Hermie
That look really cool! but the only thing that disturbes me is this: We see more planets celebrating at the end of the movie. We see an aged Jar Jar, who is now the leader of the Gungans, on Naboo celebrating with the people of Naboo and the Gungans. We see an old Watto, who is now unable to fly, sitting in a hover chair cheering on Tatooine. During these scenes Across the Stars plays transitioning to the victory celebration music at the Ewok tree village. shouldnt Jar-Jar be dead yet? and Watto? I sure wish so. Zappa_0
That is what really gets on my nerves, people going on about Jar Jar Binks and the rest of the movies. People stop whinning, live with the movies, their not gonna change not one bit. Some of the stuff there gonna fix seems to be ok and a good idea. Clemme w/Stick
I sure hope this isnt going to released. I like the old movies the way they are, I dont want them to be changed just because GL wants more money and because of the prequals . -Clemme
Zappa_0
Hey be happy that he doesnt want to remake them and be happy to what he wants to add. Its not like he wants to change the entire classic trilogy, just fix a few problems that they couldnt fix back in the early days. And oh yea, ive gotta gloat about my 300th post, wizards!! Clemme w/Stick
Hmm, why do you think he made the Special Edition trilogy? To fix the stuff they couldnt fix back when they first made the movies. Now he wants to make SE of the SE. I can see that some of the stuff serves a purpose, but I dont see any reason at all to do it. I'm very happy with the SE movies, and will probably be happy with these as well, but I honestly dont see any reason to do it. I mean, add more Ewoks, add Jar Jar and Watto, remake the Jabba/Han scene, use more CG scenes, even change Yoda from RotJ into a CG character? I mean, the Ewoks, Jar Jar and Watto are unnecessary. The Han/Jabba scene is good the way it is, I'm glad that they made him walk over his tail. More CG?! Theres too much CG in the prequals. I like the old movies more than the new ones, just because there isnt much CG in them, and even make Yoda CG?!?!?! What? The puppet Yoda owns the CG Yoda, and it would ruin the whole Yoda character from the OT to make him CG. This is of course my oppinion . BTW grats on your 300 posts. -Clemme
The Cheat
The original shooting scene between Han and Greedo has been restored. THANK GOD!!! When the Death Star destroys Alderaan there's a new scene of Yoda's reaction to the disturbance in the Force that is created by all those deaths and then it cuts to Obi-Wan reacting to it as well. I'm not sure how this scene would work with Yoda. As long as it does not look out of place in the movie then I think I could live with it. There's a new scene (shot during Episode III) where Darth Vader goes to Coruscant and lands his ship in the same building Count Dooku does at the end of Attack of the Clones. Except now the building is all fixed up and it is now Palpatine's palace. He meets with Palpatine to ask for forgiveness for his failure and inform him of a new potential who is strong in the Force. This sounds like a neat idea. I could see it working. A new scene was shot in which the stormtroopers, after they capture Han, Leia and Chewie, bring Vader the box containing C-3PO in pieces. Vader orders the stormtroopers to bring the broken droid to Chewbacca's cell so that he can fix him. I didn't understand this at first but then i realized that what it does is it shows that Anakin still remembers 3P0 Sebastion Shaw who played Anakin when he was unmasked has been replaced with Hayden Christenson in make-up to make him look older. Anakin has much more dialogue. He apologizes for the destruction he caused, he thanks his son for turning him back to the light, he tells his son to rebuild the Jedi and he says he loves him and his sister. Just before he dies he says, "It is finished...". I'm not sure how this would look but if it is done right I think it would be effective That is all that i have to say for now about this ultimate edition. i could see lucas doing it and i would buy it. i would like to see the original edition released though. i dont think they should release the special edition though. just have the way it was originally and then the way it is with all the new effects, no in between
Zappa_0
I think that this update will bring everything together as a whole from the prequals. I think they will do fine and we will have more whinning by those who hate the prequals. Some people just need to get over it if they dont like it, stop complaining its not gonna help none. Datheus
The only problem I see here is that they're talking about going in and actually really editing some really important stuff to the movie... As long as it isn't painfully obvious that they've gone back and have done this, I guess it shouldn't be so bad.
