yeah, no kidding, good job, that must have took an enormous amount of coordination.

Probably not that much, with the level of cooperation inherant to EverQuest, I imagine it was just a matter of several different guilds talking together, deciding to do it, and then travelling together and preparing for battle like they always do.

O the glory! O the mayhem!

I hope that someday I'LL have enough of a lack-of-a-life to spend 4 hours with a crap load of people I don't like beating down something with 10 billion health points.

Not to say my girlfriend would complain (she's like Lilah on ctrlaltdel-online.com, oh yea!), but I would. That and I loathe Everquest, Final Fantasy XI, and all those other 'online-only' waste of $50 and a monthly chunk of my check. Thats what taxes are for.

Which begs the question: How many of THEM will kill themselves because of their character dying?

I realize I'm going to the worse possible outcome after death. Ask me if I care.

Full of angry thoughts...sorry.

IT ****ING DISAPEARED!!??!!??!!

OMG, that must have been a lot of fun *Wishes Morrowind would be online* That would be ****ing awsome! Because my character has glass armor, like 250 hitpoints, 100 light armor skill, 100 longsword skill, 100 marksman skill, 186 armor points, 110 strength, 108 endurance, :D saddly, a bug kept me from finishing the ****ing game, but I have practiced in the mod making, so i am going to put whats his name in Balmora :D

I dunno... If Sony really didn't want it to be beatable, wouldn't they just have given it -1 hitpoints or something? Give it a regen rate of 1 point a second? Something?

Giving it 10 billion hit points really doesn't seem to be like they didn't plan on it always living.

Erm, doing a little math you'd see that Kerafyrm got hit for roughly 700,000 points per second, so if he had a regeneration rate of 1 point per sec....

But trust me, he probably had a regeneration rate of way more than 1. I played EQ for 'bout 3½ years, so I know a wee bit of the game.

The thing with encounters like The Sleeper is that they slowly, but surely experience a decrease of potency when that potency is related to Player Characters' increasing potencies through expansion after expansion. Kerafyrm was the end all of Verant's 2nd expansion "Scars of Velious" and they're now at the 5th expansion, and with every expansion the equipment and spells (at times also character level max and skills) become more and more powerful, meaning that what was über in a former expansion is pitiful in the next (I'm oversimplifying, but you get the picture).

Conclusively, though the Sleeper was one bad mofo back in "his days", he is (apart from the amount of health) not that much to look at now. What is special about him though, is that he is a one-timer; once killed on a server he doesn't respawn. And killing him holds certain consequences that would tick other players off.

EDIT: corrected increase to decrease....sad things happen when you post in a hurry

I can't believe Sony meddled the first time. How ignorant. Shame it doesn't drop any loot either, how lame. Kudos to all those involved, I would have loved to see that.

That is a bit sad, though why would the game devs put loot on a creature they had no intention of ever letting die?
