Bob Gnarly
From the IMDB: "The Bride" was once part of a group of world class female assassins, until the group leader, "Bill" and the other assassins turn against her. Five years later "The Bride" awakens from the coma the assassins left her in and heads out to seek bloody revenge. Unlike conventional movies, Kill Bill is told in chapter format making the narrative flow more like a book than a film. Bob Gnarly
Jackie Brown is his Thinking movie, it has a slow start but the end leaves you on the edge of your seat. Ew dude, Uma Thurman is manly. Give reasons otehrwise your point is no valed and its just trolling a thread. By the way MydnightPoison whats with your attitude you think your Kain ot something, just going around and threads making stupid contributions? If you ask me Uma looks alot like a younger Madonna. Please get back here and explain why shes manly, Nose is it? No having a abnormal sized nose is not manly. Bruce Lee's Game of Death suit? So... i dont get it i dont find this suit manly at all, i found it girly on Bruse lee to be honost. And wait wait wait! appease? appease those japanese freaks? first off This is a Quentin Tarantino movie, and hes american, Lucy Lius in it and shes american the only people i can think of that aren't American in it are Chiaki Kuriyama, and Sonny Chiba. Second, do you even realise what appease means??
toms
it sounds like it is going to be his version of the full on, completely OTT hong kong swordfighting films. Having watched Michelle Yeoh in Butterfly & Sword last night (complete with arms lopped off, heads smashed, faces ripped off and a highly entertaining variation of the CTHD bamboo forest fight where all the bad guys end up impaled on bamboo spikes) it will be interesting to see how western audiences take to the totally OTT style. Should be fun though.

Kain
Blah blah blah Mamba! This is the OFFICIAL Kill Bill thread. Expect the good with the bad. Would you have prefered am IMO at the end? Because I could have SWORN it was implied. AND YES, it is made for all those people who are like 'OOOO, Japan, COOOOOOOOOOL. Great warriors and cool weapons ooooooooooo. Cool mind numbing cartoon porn and fake characters ooooooo'. Just the Dances With Wolves 2...I mean The Last Samurai. So I'm not gonna answer to anyone else who gets mad about MY opinions. Deal with the fact that not everyone shares your opinions.

Prime
Minor spoilers (I suppose) ahead I just got back from watching "Kill Bill". If you are a fan of anime/70's Kung Fu movies/cheesy action flicks then this is for you. Just about everything in those genre's is payed homage to (or spoofed), right down to the music and stereotypical characters. While it is a very violent movie, the blood and gore is quite cartoony. The blood spurts just like anime classics such as Ninja Scroll. Arms and legs get chopped off on a regular basis, but these usually got a laugh more than anything. The fight choreography was great, and certainly did a good job of representing the anime kung fu style it was trying to. Part of the movie is actually done in animation, and I thought it looked great and didn't seem too out of place. The story of that section is a little disturbing, but the visual style was similar to some of the shorts in the Animatrix. I thought Uma Thurman did a good job with her part, especially with the physical aspects. But then again, there weren't many other aspects, since there isn't much of a story or any hint of character development. But that is okay, since that isn't what the movie is trying to deliver. So I guess in the end if you are a fan of anime, kung fu, or action movies, you should check this out, otherwise you might want to pass. But for sure, it is very different those anything else out right now... Merged - Try to keep all the Kill Bill stuff in one thread, please ^^ - Darklighter EDIT: Thanks for merging, I missed this thread the first time... Darth Eggplant
I think it might be a bit of a send up to the new charles angels films. not entirely but lucy lui is in this one and she makes the least of all three angels, and groovy said full throttle sucked even though barrymore does; anyhow i like quenton films I want to see this; and i will have to rent Jackie Brown AND Umma is like so beautiful if she is manly then I drink homo milk and am loving it. toms
Had an excellent time at the preview atGreenwich Filmworks. There was a bit of chaos to start with as there were no signs and the cinema was being cleaned, lots of pushing. But it was in screen 1, and there were no adds or trailers. I thought it was an excellent film, probably not as good as Reservoir Dogs or Pulp fiction, but it is hard to draw a final conclusion having only seen 1/2 the film. Horrendously violent, but in a sort of over the top kind of way. And instead of the usual tarrentino cult-reference-quickfire-dialogue you get a much more visual film with almost every genre referenced in the style. (Anime, Martial Arts, Sergio Leone Westerns, Charlie's Angels etc...) I expect some people will miss the dialogue, but i thought that was getting a bit typecast in Jackie Brown (snore) and it is nice to see tarantino try something different. Uma was pretty good, and Lucy Liu was far less annoying than everything else she has been in. Although her presence possibly made it seem a bit too much like charlie's angels. I think that if you like (or at least have a passing knowledge of) Anime or HK action films you might enjoy it more, but i think that anyone who doesn't mind the OTT violence and bad language will enjoy it. [sidenote] it was nice to see a long fight scene against a massive number of enemies that wasn't a total snoozefest like Neo-vs-smiths in Matrix:Reloaded. [/sidenote] Loved it, but not for the sensitive... roll of february and Michael madsen, Daryl hannah and david caradine...

DiRtY $oUtH™
When I saw the preview of that movie I thought WOW....who the hell would actually waste money on making that crap!!? Much less pay to watch it! This is what must have happened: Retard who suggested the script: [At a meeting to decide upcoming movie scripts] "Let's make a movie about this : "The Bride" was once part of a group of world class female assassins, until the group leader, "Bill" and the other assassins turn against her. Five years later "The Bride" awakens from the coma the assassins left her in and heads out to seek bloody revenge. Head of board: You're fired! Retard who suggested the script: "I....I'm fired!? I guess I'll just go and mail these pictures of you strangling hookers...Oh, you'll make the movie now? Great!"

LivingSacrifice
Saw the movie, loved every bit of it! The section with the anime part was great. I like all of Tarantino's movies, Pulp Fiction being his best I think, but this one rates right along with it. J
