Troopr-Undr-Fir
I have heard many different opinions on what would make a good star wars game. And since we have KOTOR and JA coming soon, people are really excited on the content of each game. I was just wondering what you Lucusforum surfers would suggest makes a good Star wars game. Also wtf is up the band width of this forum? I am running 56k and it is yes normally not very quick, but it never takes 2 mins to load one freakin page. Agen
None of the above, what makes any game a good game - Fun. In this case, lightsaber will make JA good fun more than any of the others.
Prime
depends on the game. Lightsabers in an X-Wing game would suck, but it rules in JO. It depends what you are looking for at the time. The big difference be tween good and bad is how well they implement what they set out to accomplish...
legameboy
I'd like to say storyline, I think it hold all of the other options up.
Sam Fisher
The fun factor, I think. If its not fun, what good are sabers etc...?

HertogJan
Hmmm... What aout all of 'em All of those are elements which can make a game feel starwarzy Lightsabers, space combat... "Fun" doesn't exactly make a good Star Wars game!! But for JA, it's mainly the lightsabers which do the trick, but to feel really Star Wars, they must have a starwarzy storyline too! Rockstar
umm sorry man, coz i know this is gonna come off a bit nasty, and i don't wanna dump on you but actually assess the common sense of this poll. Who is going to play a JEDI game where you play as a JEDI who uses a lightsaber and not give a rats arse about saber combat ??? lol seriously all of your poll points make up a good game and nobody would really want promote weakness in any of them sorry

Personally, to make it a 'good' Star Wars game, I think it has to be faithful to the 'atmosphere' of the movies. Sounds are incredibly important, in that context...the blasters, the sounds of the aliens, and the ships...and even the music...are all important in terms of 'authenticating' a game as being in the Star Wars universe. Then the design of vehicles and buildings helps to convey the 'Star Wars' feel. The 'vertical' scale is very important, because the movies are well-known for this feature. A storyline with an 'epic' feel is also important. I don't think there is a single defining parameter, but a mix of ingredients required to convey the 'feeling' of Star Wars. The artistic design and style must combine with the sounds, easily recognised aliens and enemies, in order to give you the right sense of 'place'. Once you can set the scene as being uniquely 'Star Wars', then you can concentrate on making a 'great game' in that context, by introducing all of the elements that make games great, including the action and 'fun' factor. And as this thread does cover a wider context outside of JA, I'm moving this thread to the Swamp.
Wanderer
Well for me of course is a good lightsabercombatthing very important. But more important than this is a good story so that you're bound to the game for many hours... the story, that's it.
Darklighter
Good story, great characters, addictive gameplay, and lightsabers. Those are the imperitives;)
Hellfire Jedi
I would say, where you can walk around without swinging at something with your saber every minute, yes RPG. Having some seriously cool saber combat, but not so you click the guy swings up/down. Cool force powers without getting rid of the crappyness out of it, or the same with the look. You're right, but if it's not the sabers which makes the game fun, what is it? I guess it has to be a mix of good story, cool fights, good controls, nice graphics and lightsabers
Crow_Nest
I say it must have good grapics, good camera control, saber combat, story line.....etc And i hate those games with so many control buttons. such as delta force and splinter cell. If you know what i mean.
