresses in there: Robbie Coltrane, Maggie Smith, Richard Harris (who sadly past away a few weeks back:().

The Quiditich parts look pretty nifty too:Dlol

I'm reading Chamber of Secrets now, and I'm going to see the movie Thanksgiving weekend with my cousins. I loved the first movie... it so refreshing to see a book-based movie that's actually :gasp: faithful to the book! Even Fellowship failed in a lot of ways in that respect.

Gildroy Lockhart is hilarious... especially all the wizard-photos of him on the walls of his office :D
