Breton
Originally posted by ET Warrior Actually, according to everything I have heard about it...........it will be a good deal LONGER than the fourth book... I thought so too. I'm pretty sure it is about a third longer than the fourth. Perhaps just a small error from Chewbacco's side. Anyway, I'm pretty sure all Harry Potter fans (included me) knows when the book is coming out. Really excited about it too, as Harry Potter rules. If you haven't read HP because you think it's a children's book, then you are greatly mistaken. I would recommend everyone to read it, as I haven't seen a single person who's read it who have called it anything near a silly children's book. And as any HP-reader knows, this is a pretty exciting time. Can't wait to read the fifth one. Wonder what the Order of Phoenix is anyway. Any suggestions? Myself, I think it is some kind of organisation that fights the dark arts, perhaps lead by Dumbledore or something. But I can't really know until 21st. Acrylic
It WILL be longer, by 50-100 pages. And it BETTER be longer, I havent been waiting like, what is it...3 years for nothing!
Mex
I'll read it since I read the fire one.. It is a bit confusing.. And why doesent Harry EVER get a girlfriend?
StormHammer
Thanks for the heads-up Chewbacco. I can't say I've read a Harry Potter book myself...because I haven't. Anyway, perhaps the confusion over novel length is down to the number of pages. It is technically possible for the book to be longer, with a fewer number of pages...because they can change the type style and squeeze more words on the page. So I'd go by the physical number of words, rather than the physical number of pages. I think I'll go and read Thomas Covenant again...all 3000 pages of it... Surfnshannon
:::does a little dance::: I CAN"T WAIT This book is supposed to tell about Harry's mysterious family!!! I loved every single Potter book I've read and at first before I read them, I thought the hype was seriously ridiculous! Now I understand. Rowling does an EXCELLENT job! Oh it is such a great series..I could go on and on. Here I am 23 years old and I'm a Harry Potter fan - YA BABY!!!!! There was something on MSN about Rowling doing her first ever webcast...I'm going to go check that out and possibly post a link! ONLY 2 more weeks! Rowling has said that one of the few things magic can't do, is to bring dead people back to life. So we won't see Harry's parents alive.
Surfnshannon
flashbacks are always legal...but I don't think they will be alive....and I think cedric will be a ghost...
Chewbacco
There might be more pages and that is a possibility storm, fewer pages but more words. The release date is U.S. release date. It might come out earlyer in England.

Surfnshannon
dang...that's going to be one LONG read. Well Goblet of Fire only took me 3 days...this one will take longer cuz of the baby though.
Eldritch
I keep myself updated by going to MuggleNet, but it's nice to see people other than myself are excited about the 5th book. I'm not sure on pages, but the reports are that it's about 255,000 words (to Goblet's 171,000). I'm not sure it's possible to pack that many additional words into less pages. Anyway, i'll be at the festivities going on at most bookstores on June 20th for a few hours before midnight hits and the book goes on sale. Oh, and STTCT, my personal speed reading record is 2 days. For all four books. I had the flu and couldn't leave bed... what else could I do?

Chewbacco
Yah I'm giong to do that to, next week when I have time. That way I go in the short line in Barns n' Noble at midnight. Any one getting the book at midnight? I am, like I did on the 4th book release.
Rogue Nine
I'm quite interested in how Rowling's going to handle these last few years of the kids' lives at Hogwarts. We all know that there's going to be a final showdown of Harry vs. Voldemort, but how she characterizes the characters in their later teenage years could make or break the rest of the series. At least for me.

At least for me. Have you ever read the interview with Rowling book or something that asks questions? She said that sometime in the book series, Harry saves the Dursleys from something. And then they are nicer to him and they start to celebrate his birthdays. The author asked what she going to do after she writes the 7th book. She said that she is going to leave them alone, write no sequals, it will be the end of Harry Potter. The 7th book will have a dramatic ending to it perhaps. I think the series will be done in 2010.