Troopr-Undr-Fir
I actually do like all the ideas that they are putting in it. I mean yeah sure I know we all grew up with the OT and yeah I will always love it, but I mean they weren't really finished and that you can tell when ever GL gets interviewed on the subject. So it would be a cool "idea" but thats all it is right now...

toms
please, someone shot george lucas before he completely obliterates all memory of possibly the best films ever made. He seems obsesed with destroying everythign that made them cool... Sebastion Shaw who played Anakin when he was unmasked has been replaced with Hayden Christenson in make-up to make him look older. Anakin has much more dialogue. He apologizes for the destruction he caused, he thanks his son for turning him back to the light, he tells his son to rebuild the Jedi and he says he loves him and his sister. Just before he dies he says, "It is finished...". god this sucks!!!! the hoth battle is constantly refered to as one of the best battles of all time, so he is going to change it... sigh. vicious CGI ewoks!! good grief. Now if he replaced them with CGI wookies then i might be interested. I happen to LIKE the saber effects in the first films. All I want is the original, un messed with films on a dvd with the white boxes removed from the tie fighters. is that too much to ask!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at this rate i'm surprised ridley scott didn't add 200 cgi aliens to his aliens directors cut just to make the movie "better". BCanr2d2
His movies, he can do what ever he likes with them. All a load of smoke and mirrors, until they are out with CONFIRMED changes and not RUMOURS, then I will continue to avoid any such speculation about the OT movies on DVD
toms
i think classic movies should be like kids, if it is clear that their parent isn't looking after them (or is actively wrecking them) then the state should be able to intervene and take custody of them. for the sake of the kids...er, i mean movies. The Cheat
i think he should be able to do whatever he wants to do with the movies since he is the creator. you dont yell at raven when they release a patch for a game (except that whole 1.04 ordeal) so why should we get mad at him for this? let him do with them as he pleases
Sivy
GL said in a recent interview that there wont be anymore changes to the OT. how true that is, who knows.. we'll just have to wait and see. until then i wouldn't put too much stock into these rumors. I also seem to remember a lot of people yelling at GL for making greedo shoot first, for the whole EP1 debacle and a number of other things. The problem i have is that once people release "special editions" people assumen that they are automatically better than the originals, so no one watches the originals anymore. Don't you think it would be a shame if a trilogy of films that has been consistently voted as one of the best films of all time is no longer seen by anyone?? I do. It would be like a great painting being bought by a private collector, so no-one got to enjoy it anymore. SW because bigger than GL, and unfortunately he doesn't seem to have grown with it. DarkLord60
Guys guys guys.........and Girls! I think you are all forgeting that this is only a wish list read the bottom it says so. Another thing why would Lucas ruin the DVD's hasn't he learned his lesson yet from the fans. I do believe a few things will be fixed such as film glitches and saber glow fix, but I don't he will go to the extreme of redoing scenes for a DVD of a movies he has already worked on twice now. BongoBob
I think it would be cool if he did do this, but also had the original and SE on it also. That would be cool. I think the ideas are very interesting, although I can only read what the people here say because I don't see it on the page he linked, especially the vader landing on the building thing. Also, do you guys complain about the LotR SE? I don't think so.
The Cheat
Originally posted by BongoBob Also, do you guys complain about the LotR SE? I don't think so. Well the original lotr is also available on dvd and they didnt use the same extras so the two versions of that film basically coexist
RoxStar
I think it should just be re-mastered, have deleted scenes added, and have it released on DVD. Nothing more, nothing less.
Chuahtemoc
on a personal note, i think that anybody who denounces the readjustments of these movies isn't a true sw fan. i mean, come on, GL has been working with this thing for three decades. I love it and I hope that someday, they find a way to create the more epic of the later books (the Shadow Academy, the Thrawn trilogy, the rebuilding of the Republic, and most of al, the Yuuzhan Vong campaign). Surfnshannon
I'm a true fan okay? 1. I'm all for changes if they are positive GL keeps changing the OT and keeps changing it to make more and more money. Why hasn't he put them on DVD yet - because he wants to make more money. I liked that he changed the OT for the sake of making it look better etc....the Jabba part was stupid however and I'm afraid that if he does add in Padme or some other PT stuff that it will look like that jabba scene and just look silly.
