  1. It's good great thanks - nothing I can complain about.

    Yourself?

    AK.

  2. It's hard to decide. I like the first one, and the second one was good, and the third one was just as good...

The third one wins it simply because I get to see more of the Royal Navy... :p

  3. It's tricky - while in some ways, the novel is brilliant, the film is just as good - they complement each other well - I guess it's down to personal preference really.

And to be honest, i'm not sure of the spelling either, but 'Il' sticks in my mind, probably from 'Il Duce'. AK

  4. Astor

    Jolan Tru, Senator!

How are things across the neutral zone? :p

  5. Just a note to anyone wishing to leave me a visitor message - I'll be on holiday with no internet access till the 15th of this month, so if I don't answer, it's because I can't.

See you all in a week! ;)

  6. Just giving you a heads-up on a potential head-ache I might be responsible for:

I've asked if everyone can keep it to the topic at hand, but I doubt it'll stay that way. ;)

  7. Just to Mablethorpe and Skegness for the week. Nice and relaxing. I even bought a (model) boat.

Yeah, results are looming for everyone... hopefully it'll be passes all round!

  8. Keep on thinking! I've no problem with people seeing these messages - if I needed to say something private i'd take it to PM's.

You're right, of course, that size has no meaning in these situations - in Star Trek, at least, a Phaser is more powerful than a laser - it's stated several times that Lasers are inferior - Federation, Klingon etc ships are rated to withstand Phaser blasts - whether or not that would hold when compared against Star Wars lasers, I'm not sure.

That's the difficulty - comparing the technological standards of the two. For instance, a cloaking device in Star Trek completely conceals a vessel - in Star Wars, a cloaking device only masks the sensor readings of a ship - you can still see it if you look out a window.

Star Trek ships have an advantage in movement as well - a Hyperdrive in Star Wars takes minutes to warm up, and complex calculations are required, otherwise you could jump into an asteroid. Warp Drive can be utilised almost instantly.

That, and a Q could do some nasty damage to anything that gets in the way... :p

  9. Nah, i'm not nice. I kill puppies and eat kittens when i'm not pretending to nice on the internets. :p

Awesome. I'll check out your review!

No problems :). I've personally never liked Valve, or Steam, but it's forced my hand - at least it's a surefire way of keeping a game up-to-date, and it'll mean it'll be easier to play online.

And I never did get Hornblower, but ITV3's been showing it on Sundays - so i've seen most of them! I think The Frogs and The Lobsters is the one of the best ones, but it's difficult - the whole series is so good!

  11. No problems. :)

And i'm sure I don't need to say how awesome your own avatar is... :D

  12. No problems. What's more, is that with this Total War game, there are no more silly accents - soldiers speak to each other in their native language!

I can't vouch for the accuracy that the uniforms and so on have, but there's definately bound to be mods in the works ready to fix any glaring errors. ;)

  13. No worries. ;)

AC2 isn't on PC (yet), but they're both definitely worth a play.

  14. No, there were no governments in previous versions - all you could was set taxes. I do like the government systems, but I think they could have done with a bit more functionality.

And yes, the AI is still prone to occasional acts of delusion.

  15. Not really 'written' anything, just sort of continuing with some plots I put together some time ago... I'm not really a big writer - I seem to have short bursts of inspiration that then promptly disappear. I got to a good point on the one i'm doing, and then it went. Some thinking is in order...

I like some of your stuff, by the way, it's pretty good (not that I know much about writing, but I think it's good)

  16. Not that I'm aware of...

I'm sorry I've not been around a lot lately, things have been a little crazy recently, but hopefully I'll get back to playing soon. :)

  17. Not too much, really. Christmas doesn't really start for another week or two for me, but that's no reason why the Major-General can't be in the festive spirit...

    How are you?

  18. Not-bloody-likely, I think.

I'm taking a step back from it before my blood pressure get's too high - I just detest the US saved the world theory - helped, yes, I've never denied that, but no US veterans i've ever spoken with have ever claimed to have saved us...

  19. Nothing too complex -

    Name,

    Age,

Appearance (can be as simple/complex as you wish),

Biography (feel free to write as much or as little as you like),

    Any equipment,

And, if your character does have experience with the supernatural, how they came to have it.

I think that should about cover things.

  20. Of course i'd be interested! I was actually going to ask you if you'd found anyone interested in joining Glory of the Empire.

When you've put the thread up, i'll have a look and see if I want to use K'vang or a new character. :)

    Thanks! ;)

  21. Oh, buckets!

I just love running round in circles... :p

  22. Oh, yes, I can agree with you on the diplomacy - it's pretty lacklustre - and I still can't understand the 'Demand Surrender' button - it doesn't work at all, as far as I can tell - even with a full stack against ordinary citizens, they still choose death.

I'm also severely disappointed about the lack of a Royal Family - I was looking forward to having my King take to the field himself, especially if their home province was invaded.

It is getting better, but there's no excuse for the shambolic state it was in on release.

  23. oops. must remember to click 'view conversation' next time. lol

Congratulations, but spelling bees? I didnt think they had them in schools over here. I always thought they were american things really... but the whole fad for 'proms' started just as I left school, so I guess it wouldn't surprise me.

  24. Ordinarily I would, but there's far too many posts in that thread to go through and move them into another thread, and it's very hard to distinguish which posts are strictly referring to ideas and which are strictly referring to the mod.

So, the posts are going to have to stay in the ideas thread.
