  1. Yes it's very sad. Communities used to have to be home grown, for the most part. Lots of dedicated users who built fan sites and forums and hosted custom mods. Now there's official twitter accounts for Lucasfilm and link sharing sites (Digg which imploded and lead to Reddit) that focus less and less on the individuality of a given user (no avatars, signatures, etc.) and more on sharing articles, mostly straight from the source. Old VBulletin forum sites are an elegant tool, from a more civilized age. An age where Joss Whedon was an underdog and "nerd culture" wasn't mainstream. But the reality, folks, is that there are 5 new Star Wars movies coming out in the next 4.5 years and, when I joined LF, there were only 5 Star Wars movies! There really isn't a Lucasarts anymore, but we still have Tim Schafer. Although, we could easily try to leverage these new tools.... https://www.reddit.com/r/yodasswamp
  2. Holy Smokes. (This BBCode requires its accompanying plugin to work properly.)
  3. I'd be really interested to see what the original Database record for your 1997 registration looks like.
  4. Very sad. RIP Astro. I will always remember him as one of the first people to turn movie clips into GIF's. Thanks for inventing tumblr before tumblr was invented
  5. Well it looks like Disney just signed a "multi-year" agreement with EA (everyone's favorite!) to develop future Star Wars titles. The PR statement explicitly name drops DICE, Bioware, and Visceral for future titles. Perhaps this means a new Battlefront and KOTOR? Who knows what the plan is for Visceral... maybe a videogame adaptation of the "Death Troopers" EU novel? http://starwars.com/news/electronic-arts-selected-for-multi-year-agreement-for-the-future-of-star-wars-gaming.html
  6. http://kotaku.com/disney-shuts-down-lucasarts-468473749 It's a sad day indeed. I feel like an old friend has just left me forever. I know that LucasArts was well past its prime but I never expected Disney to outright shut it down and cancel all games in development. What a waste. After nearly 10 years on these forums and LucasArts is no more
  7. JJ Abrams to direct. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/24/jj-abrams-star-wars-director_n_2545526.html
  8. Wow that's some pretty impressive work... especially with such an old engine as Quake III. You might also want to post this over in some of our other forums, you might get some more interest. Thanks for sharing!
  9. So Lucasfilm will now be headed by Kathleen Kennedy, who was the producer of: ET, Poltergeist, Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Steven Hawking's A Brief History of Time, Hook, Tiny Toons, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Twister, The Sixth Sense, Seabiscuit, Munich, War Horse, and Lincoln. Maybe this won't be so bad.... But then again she was also the Executive Producer of The Last Airbender and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull so maybe it WILL be as bad as I think
  10. Definitely still playing. I may switch out to a free account once school starts up again. Will it be easy to swap paid for free and vice versa?
  11. "Hey so people liked Uncharted..."
  12. I've been re-alphabetizing my spice cabinet. I'll come back in a few weeks after I get through the last section of "Thyme-Za'atar".
  13. He hated it so much he only reprised the role 5 times? What an inspiration!
  14. I picked this up at midnight and sunk 2 hours into it. I don't know if the standard edition qualifies me for any DLC or special features other than multiplayer though.... Pretty great so far
  15. Apparently this fall players will be able to take on a new adventure set during the revolutionary war. Seems interesting. I was personally hoping for the third game to be based in Victorian London. (This BBCode requires its accompanying plugin to work properly.) What does everyone think?
  16. I think a part of growing up is realizing that when George Lucas doesn't necessarily get his way all of the time (Original Trilogy), his movies are incredible. When he does get his way (Prequels), they suck. So, essentially, the worst thing about Star Wars is George Lucas.
  17. Thank you for the well wishes! And for the bikini, although I think I'll have a tough time pulling it off. This is my last week of school before the Christmas holiday so I haven't exactly celebrated being 21 in style yet...
  18. I am called RoxStar. I am a moderator in these here forums and a few other places. I joined LucasForums in the year 2003 during the heyday of Jedi Outcast and have managed to stick around for these past 8 years. I'm currently in college studying Management Information Systems so while I do not have nearly as much time to devote to games as I once did, the time that I can spare is very precious to me. I currently have an Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, iPhone, and laptop within arms reach of me and I use those as my primary gaming platforms. I would love to own a DS again though and I may be investing in one in the coming weeks.
  19. Hmmm.... as long as the server is quick and reliable? If there is one called "Dancing Prancing Pony" we should switch to that because we'll be the best (and only) guild on there!
  20. My Dreamcast is still my primary gaming rig Also I have given up hope of ever finding my DS Lite again. Do I buy a used DS Lite/DSi or do I spring for a 3DS? I normally don't care about the number of d's in my entertainment.
  21. Yeah I think it would be more akin to a Club Penguin or NeoPets. The Clone Wars is a pretty meaty brand for LucasArts right now. They may as well strike while the oven is hot. Although I seem to remember Sony Online and LucasArts sort of not doing so well with their other Star Wars MMO project....
  22. There has to be some use of alliteration for it to stick in everyone's minds. "Hutta Hangout" "Poison Pit" "Lynk's Leper Legion" etc etc.
