  1. Thinking about it a bit, is it possible that Ron gets to tell his post-MI2 part of the story, show what the real deal was with that game's ending, then once Guybrush escapes the carnival we get a time skip, whereby the events of Curse-Tales could've happened or not depending on your preference? You could be vague enough to just say "then Guybrush went on to have many adventures over the course of a decade, here's where he is now". Considering how each game has already been seperated into "parts" AND bits of narration it could work pretty easily. Then you can have Stan, Murray, Morgan LeFlay, whoever you want from any of the games show up in the later part of the game, and Ron can take the story in whatever direction he wants because now it's a clean slate. Of course, yes, the multiverse could happen too, hell, we already have 2 Guybrush Threepwoods in universe, one with the middle name Q and one with a U. I'd love a gag where, say, the Voodoo Lady shows Guybrush a universe where Herman is Elaine's Grandpa and he just laughs at how ridiculous it is before never entering that one again 😂
  2. Huh. 👕 I beat #Mojole and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 2/6 💛💛💚🖤💛 💚💚💚💚💚
  3. You make a good point, I mean Guybrush seems to have almost forgotten the Voodoo Lady between 1 and 2 as well as 2 and 3. Yeah, It wouldn't surprise me if we start the game off as Elaine standing over the blown up X marks the spot on Dinky Island. Sounds like a pretty good way to build suspense about what's happening with Guybrush before we finally catch up with him. Ok, I'm gonna just go for a big swing theory here. This series is known for Voodoo magic and Big Whoop has been described as the secret to another world. What if...we get a mix of post Tales continuation and a conclusion to Ron's story through dimension hopping and time travel. Maybe Murray is the key to that, hopping from the post-Curse canon to the end of MI2 to bridge the gaps. Maybe that's all too much and too contrived/lore-heavy for this series, idk. Depends on how it's done. Either way, I have faith in Ron.
  4. So Ron's said that Curse is still canon and they've been careful to make sure nothing is contradicted by this game...so what's the deal with Murray? I can think of two possible outcomes; he's used as a narrator (ironic since Denny Delk narrated the Special Editions) OR you're not playing as Guybrush when you run into him. Maybe you play as Elaine for a portion of the game and you cross paths with Murray at that point. Also, if Curse is still canon, does that mean we can't have Stan show up? Or will they be making sure he gets locked inside a coffin AGAIN on Blood Island (also without him and Guybrush meeting)? The only other way I can see this all working out is if somehow this game takes place both immediately after Monkey Island 2 AND post-Tales...that'd be one ballsy move.
  5. So Dom definitely didn't know anything when you streamed the first 2 games with him and Marius?
  6. By pure stroke of luck, I managed to catch a rumour that this might be happening on a Facebook group about a year ago. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would turn out to be real (though I saved the screenshots just in case; the post was removed eventually) or that Ron was involved, but here we are!
  7. Wow...that's pushing it guys 👕 I beat #Mojole and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 4/6 🖤💚🖤💛💛 🖤🖤🖤💛💛 💚💛💛🖤🖤 💚💚💚💚💚 https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/
  8. Awesome! I really need to start accessorizing my keyring with cool stuff like this.
  9. No, I mean Monkey6. All the MI games have their place and imo Tales had the best story. I think there's way more to be explored with the Voodoo Lady and that end credits scene. Mi3a would only diminish the value of MI2's ending as an unanswered question; the 30 years of speculation and crazy fan theories would all come to an end and knowing the secret will ultimately be disappointing, no matter what it is. No doubt, I'd be curious about it and a new Monkey Island game by Ron Gilbert would be fascinating, but I'm more invested in where the characters are post-Tales than going backwards just for an explanation that we don't need.
  10. Yeah...no thanks. I kinda hope that if a remaster is in the works they just took his backgrounds and stuck to the 2d characters. Like I said before though, I'd prefer no remaster at all over 3D. That aside, where's Monkey 6? That's really all I want.
  11. I just want to know more. Any new adventure game by Ron is cause for celebration.
  12. Ron seems to be generally uninterested in feeding people's hype though. This is just standard practice for him. I highly doubt that any new Monkey Island game would be his 3rd game, it's gonna be 6, which personally I'd be thrilled about cause Tales left a lot of interesting character stuff to pick up in another game. I totally get wanting Ron's story told though, it'd be wonderful for him after all these years. I just think it's highly unlikely that either Disney sold the rights or Ron accepted working with them.
  13. I don't usually look too deep into rumours because it's usually someone's shoddy attempt at clout-chasing, but a few months ago someone in a Monkey Island Facebook group directed me to a stream of MI2:SE where someone claiming to have been part of the animation team revealed in the chat that they were working on an MI3 remaster. Sadly this streamer doesn't save their videos so I can't direct you to it, but what made it credible to me was that they didn't just volunteer the info out of nowhere, they showed up to say "thanks for playing this game I worked on" and then was asked what they were doing now they said "oh, Hollow Knight 2, and this might be a spoiler but there's gonna be an MI3 remake". Someone also posted on another fan group about how a developer friend told then that the Business Dev at Disney let slip that a new MI game was being made and indie publisher Devolver Digital were involved, but who's actually making the thing was not said. Take it all with a grain of salt, I'm just less sceptical that someone in this community would stoop so low as to raise our hopes like that, and that this series is too niche to randomly make up something like this for clicks. Nothing's come of it since though, so idk.
  14. If you want brain shattering revelations, I've got one for you. Both Craig Derrick and Bill Tiller said in the book that if Curse ever gets remastered they would use 3D. Craig wanted to replace all the assets in 3D, and Bill wanted to repaint the backgrounds and use 3D characters. Personally, I think this would be a huge mistake and it's kinda soured my excitement for a remaster to be made. You just don't do that with a game so heralded for its 2d character animation. Maybe it could work, and I just have limited imagination, but idk, seeing Tiller's other work doesn't inspire much confidence that it could live up to the stellar work that has already been done with the original game.
  15. So...any indication that we might know what this was for soon?
  16. It's just the office and changes camera angle when you walk near the hole. I like the camera coming from the hole a lot better, and I like how it's massive, more destruction in a Sam & Max game is always a win.
  17. Tested it for a bit without ScummVM, the game hangs after a few minutes and just loops the last line of dialog until it crashes. Seems that ScummVM is still the only option... until they remaster it (pleeeeease?)
  18. Wow, good to know! I was wondering why CMI wouldn't work with your installers. It's also worth noting that dgVoodoo2 can also be used to upscale the character models in Escape from Monkey Island and add anti-aliasing. It makes the game look so much better. It does require Supersampling being turned on in your video card though, otherwise it'll have some weird lines and artefacts all over the screen.
  19. I didn't know where else to ask about this, but does anyone know if there was a Hi-Res version of that "Return to Monkey Island" poster that was made for the April Fools joke back in 2002? I could only find this tiny one on the Monkey Island wiki. Sidenote: This is a great title and should absolutely be used if a 6th game ever gets made.
  20. I posted this in the comments where Andywinxp posted about his iMuse fixes but it ocurred to me that article is too old for people to go back to and see, so I'm posting it here. "So I've done some more testing, and there seems to be a bug in the music. Sometimes, when the music is transitioning from one track to another, the previous track continues to play, or it transitions to the start of the next song rather than whatever the track's up to. For example, in the Barbery Coast, when you finish talking to one Rottingham, it transitions to the main theme but keeps playing the Rottingham version. I also noticed that when Guybrush comes back from the Plunder beach to the Voodoo Lady's after finding Elaine's been kidnapped, it keeps playing the generic Plunder beach theme over the top of the Voodoo Lady's theme. This seems to only happen when you've been playing the game from the start, as I've tested it using a save and it doesn't happen. I don't know how many other times this may occur as I didn't get that far but it seems like there might just be a bug in the fix that needs to be ironed out."
  21. So awesome to see this classic art in high def. Any chance of a high def, textless version of this Afterlife poster?
  22. Yeah, these forums are much better than the Steam ones. Dear lord, what a bunch of whiny little shits. It's getting worse though cause someone just posted a YouTube video about it (that I won't link because why would I give them the viewership they crave) which has already gotten over 3000 views and the comments are all the same crap, people whining about the game "going woke" and all the subtext that entails along with "Well they don't get my business" Karen talk. I really hope this doesn't ruin the success of the game and it's just a vocal minority.
  23. It'd be great if Jake or anybody could give some official word on that. I imagine it's pretty likely that they're already in development but whether they actually come to light will be determined by the sales of the first season.
